Hey when using the AK Acrylic paints what’s your thin to paint ratios?

The Joust Studio

it depends what you are painting. For edge higlights for example I use basecoat dilution (check videos on Toolbox collection), if I'm doing the shadows or highlights by brush, I will use glaze consistency and such.

Alexander

What about just standard use? Example for the Reddish Grey you are utilizing on this or the light grey

The Joust Studio

usually basecoat consistency, that the paint flows well. If I'm using the airbrush, I use the normal consistency too, 3-4 drops of low improver paint and then 2-3 more drops of thinner

I notice at step 4 (oil paints) a lot of areas have been painted black, is this from the oil paints or do you do a seperate coat of a black to prepare these areas. Also your Gloss varnish before the oil paints is so clean! Is this thinned and/or airbrushed on?

The Joust Studio

Ei, I block in all the details in black. You can do it anytime, sometimes I do it before or after the oil paints step. I apply the varnish through the airbrush to get that smooth finish. Glad to hear you are enjoying it 🙌🏻

Hi! I was wondering if there’s a guide on how to paint the gold & the black backpack, I think it all looks really cool. I just got Into painting & these are my first space wolves! Thank you !

The Joust Studio

You should have one on the brutalis dreadnought for the gold and the backpack uses the same recipe than the black armor of my black Templar tutorial. Check it out and let me know if you don’t find them
