Just got to tent with marco in Cairn and boy oh boy Aava got that Mamba Mentality. The game is amazing and the flow state you can get in after having done a bit of rock climbing is so nice and the game is just so accurate. Rock climbers really be contorting their bodies crazy style.

Far Too Many Frogs

if we're talking immersion, Big Hops is better for me on steam deck than desktop, and i got way too immersed in it yesterday. that may be indicative of my froggy nature tho.

Never played a Nioh game before so I played some of the demo today; Really enjoyed all the different unique systems that lend themselves to player expression, but something about the visual style made me feel like everything is muddy and unclear. Add to that the performance issues on a 1 year old PC (medium setting with FSR on 85%) and it left me feeling kinda cold. As always thanks for the pods gents!

Sorta off topic but what is the least powerful gameplay additional effect an Amiibo can offer: that one is for a game you would already play, and two, a series you are highly familiar with. Assume this game is available on other platforms but this single functionality makes Switch 2 your desired choice. I am just curious what non-game breaking nor useless Amiibo function could ever make you consider buying an Amiibo and actively using it. And my coffee of choice is an Almond Latte with extra flavor and normal milk. Dunno where that ranks me on efficinato tier list, but mostly drink it cause my family would get it.

Large latte is mine. I’m currently playing paper mario thousand year door for the switch and can I just say that, with rare exception like the FFVII remake, these remakes of games almost invariably fuck up the music with their new tunes? I never played the original GameCube version but stuck the ost on during play on the switch version and it is night and day how much better the original music is. (See also secret of mana, trials of mana, super Mario rpg remakes for worse tunes than the original)

I can believe that, I had some other issues with a few visual changes myself. I don't understand some choices when it comes to remakes.

I don't drink coffee but I'll gladly drink up a shadow drop of a video game (Hollow Knight Switch 2 Edition)

Since you're talking about "Cairn", I'll highlight this YouTube comment under last week's Firelink from user CottonModem: Just pronounce Cairn the Australian way: "Ken" with a long "e" sound, like you're a Fist of the North Star character calling out to Kenshirō. Jombily again: Marty, given your undying love for "Turok: Dinosaur Hunter", tell us your hopes and dreams for the upcoming "Turok: Origins" available this fall on Switch 2 of the Nintendo family of consoles!

A Winged Potato

Don’t drink coffee, but if others drag me along I’ll grab a black tea (preferably earl grey) or white tea As Marty said on his stream, I’d love for them to get the N64 Bombermans next and we can see The Second Attack make an appearance on a revival of Game Night

I've just started playing Indika after it dropped onto GamePass this week, and I'm enjoying it's oddness. I do like the game slagging you off for dying haha. That might be a British-ism, do enjoy another useful phrase...

I will be starting up DQVII Reimagined this weekend as my first 2026 release (my first two games this year were clean up from 2025). It'll be my fourth Dragon Quest game after playing III and I&II HD-2D Remakes last year. The game looks adorable, but I have only been seeing sharp negativity around this remake from the older fans due to the sheer scope of content cutting, scenario streamlining, and difficulty nerfing. Kind of puts a damper on the parade.

As a man of substance and unparalleled taste, I only imbibe in the finest of 4 hour old Gas Station Coffee. And I take it black and bleak, like my current outlook on Nintendo Switch 2 partner releases.

We've had several turn based RPGs come out recently: DQ7 Reimagined, Octopath Traveler 0, as well as indies like Kingdoms Of The Dump and Escape From Ever After. Who would you say each of these is for? Or, if you only have time for one or two of these games, who should prioritize playing what?

Nioh 3 is really fun, as was Nioh 2, but it still suffers from the same performance issues Rise of the Ronin and Wo Long did. It's not as bad but it's still taking up the majority of my graphics card load to run. I don't think we can really blame anyone for this specific Nintendo Direct being lackluster, it was a Partner Direct and all we got were confirmations of third party games being ported. I think the big issue is that Nintendo refuses to just announce these like a normal company and instead dedicates a whole video and time slot to ports. The Switch 2 being strong enough to run most things competently isn't a novelty anymore so we should just get these announcements in the reveal trailers for games now. Adventures of Elliot is the only game we're really hearing about in these directs and, as much as it pains me to say, it's just not grabbing people. A retro Zelda clone where the protag dresses like a FF Red Mage is a nice idea but it's just not going to sell well, no matter how good it actually is

The best part about Gas Station coffee is the fine, artisinal, aged 5 years seasoning in each pot from never being cleaned! They know what they're doing.

4-Shot Americano, black as Sin with a little ice water. ☕️ Tried demos for both DQVII and XI recently after never playing any DQs. They're visually pleasing but Clair Obscur modernized turn-based combat to perfection IMO, it's hard to swallow the slower pace of yesteryear.

Tommy Salty

A game you should be playing is Menace! Guys, I know you like all your Dark Souls and Anime Babes, but give this turn-based indie game a try. We need at least one person at SW who plays some strategy games. Strategy gamers are also gamers, you know ;)

Fuzzy Freestyle

Pre-ordered Dragon Quest 7 and I've only had an hour to play some far. Damn my adult life and responsibilities. I played it on the PS1 but never finished it. Time to fix that 20+ year mistake. As for coffee, I'm Canadian so I get a double double from Tim Horton's
