What happened to yesterday’s Viktor video? It's gone. Youtube removed it for violating their policy on nudity and explicit sexual content. Even though neither of those things are in the video or audio. I filed an appeal and they rejected it. There's nothing I can do to bring it back. The timestamp they cited as having the explicit content was during the outro where I finished reading Patreon names and it's literally just silent with Patreon names on the screen. That is not explicit content. But I did what I could, I filed an appeal, and they've rejected it and think they're correct. So I can't reupload it. Keep in mind Youtube had already combed through the video when I uploaded it and decided it was allowed and allowed to be fully monetised.

I've heard of other Youtubers who make ASMR roleplay content being hit all the time with 'explicit content' violations even though their videos are entirely SFW and within the guidelines. Youtube just doesn't seem to like this sort of content, or it's AIs can't tell the difference between breathing and kissing and explicit noises (I've seen other ASMR creators say they believe their videos were gone because Youtube's AI thought their whispering and breathing was moaning). I might have to no longer have any kissing sounds in my videos, and be hyper-aware of my breathing sounds and any other sounds I make. Do I now need to edit all my scheduled videos (of which there's a lot because I've been working hard to record months of audios in advance for when I go on a trip this Christmas) and edit out any breathing sounds or anything that Youtube's AI could mistake for a moan? Do I go and remove the outro from all my uploads because that's where the timestamp was that thought complete total silence was sexually explicit audio? If they think I've violated the policy again I won't be allowed to upload for a while. This is my job. My Patreon is my main source of income and the main way people find my Patreon is through Youtube. If I lose this channel I could lose everything, I could be unable to pay rent and food and afford my meds. I don't want to be worrying about that. But this is how Youtube is, and I've seen it happen to other ASMR creators and I guess it's my turn to get their eye on me.

I'm scared to lose my channel and my livelihood. I didn't get a strike for this, but if it happens again I will. The Viktor audio is still up on my soundgasm and on Patreon. But I can't put it back on Youtube, they literally won't let me.

That sounds scary as hell, dude Ik this sort of thing happens to a lot of other creators too— some of them I've seen reupload an edited version of their audio, but I feel like that might be playing with fire. Anyway, I hope it brings some comfort that we're still here! You're stuck with us now, Prince/silly

yeah i can't risk uploading a new version when they won't tell me what was wrong with the video. on youtube the only thing is says is the 11:37 timestamp, which again is total silence with my patreon names on screen so idk what they heard. but then the email says "11:37 and maybe also other areas" which is super not helpful

Another content creator I follow ended up posting through Reddit because of stuff like this. Apparently the engagement there is pretty good, but it’s also Reddit so I don’t know if it’s an appealing option

Honestly fuck AI I despise it so much and it destroys do much for artists and everyone

YouTube is so garbage lately, a ton of people are getting hit right now for quite literally nothing and YouTube says they have real people running the appeals when they clearly don't.

my issue with a lot of subreddits is they dont allow self-promo. so like i have posted my old public nsfw audios to gwa and similar subreddits, but it's against their rules for me to write 'i have more private nsfw audios on patreon' in any of those posts or advertise commissions on any of those posts. i made a post on my own profile to promote myself instead and it got downvoted. so i dont think self-promo is a thing that people on reddit like, idk. i don't know where to post sfw audios on reddit (am willing to learn of any, i only know nsfw audio subreddits). and i cant post any nsfw previews on reddit because it would be self-promo for my patreon.

i also forgot that i can't use reddit anymore without giving them my ID because i'm in the UK and our new laws are that we're not allowed on websites that may have adult content unless we give over our ID/credit card info/face scan. so if i wanted to post to reddit again i'd have to give him them personal info which i'm not super comfortable doing

I'm sorry this has happened to you, Youtube's AI has been getting worse and worse.

Laura

I'm so sorry this has happened, it's ridiculously unfair. How have other content creators coped with false flagging? I've seen a couple make backup YouTube channels just in case, but I know that doesn't really help the core issue of incorrect flagging and a useless appeal system

I think the best thing to do is try to get crystal clear about their requirements . If they are going to flag audios as inappropriate, they should be obligated to explain why. They can’t be messing with people‘s livelihoods without being clear about what they expect. There is an art to complaining. It’s called being nicesty. (a combination of being nice and nasty at the same time) AKA persistence.
