I think we need to count Fire Emblem Fortunes Weave as 4 games. 4 full storylines in one? This game can take 120-200 hours to beat. Help me.

Donald Seaman

Who is your favorite Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave team? I love the meme team of Dietrich and Fabio, Dietrich just wants to fight strong things and Fabio keeps trying and failing to be the bad guy of this story

Holy fricking shirtballs! Why is no one talking about how the SWitcher Remastered has mod support! On a Nintendo console?! That’s just insane. What other Nintendo/3rd party games would benefit from having mods?

Control Resonant has been fun! As a Remedy fan since AW1, minus Quantum Break, the online discussion has been interesting because early players got the game before Remedy patched the damage values. By the time I started it it was too easy. And then even I didn't notice until later that Remedy has a built in difficulty tweaker "assist mode". Messing with that to find the sweet spot of tough but not too tough improved the gameplay a lot for me. It also feels like people forget just how hard Control 1 starts off. You start that game incredibly weak to damage and it's a slow build. The biggest holdover though is the damage padding and it feels like assist mode lets you address that without compromising the damage to a "cheating" level.

I started Control Resonant, but sadly I'm being hit with accessibility issues. There's a lack of camera zoom. Remedy knows fans will want to read everything and this is another game with a lot of whiteboards. Unfortunately, the lack of camera zoom or on-screen text conversion (like in Alan Wake 2) means that I'm having to lean far too close to my monitor to read them all. The arrival of photo mode next month should help with that. Instead of providing a standard HDR calibration screen with an image and a manually adjusted brightness scale until it is/isn't visible, the calibration screen shows frames from the game in different environments. But the issue I had with that is that there's too much to look at in those frames - I can understand why some may like to see how the game looks, but I would heavily prefer the classic calibration screen for that so that I can be confident that the game looks the best. Options are good! It's a shame, really. I'm having a great time with the game otherwise!

I just finished Cai's Part 1 last night and am about a third of the way through Part 2. That's just 45 hours. I am going to be here for awhile.

Far Too Many Frogs

I think there's something to be said about the incoming drought of games we're going to see as we continue to approach the release of GTA 6 and how that's going to be more overwhelming than the release of GTA 6. Also from a consumer perspective: How many people who are casual gamers beyond Call of Duty and sports titles going to be affected by this? Don't get me wrong. It's absolutely overwhelming for me, but I am only really interested in Control Resonant here.

This is exactly why second screen gaming has increased for me over the last year. My backlog keeps growing and my time to be 1 on 1 with a game is not as long as it used to be. I'll still make time for certain games, but it's become common for me to have something on Youtube while I'm on the couch with my Switch 2.

As a father of a 4 month old I needed something I could pick up and put down easily and I didn't want to be overwhelmed so I picked up Fortune's Weave and couldn't be happier with my choice. There are quite simply, too many games so I just sank back into my JRPG comfort zone. Loving it so far.

Simon Lane's Luscious Toesies

Hey fellas, I as a 34 year old father of 2 and fulltime factory worker have given up on buying new games. I have Gamepass and a backlog of games from the 360 through Xbone era of at least 2-300 games. Gamepass on Xbox and pc is the only way I really connect with new games and they produce the occasional gem. Im also the kind of person who has to 100% and play the series or franchise from the beginning. Do you guys have any backlogged games that youve not engaged with strictly because they just seem too daunting with the current release schedule? And as a p.s for a Windbreaker topic: which games universe wins in a Battle Royale? Eg Asuras Wrath universe v God Of Wars? Xoxo

Congratulations! I miss those times every now and again, like at tonight's dinnertime, where my 5 yo threw a huge wobbly about a taco shell breaking when he bit into it.

AnewArtist

Really enjoying Fire Emblem! It is so much game though, especially since I swap story every 5 chapters to get everyone's stories. And the missable content in the game between side quests and supports... and there is very clearly 4 other routes planned for the game that I can see becoming DLC! Huge game, very fun game, and I fear if I can find time for Castlevania, Tales of Eternia, and FF Resonance.

I'm enjoying Control Resonant so far (much more so than Control). It feels more tongue-in-cheek regarding its own absurdities, and the regions feel more distinct than regions of the Oldest House did (this department is dark grey instead of light grey!). I'm especially enjoying how traversal and puzzles requires that I really pay attention to the environment and document clues, similar to how Hell Is Us did. More broadly, is one of those times where being a non-console gamer on a budget works in my favor -- I simply cannot afford to pay $70 to play these games at release, no matter how good they are; and with no PlayStation or Switch, I don't have the choice to play exclusives. Heck, there's a bunch of indies that I want to play as well (Echo Weaver, Fallen Tear, Looking for Fael, Order of the Sinking Star, Valor Mortis); I might actually have the time to try those out ;) As much as I'm expecting to enjoy Onimusha or Blood of Dawnwalker, I will wait for them to go on sale.

Steady Goblin Wood

That's actually really funny. I can't wait for goofy nonsense like that. But I'm sure at a certain point it gets harder to laugh lol

ImmenseCookie

I feel like I'm bucking the trend by jumping into DW3 Remaster tonight - that nostalgia is going to hit me soooo hard and I can't wait 😄

Lots of franchises coming back. Which ones have been significantly better or worse or different then their predecessors? I'm personally excited for Ace Combat 8. Been playing the series since Shattered Skies back on the PS2.

Fuzzy Freestyle

I've had to pick and choose one to two games a month. For September, I bought Onimusha and loved every minute of it. For October I'm looking forward to Tales of Eternia Remastered and Final Fantasy Resonance. Are either of these on Second Wind's radar yet?

Altrus

I too have a small child and I'm very content to sink myself into a good long JRPG when she isn't demanding I play Pizza Possum or Pokemon Snap instead! 3 years old and already has strong opinions about what I should be playing.

Steady Goblin Wood

As long as she doesn't want to watch fortnite or play roblox you're doing great.

DNJ

Maybe it's age, but my anticipation is usually quite tempered, even when I'm quite looking forward to something. But recently I found out there was a Demo for Hellraiser: Revival and rushed to the Steam Store. With growing costs, growing saturation and dodgy business practices making it difficult for games to capture my imagination, what a wonderful feeling, to giddily await the crawl of that download bar. And Marty was right, it did make me feel a bit sick. And I loved every second of it!

LookItsChefEric

There are so many games that the paralysis has set in and instead of exploring new titles I've found myself replaying the Yakuza series just to get away from it all

Juicy Jeff

Purchased Well Dweller on launch day and still haven't opened it because Nick coerced me into Mortal Shell 2. Something tells me I still won't get to Well Dweller before Castlevania drops in 2 weeks...

Inverse Skies

The older I get the more I realise I don’t have to play games as soon as they come out. All the games you listed? Would love to try them. However I’m happy to be patient, put them on my backlog and get to them when they come up, hopefully at a cheaper price too.

Nosk

A buddy of mine left Wolverine in my locker after he finished it, I told him I had just decided to shelve Onimusha after a couple of hours to play Well Dweller. I figure I can finish that pretty quickly and get back to Control Resonant and hopefully get to Silent Hill before the end of October, then once I’ve played Witcher remastered, I’ll play Wolverine.
