Hey naughty people,

I got a comment that shot me down today. It’s not the first time I got a comment like that but I just want to share my thoughts about the topic.

AND by the latex gods, please, don’t do anything against this person – the comment was not mean and I’m sure the person didn’t want to shot me down.

ALSO, please, this should not deter you from sharing your thoughts and wishes in the future.

I just want to use this moment to address this specific topic since I can assure you, I think a lot about this topic and it weights heavy on me.

The comment was:

“The pics are nice but I really wish you would do another comic like 'RWBY new leadership', there's been so many sets with minimal differences that it's getting boring.”

First seeing that as the first comment sucks, after I spent many hours on this over the last days. But I appreciate you are sharing your honest thoughts.

I'm sorry to hear that the pic and its variants are becoming repetitive for you. Each version may seem minimal, but it takes hours to complete (well beside adding hypno eyes, that goes fast). In the end I’m never sure if the time investment was worth it.

Creating variations is challenging because preferences vary, and it's hard to predict which version will resonate with the audience. Some enjoy the gag version, while others prefer the mask or no mask. Should I try to add some different versions with tentacles if it fits the pic? Or should I invest a lot more time to make bigger outfit changes? Should I leave out popular variants like masked/unmasked for a tentacle version?

Sure there is also the option to make no variations. One pic and that’s it. Downside is, I actually like to do versions. And I have a hard time to decide what would be my favorite version. Plus, I also get comments like “why don’t we have gag version?” or “what not a fully masked version?”

It’s difficult to make these decisions as the artist. Because if I do more variants, I have to spend more time on one pic. This means less other pics in total and also the pics are coming out late in the month.

And I know many enjoy comic pages and doing some of the monthly poll winners as “one page comics” was a lot of fun and I hope I can do it again. But also for these pages I made different variations, since I thought just one page was not “enough”. What about the gag fans?!

I know I can’t make everyone happy, but knowing and living that are two different things.

As most of you know I’m always working on a comic project on the side. Like the Samus, Raven or RWBY comic of the past. Right now I’m working on the "Team Rocket Recruitment" comic (all the line works are up in the WIP folder), but progress is slower than I'd like. In part that’s because, let’s face it, I’m slower than other artists and doing the one-page comics and their variants over the last month ate up more time than I want to admit to myself.

Sadly, art isn’t my only "job". I got a normal day job, a family and a wife who want to spend their time with me. And if I spend time to watch a movie or play a game, there is the voice in my head that says “You are wasting time, you could spend drawing” and I really hate that voice. Be ensured, I push myself to get as many drawings and variants finished, as I’m humanly able to.

Despite all that, I'm determined to continue delivering content that both meets expectations and brings enjoyment. AND I REALLY still enjoy drawing naughty shiny art. I want to draw so much more, try new styles. I got comic ideas that are stuck in my head and want to be shared with you!

Your support means a lot, and I'm grateful for it, I could not spend as much time drawing as I do without the support. That’s a fact. I understand the pressure and expectations, and I'm constantly seeking ways to improve without compromising the essence of my naughty drawings I call “art”. I try this and that to get faster but it’s hard for me to stick to “short cuts” or to “just” work to a level that is “good enough”. I’m doing my art because I love it and want to share this passion with you.

To all, who find my current approach too repetitive, I really respect your decision if you choose to stop your support. The last thing, I want, is to make you feel unhappy or disappointed. Right now, I don’t know how I could change my approach. As said, I try but I can’t make any promises.

If you decide to leave for the time being, I want to thank you for the support once again and I hope you'll keep an eye on my future works. I see you all as part of this small shiny naughty art community and maybe I can pique your interest again someday.

At the end of this “creator cries a lot” post I want to address all of you again and just say:

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH! All of you made profound different in Evees and my life.

Well, personally, I love your art. I could never do what you do, and am constantly impressed by it. And that you got a real-life job on TOP of the sexy, well-done art? Blows my tiny little mind!

As a dancer who doesnt get to dance full time I feel this. How to be faithful to my art when i have a job and a loved one who also deserves my time. Its easy to get wrapped in our own heads about failing our art because of the amount of time we get to spend on it compared to a full time artist, and agreed, comments like your story can hurt, but the key takeaway is you love what you do, and as long as that fulfills you and continues to do so, I think you’re being successful. A different way to look at the comment would be, RWBY has been well received, that’s a success. 💖 So whenever it ends, you’ll know there will be love for another project like it. In the same vein as your topic: to me , Coppelia is a boring ballet to watch. But it doesn’t mean that the dancers performing didn’t do a good job. Though my finances are also stressful and cause me to be an on again off again patron of yours, I’ve loved your art since the original misty psyduck days. Please keep doing what you love to do 💖💖💖

I love your work. Seeing all the variants that you do is awesome. There is always a what if with some art and you bridge the gap rather well to see the other options. In my opinion they never disappoint. They are actually icing on the cake. You don't have to do them but you do. So thank you for putting your time and effort into this! You are awesome and (personally) don't need to change a thing.

Joanthan - my sunshine. If there is one constant ray of light in my comments than it is you.

The main issues that Variant Sets run into is that the core piece of the artwork can end up kinda losing it's identity. It no longer becomes about the subject conveying certain emotions and instead is just a paper doll for people to put their favorite clothing on. I think you actually manage to avoid that. Your sets can have a pretty wide variety of poses and scenarios. I think more people clamor for sequential art from you because, as a hypno artist, the act of brainwashing is more apparent if it's told through more than one piece. But you have shown, time and again, that you can convey it perfectly fine through one. I think what you're doing is pretty damn good, but if you want to cut back on the number of variant sets so you can do more standalone pics, I think that would also work. Ultimately, you have to do what you find fulfilling as an artist and let your audience self-select. There's nothing wrong with trying to appeal to the masses, but I think it's best for you to follow your instincts as an artist and not worry about marketing your art.

Thank you very much for sharing this - I felt that! I get a lot RWBY drone request (to point where I think I don't want to be the "RWBY DRONE artist") but yes I know people only ask for it because they enjoyed it. I enjoyed the comic too - even when it took way to long, was not planned out at all and somehow grown how it did. I shit you not I thought about misty psyduck last week. Ah latex pokemon suits... and than getting the pics removed from deviantart. Good times XD

Shiny Hypnotic

Hey ^^ Thanks for your kind words and taking the time! As said I sometimes would not know which version I would do as the "only version". Seeing a cool visor is sweet but seeing the eyes and expression under it is sweet too!

*hug* I love your work extensively Rosvo, been following you since 2009 or so, and your work has in some perspectives been consistent, but also, that is EXACTLY why I like it so much. You hit that perfect piece that I love seeing, you add variety to it but still stay within the same aesthetic that I love and get immense happiness and joy from. Some might think it's all the same, but I disagree. I think you expand and grow your style on a very organic relaxed scale that is very appealing to so many of us and you have never disappointed myself and so many others. I look at your work now, and from time to time I go back to 09 and the early stuff that I loved to death and I see a massive universe of growth and progress. And I find myself STILL liking your older work and it makes me appreciate the newer work you have done and in many ways it is inspirational for creative types to see how someone starts and where they can go as long as they keep tackling it. That voice that says you should be drawing can indeed be annoying, but you also can tell it to calm down because hey! Look at how much you have achieved and you will achieve more! I'm rootin for you and look forward to seeing whatever you make in the future.

just now Ah Loaka I see the wisdom in your words I just have a hard time to act on it. And lets face it my preferences/ instincts also change quite a bit. From "I should only do a ton of sketches" to "I want to only concentrate on comics" to "I want to draw the damn best high quailty latex shine pic that I ever made!" I think I really need work on the fact that I zoom in way to much when I draw. I try to get every pixel right. Fixing stuff that you would only see if you look at the trying to find mistakes. Some more mini mistakes may even give the pics a bit more lively feel. If the day would have some more hours to try all that XD

Shiny Hypnotic

Hello! Also thank you very much for these sweet words and taking the time! Makes me very happy to read it. Ah the 09 art... I can't go back there. Ok I can but I have close my eyes a bit XD I mean the concepts and ideas are still sweet (well most of them) but my skills back then... oh boy. But than again growing skills is fun and I still have alooooot of room (and need) to grow. Again thanks for the nice comment and support ^^

To each their own, as they say. Personally though, I love your art, and I can tell you give it your all making every last piece of it. I’ve been a fan of your art since early 2019, and will continue to be a proud supporter of your work for as long as am able.

Don't worry about taking a few hours to unwind and take a break. Have a hot cocoa, tune out from things for a bit, relax. And while it may be borderline heresy to say around here, relax without the kinky stuff. Stepping away from things can sometimes be the thing that gets them done better as well. Also, watch some Bugs Bunny cartoons. Those are really good for bringing the laughs.

I've been a fan of yours for several years now, and I love the stuff you've been doing lately. I think I agree with part of the sentiment he was giving off in that, in my own humble opinion, New Leadership 2 is 100% the best hypno/drone content that's ever been made on the internet. It just pushed all of the right buttons. I also think the suits in general from that comic are the best "Drone Format" for lack of a better phrase because of the detail they include. I personally hope you keep including an option for other characters in the suits for the monthly polls, because I think they're always hot. All in all, art is a passion and you should do what you want. I know you aren't the "New Leadership Guy" and there's always going to be a variety of content here. But, for what it's worth, that comic was awesome and I love the latest Ann art you made that uses the same suit.

Shiny Hypnotic

Turns out, the fact that there is a new comic in work flies under many people radars. In part my fault since I did not communicate update about that one aggressively on Patreon. I'm thrilled to hear that, thank you very much ^^

Shiny Hypnotic

But kinky stuff is relaxing XD But yes, I know what you want to say. And I thank you for saying it. I watched some of the newer Bugs Bunny stuff. Was not bad at all I must say.

Shiny Hypnotic

I’m really sure, New Leadership 2 is not the best but who am I to argue about that XD The people in the Tiger Tier are the ones who send in all the ideas for the poll. But I would not worry about the RWBY suit going away anytime soon. More than one Tiger-Patron enjoys that suit. Also RWBY ideas with the suit have a good track record of winning the polls. Sometimes, I just suspend RWBY ideas from entering the poll since drawing every month the same suit (even if it is sleek and sexy design) gets a bit old for me too.

Mannybot-01

i don't know what to say other than you are doing great art. and many people have many different opinions i like both the comics and your illustrations it is sexy and fun. you are the artist you have the final say. we are your audience we understand. and if you want to change something in the art we can support as best we can

Shiny Hypnotic

thank for the kind word. It's good to hear that over the voices in my head XD
