Oh, hell yes! There's no way he gets through this.

Brian S

When I first saw the doll, I thought it was Nick.

Lil' Cass (CJ)

I have a... 😐complicated history with Bionicle😐, so it was cool to see Yahtzee read Bionicle lore just to see how confused he'd be😛, hehehehehe🤭

GreekDudeYiannis

I'm not ashamed to admit that since watching Yahtzee in 2007 on the Escapist when I was in middle school and now currently being married and in medical school, this was the video that did me in and made me join the Patreon.

Bionicle was my Star Wars as a kid. To see Yahtzee of all people covering it is like walking into a fever dream.

Jason Ferro

I enjoy these lore readings but I zoned out halfway through when Borok Cahl: Zorok of... The white guy, started smashing his face into a rock.

Luis Perez

I just got to my lunch 😭 now im in for a treat

Bionicle was indeed inspired by the Pacific Islands, specifically Easter Island with the heads. It's also a metaphor for the creator's battle with brain cancer. Mata Nui is revealed to be a colossal robot sleeping beneath the island, and the Toa arriving in capsules were medicine sent to battle the infection of Makuta. Actually, waking him up did cause quite a bit of trouble.

June Gloom

I was actually thinking this was some surprisingly decent lore for this sort of thing, actually sounds worth getting invested in, and then Yahtzee said "Gakoro, the village of water" and I immediately gave up on that line of thinking.

Sevan Pasch

I remember watching the Bionicle: Mask of Light (I think that's what it was called) movie when I was a kid. I bet it doesn't hold up.

TooManySpreadsheets

Didn't even get to the second movie! ;) Probably for the best, though; Bionicle only gets more and more bananas

Nick Rollins

I'll hazard a guess that Jack's kids were very very very into Bionicle

Antiphar

The flash game is permanently drilled into my subconscious

The Drake

Not to dismiss the nuances of the Polynesian and pacific languages but half of these names sound exactly the same... especially when pronounced by someone who isn't native to those islands (which is 99.9% of the Bionicle Fan Group)

Jesse Haun

How old is Jack? I think it may have been Jack himself that was into Bionicle

Chaz

I remember seeing a commercial for this a long time ago where they had this song by All American Rejects and I was thinking "man they put way too much thought into the story of this crappy looking lego set"

King and Commoner

"Officially as Cool as Captain Planet" is both a sick burn and definitely something I would wear on a shirt

Giovanni

But wait, there's more! You've got the Metru Nui saga, the Mask of Life saga, and the Bara Magna saga. Everyone likes the Metru Nui saga, because there is a voluptuous spider queen who plots against her clingy boyfriend.

Alex James

Your fire charceter thats leveled headed is Shoto Todoroki. But I do believe he is because he also has the ice power it balanced him out

Dalton Trundlegar

I think Yahtzee might be the first person I've seen go into bionicle blind and be completely on board with the rock/earth distinction. Amazing! Also, wow, he picked up on the Polynesian connection immediately.

Dalton Trundlegar

It gets weirder. They did a promotional event around the idea that the villains of that arc kidnapped the All American Rejects.

Brayden Earl

Man, I didn't think this channel would unlock nostalgia so hard. I need to find where my old Bionicles are

Mk. V Procrastinator

Not even mentioning the GSR or Red Star in a lore video like this should be illegal. Rather than going through a basic guide of the main story, you should've bewildered Yahtz with the weird background stuff, the things that were teased for YEARS.

Aran G

As someone who still has an entire Bionicle collection, including every single DC comic book, this was a fun video! Animorphs lore next?!?

Aran G

"Inspired" as in, Lego actually faced legal ramifications for copyrighting parts of the Maori language. They eventually changed the names of several characters except for the Toa, this was even worked into the story as a celebratory "naming ceremony".

Calvin - Xen607

I love how he made a Bohrok Obama joke. Unbeknownst to him, that's a reoccurring meme in the fandom hahaha
