Not while Paper Mario TTYD exists.

When I was a kid, I LOVED Star Fox 64, and the mystery surrounding Fox's dad intrigued me. I remember a friend and I arguing about whether his dad was truly alive at the end, or if it was just Fox's subconscious guiding him out of the base. I was sad that the sequels never really gave any real answers about it, just more vague hints.

I personally don't think so, there are several games with way better story lines imo

This could explain why Star Fox has remained a firm favourite series of mine, especially the characters. It’s a shame that they’ve given up after Command, because even the weirder endings, like Fox and Falco becoming F-zero pilots, gave the characters extra personality that didn’t feel out of place. I will say though, I disagree that Fire Emblem, especially the modern ones, is the simple power gain narrative. The characters stats gains are often directly tied to their backgrounds and personalities, Arthur from Fates springs to mind as only ever being able to have 1 in luck, being established as being impossibly unlucky. It gives it some emergent story telling, especially when pairing them up, though in terms of “show don’t tell”, Star Fox does have it beat.

Personally, I'd argue Star Fox only has the ONE story. They have added stuff, but almost all the Star Fox games are literally a remake/reimaging of the original NES Star Fox.

You might need to do a deep dive on Fire Emblem, especially after the DS era, because man did KC over simplfy those games stories. Awakening imparticular is freaking fantastic and one of, if not the best, Fire Emblem story/game. Sadly, starting if Fates Fire gets way too focused on the multiple storylines stuff that need multiple playthroughs. And while a lot of those stories are good, I personally don't want to play the same game 3 or 4, or more, times to get all the stories.

This is the right answer. The only answer

I would also accept Bowser's Inside Story. Playing it for the first time now and wishing they based the mario movie on this instead of galaxy

Mother 3 is Nintendo’s best story.
