How to Edge Highlight blue armor (Patreon)
Content
🇬🇧 Hi bosses! In this video will go over on how to edge highlight blue armor.
The video will show you the colors and steps and also how do I position the brush and my hands to paint some of the armor edges.
A few more things to take into account when edge highlighting:
1.- Brush. One of the most important things for me. We have reviewed in another post a few days ago, some of the properties that I look for in a brush. Summary: Quality brush, with good tip and decent belly to hold the paint and delay the paint of drying too fast and needing to go to the palette every few seconds.
2.- Paint preparation-proper dilution. A few days ago, we went over how to prepare a wet palette. This is extremely important because will allow us to have the paint wet, with the right consistency and mix easily. When edge highlighting, I try to have the paint quite bit thinned and I load the brush a little bit over half of its belly, so stays wet when working with the tip of the brush. Pay attention to the brush on the video.
3.- Layers. We always go from thicker layer to thinner layer and usually 2-3 layers. From chunky edge highlighting to dod highlighting.
4.- Technique. Position of hands is very important to have the right support and be accurate with the brush. I like having hands together. Whenever possible I like to use the side of the brush to do the highlight with a certain angle depending on the position of the model. Focus on that on the video as well. Some other lines need to be done without edge support and then is when hand positioning is very important to make sure your brush stroke is accurate and is not shaking. As usual practice is very important, so don't get frustrated if you don't get a perfect line at your first attempt, is more than normal. I don't have a very good pulse to be honest, but technique and practice will get you there, trust, don't lose motivation and keep practicing until you master it.
5.- Correction of mistakes. Working with the paint diluted also helps you correcting mistakes, you will have a few seconds to remove the last brush stroke. If this is not possible you can always go to the base color or prepare a mix and fix it.
I will try to get a webcam or similar to have it on top of the wet palette so you can see how I load the brush and work with the paint consistency at the same time, as I think this is one of the most important things to learn.
Hope you find this video interesting and let me thank you for your support again. I will slowly be adding more quality to the content if you keep supporting me like this. Thank you.
🇪🇸 Hola cracks!
Gracias.
