For the premiere episode of Post-Ramblomatic, Yahtzee and Nick discuss their extended thoughts about Palworld.

Curious to see if Yahtz reviews Valheim at 1.0 as another survival craft basebuilder (which doesn't seem super his genre admittedly) and chats about it with someone like JM8 if some of the issues he finds with Palworld are better addressed in their game. Less automation and still got iron smelting out the wazoo when you get to it, but things like multi-base building and overarching goals might right the ship for him compared to Palworld. Appreciate the new content and format! It's nice, especially with the additional POV for Yahtzee to bounce off.

Peter Waters

Like this format. Detailed enough to provide context and insight. Not too lengthy though.

Austin Phillips

I like this format. It’s “humanizing” for a lack of a better term. It helps me remember Yahtz is a gamer as much as a critic and so hearing about it like this is very satisfying indeed. Thanks for all the work you guys do!

Inverse Skies

Very much into this. I’m not interested in playing pal world at all but listening to Yahtzee and Nick talk about it in much more detail during my drive to work is a fascinating insight. Looking forward to next weeks! Also I caught Yahtzee’s sneaky 1984 reference at about 14 minutes or so.

Post ramblomatic clarity

Very interesting format, thanks! I feel the game is lacking substance but it's good enough to play with friends on a private server, inoffensive enough and for me the different gameplay aspects chain well enough (I'm exploring, then going back to base, farming a bit and it's mostly frictionless). Not going to play it for hundreds of hours. I'm not fond of the progression. It could have half the levels and I'd find it more satisfying because levels would be meaningful. You have a new gathering tool every blue moon, same for capture spheres so most level ups have one maybe useful thing (you can skip at least half of the stuff including weapons and armor and still progress well). Also I'm still iffy about Craftopia, probably serving as a base for Palworld, and being abandoned by the same studio.

Great add to the Patreon and thanks for including it in the podcast stream really helpful, appreciate having all the stuff in one place without having to come directly to patreon

Veeson

This is great! Would be really nice to have something like this as well for Design Delve!

Mellow Magog

For me, Palworld is about finding the efficiencies. Like Nick was saying about having a 2nd base, they seem to be best used for specific naturally occurring resource nodes. If your mining resources yourself after the early game, you're missing something.

TinderFly

Digging the sorta new show. Shame it came out during this week. this format would’ve worked quite well for last episode. (Maybe have a section with some spoiler talk too in future episodes)

Jeremy Claybrook

Really liking this format! Great conversation with Nick and Yatzhee and nice to hear expanded thoughts the game in question. Hope to hear yatzhee chat with other 2nd wind crew in future episodes

LaboratoryManiac

I know the plan going forward is to release these at the same time as Fully Ramblomatic, but I liked how this one being recorded shortly after it went live meant there could be early reactions to the YouTube comments.

Filthy & Free Publishing

Engaging with the feedback like this is good. I hope this always comes out a few hours after so the discussion of the comments is included.

Second Wind

Yup. Yahtzee and I agreed about that after recording as well. That will be the case for future episodes. Gives us more to talk about anyways.

LaboratoryManiac

I would have totally understood if that wasn't possible going forward due to scheduling limitations, but if you're able to keep recording after FR goes live each week, that's great!

Juicy Jeff

Good stuff, the format is great. I wouldn't go beyond 30 mins. A 20-30 minute window is perfect. 👌 This would also be a great way to take spoilers out of the video review and have a discussion here. Yahtz is trigger happy with those spoilers. Great work as always!

Angelnickl

For some reason, it didn't show up on my notification, but thanks to the discord notification I could still listen. Hazzah.

Jakob Hjorth Hansen

I really enjoy listening to this. I like the more elaborate discussion, and the back and forth. It's also why I enjoy Windbreakers. Very good initiative

Skater901

Having never played Palworld and thus only speculating myself... I think it's so popular because it's the archetypal survival crafting multiplayer game that's so popular, plus Pokemon. So if you like either one of those things and can tolerate the other, you'll have fun, and if you like both of those things, you'll have LOTS of fun. And a lot of people like both of those things.

Hyomoto

The it's not for everyone argument always feels lazy because it's like duh. I would argue the critics take has always been what could be done better from the frame of having too much knowledge. You know what the spectrum of possibility is, what could Palworld be? And the answer is a hell of a lot better with pretty minimal work. Saying it's just not a critics game is just lazy hand waving, critics are not a monolith and being popular doesn't mean it's good. It means it's popular. So let's have a discussion about it. Appreciate the work from you, and I'm always for more Yahtzee content.

P. R.

I enjoy this format, I enjoy the more casual tone. I think the thing is palworld is one of those second screen / after work games. It's kinda boring to play on the weekend all day, but putting in an hour or two at a time after work is relaxing.

P. R.

Also totally understand Yahtzees point. Since I played in beta I knew the ingots were super important, so I made an entire base just for ingots and that helped

Ryan Pattison

Love this format as a compliment to the composed, edited, and deliberate format of Fully Ramblomatic. That's Yahtzee's thoughts and voice more officially stamped onto a game. Whereas this is a much more casual, off the cuff dialogue about the game with another person. Reacting to the comments on Fully Ramblomatic is also cool.

Fas

This is literally why I just started playing. Not mentally in the mood to engage with a story based single player game or my usual live service multiplayer stuff so something like this is perfect for me atm. Sound off and background noise on is what I need after work and this fits perfectly for a bit

Fas

Really like this format! Feels like going back to the old "let's drown out" days in a way. Also like this length, just long enough to go into more detail about review points but not so long that it overshadows the review.

Dustin H

I love the candid conversation style of this!

Freakjob

I made a very similar comment to Austin Phillips' in the Discord, and I love it; we've seen in Windbreaker that Yahtz's IRL opinion is a lot more nuanced and calm than his ZP/FR persona. He's still very snarky, but he's not actually /that/ vitriolic or dismissive. Question for the Second Wind crew: will this be added to the various podcast platforms? You guys are my #1 go-to during my drives to work, and this simple back and forth between just two people with no fluff makes for perfect radio.

Joey Johnson

This is mixed too hot. Had to turn it quite down and I can hear everyone breathing. Might be over compression

Second Wind

You should already be able to add it to your service of choice. It has its own feed for subscribers.

Mobius

Liking this. I am generally not a consumer of podcasts, so I like the focused topic. Looking forward to these.

kolby

Very nice listen!! Always a good convo between you two.

Jennifer Burnstein

Enjoyed this a lot. Short and sweet! Looking forward to more, thanks guys

Always_Be_Rogue

This is why I've joined the patreon. I have no interest in Palworld but I have a lot of interest in people talking about something they love (in this case gaming, not actually Palworld 😂)

Pcreed

The flying point making the world become too accessible, I think this is where the glider comes in since it requires you to touch the ground periodically to be forced to explore the world even if it's a means of climbing up to the tallest thing to continue gliding.

Lil' Cass (CJ)

"That's uncanny, how did you know?" I don't know Yahtzee, it's almost like you and Nick have known each other so well for years that he's able to read you quite well like that😛😁🧡

Phobos

Wonderful format! Hopefully this is a big draw for the platform

TamerOz

I know the digimon names off the top of my head Yahtzee... I KNOW o.0

Nathan

I subbed for this feature - just giving feedback love you guys!
