You have to check behind waterfalls in video games for treasure, either to be nonplussed that they put something there, or annoyed that there’s nothing.

Crouch spamming to show friendliness is an ollddd one

Ed

Alternate tradition #9: Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines (original). There, now at least one person has re-installed that game.

MarvoMundercup

How about taking the character back to their home / base / cool resting area before exiting a big open world game for the very last time? Eg - I left Geralt in Corvo Bianco, Link in Rito Village, the Dragonborn in the College of Winterfell, V in her apartment with Judy

Moosevelt

However, crouch spamming on a freshly killed enemy is a universal sign of pwnage, hehehe

Nathaniel Goff

Glitch sharing. Whenever you talk about games to other players, you either discuss the ones that were obvious (ex. Bethesda games ((Looking at you Skyrim horse. Have you bothered to land yet?)) Or, speculate on ones that might not have been a glitch at all.

When starting a 3D platformer and are able to move around, players will always use the first space to run around in circles, jump, crouch, slide, wall jump, etc to get a feel for movement. Other gamer culture traditions things might include getting DOOM to run on something, phrases like "Can it run Crysis?" and "The Cake is a Lie"

YellaChicken

I can't reinstall Skyrim, never uninstalled it. Skyrim, and Cyberpunk 2077, are always ready to play anytime I feel like going back to something comfortable.

Patrick O'Brien

Yahtzee, 'gg' definitely came in as a match end thing for in TFC. The British game was big on etiquette, even on the public servers.

When there is any sort of luck based thing you have no control over, like throwing a pokeball, you jam a button quickly. You do this because you are convinced it positively effects the outcome or makes you feel better.

Connor Kelly-Eiding

You're allowed to look at a walkthrough if you're stuck in a game, but you should only Keep it open if you've already beaten the game and are now going for an obsessive 100% run.

AR

When the ending of a game depends largely on a single decision towards the end (i.e. Mass Effect 3) you must save right before the decision and then go back to witness all possible endings.

DNJ

Leaning forward when you lock in.

Swift Justice

When you have or gain immunity to fall damage, immediately set out to find the longest possible drop in the game to eagerly abuse it with.

JC

Platformer : go left first

Swift Justice

There's arguably some crossover as it became such a self-perpetuating meme. Given the breakneck pace of multiplayer PVP, teabagging means someone took the time to acknowledge you!

Swift Justice

Teabagging has a descendant in Splatoon with Squidbagging, rapidly switching to squid/octopus form after a splat, or victory in PvE. There's variants, as squirming around as a little cartoon cephalopod is, as one might expect, inherently hilarious.

Davsau

Describe an open world game to someone using the phrase ‘Ubisoft Sandbox’ and watch disappointment wash over their face.

FancyShark

In any game where equipment changes your appearance, you must try each item at least once, even though you have no intention of changing the outfit you picked out already.

FancyShark

This is especially true when equipment has no effect on gameplay, such as clothing in Saints Row or GTA.

JP Sistenich

Exactly. When starting a side scrolling level, Always Backtrack First.

JP Sistenich

Corollary: Check fireplaces for hidden treasure out tunnels.

Dave Canter

not even just side scrollers, "looks like the critical path is right, best go left then....."
