This week, I replaced a PC slave with a new 5090 one. Rendering with it works well, and it was easy to set up. I will continue to upgrade my systems and share the news with you as they are done.

I updated my DAZ3D version to the most recent build and was pleasantly surprised to find that they had added geometry sculpting, which is something I use in 99% of my renders. It's basically a tool used to fix skin poking through clothes and other similar issues.

This DAZ3D update almost enabled me to pose static renders with the alpha version as a standard. However, I was missing two essential scripts that make characters look at objects and the camera when posing.

DAZ3D scripts are encrypted, so there's often no way to check out the code that a script developer wrote. I'm not sure how long it will take for DAZ and script developers to update the scripts. At the moment, you can't even sell scripts for the new DAZ alpha version on the DAZ store.

My problem was that I needed those two scripts now. So, I said fuck it and tried to write similar scripts from scratch by myself.

Luckily for me, DAZ3D scripts are written in C++, which I've worked with professionally prior to game development. Using outdated documentation for obsolete functions and trial and error, I managed to emulate the necessary functionality in DAZ3D Alpha. I was able to write the scripts I needed, and they work great.

This image shows the result of running the scripts I wrote.

It might seem like a small thing to do, but manually posing the eyes without the characters looking off-target is very hard without a script. It's also time-consuming to pose the eyes compared to pressing a shortcut after selecting a character.

I have been working with the latest DAZ alpha version since Monday, and I have encountered only a few bugs that have not significantly impacted my workflow.

I have mostly posed static renders this week, working through a canon scene and branched scenes with Sage and Jill.

I also posed a handful of animations. For this, I had to return to the old DAZ build, but it wasn't a big problem to work in this way.

Checking the dialogue I have written, I only have four more scenes to pose static renders for before I need to return to writing. Those four scenes are roughly equal to 350 static renders.

It's a very good feeling to catch up on the writing with the art. I will likely pose three out of those four scenes next week and continue to write more dialogue.

Have a nice weekend

When you have determination, those mountains become pebbles. Well done.

Thanks for the update love the details on the eyes and scripts

Lilatentakel

Hello Doc, Thank you for the DevLog. It's great that you're upgrading the hardware bit by bit. What are you doing with the old hardware? You must have a lot of old graphics cards, etc. DAZ, DAZ3D, Blender...I'm glad I didn't become a developer. I would be hopelessly lost. That's why I find it fascinating when someone masters something like that and ends up with something as brilliant as BaD. I wish you and everyone else a wonderful weekend and stay healthy.

mERCILESS

I hope the hardware update will speed up the update date. I'm very impatient. Good luck.

John Vue

Nice. A well deserve upgrade.

This sound exciting, maybe the DAZ people asks you for your scripts! :D

RicardoS

You are not the only one here my Brother...👍💯😁

Arta

Good stuff DPC. Enjoy your weekend.

Upgrade it all up, Doc. Just like I am with my laptop ✊🏻😅! Good work on the scripts (even though I don't understand anything; I'm not tech smart, but I just like to listen 😅). It would be kind of funny if MC was talking and all of the girls were just staring into space 🤣. Now that I've said it, I would love to see it actually 😂. I feel like we're (you mostly) breezing through this release/update 😁. Thanks for the update, DPC! Keep on keeping on and doing what you do 😉!!! ALWAYS EXCITED AND EAGERLY WAITING FOR YOUR WORK 🙌🏻🔥!!! Hopefully by then, my new laptop will be ready, but for now, I'll just stack up on hype, excitement, and anticipation in the meantime 😁. Love and appreciate you 😘, your ladies 🥰, and your game 😍! Whether you're still dealing with the Summer 😎🌞🏖🔥 (it's like a beautiful girl; HOT and keep playing with me 🤣) or in the Cold Winter 🥶❄⛄🧊 (my Southern Hemisphere people). Always stay hydrated, everyone. Stay safe, stay blessed, and stay in PERFECT health, beautiful people! Have an amazing and beautiful week! I'll catch you all—ON THE NEXT ONE ✌🏻😁!!!

awesome look forward to hearing how the new 5090 works. as for the geo modeling and the look script those are going to be big time savers..

Chunchunmaru

Same. I finished another josy and Maya run but somehow I found a scene with josy I never saw before. Now I'm on Belle

DPC is giving it to me (I wish 🤞🏻😁). Ain't that the truth; I would be so confused, lost, and stressed the HELL out 😅 if I were a Dev. So much hard work and dedication. And I'm not tech savvy, so I AM F'd 😂. But I bet after that first release, and receiving feedback and help from the amazing community. I might be able to get going. 😁. Not that I'll ever be a Dev.... I'll leave that to the professional 🤣. Plus, I heard it changes your perspective on AVNs since you'll know the inside out and all the details. It removes the magic a little 😥.

Mostachon

I find it incredible how you have been improving the graphics from season to season, and it is even greater that you feel you can improve it even more. The love and attention you give to the game is very noticeable. We really appreciate it.

Land Shark

You just keep getting better and better, DPC!

Scott

This is the stuff. Doc doesn't have what he needs. He decides, screw it, I'll make what I need. He then proceeds to build his own script, the others sounded possibly sketchy anyway. He then moves on with development of what he needs. Good stuff DPC. Have a great weekend all.

Nosam_

Is it normal to do the scene posing before writing the dialogue? I imagine it would be the other way around

Robert

Aye good shit! Glad it is working out for you! Excited for this next episode 😎🫡👀. Have a great weekend everyone!

Kurmblog

Awesome progress Doc! Have a great weekend!

DrPinkCake

I never do it. The dialogue is the recipe for the scene. Making the art first would be very weird. Art takes a longer time to create than dialogue too. It's faster to correct mistakes in writing than it is to correct mistakes in art because of ideas that come during creating.

2026-09-05 14:00 Please get a proper editor for the dialogue. The grammatical errors and poor word choices are distracting from the storyline. (It would also be nice if "Skip Minigames" actually skipped all the minigames too. People choose to do that for a reason.)

...what the... Have we been playing the same game? Or perhaps I am misunderstanding and you're playing on some non-English translation..? Granted, I'm not a native English speaker, but I've played (read..) my fair share of AVNs at this point, and BaDIK is nowhere close to what I would call "distracting" with its grammar. What are you on about? I doubt DPC or anyone will come to *you*, since you're the one raising the problem. If it's an actual issue and you're not just randomly trolling, then you should follow Scott's suggestion. At least to show some concrete examples of what you mean.

HunterTheDIK

"I'll write my own script with blackjack and hookers" love the energy

RC Slyman

Well I certainly am a native English speaker and can say that, for the most part, the dialogue doesn't distract from the story. Some of the other more popular AVNs out there have far worse scripting. Is BaD perfect? No. But it's not like someone is going to go through the script and redline every other sentence, either. And, for that matter, it's not supposed to read like an English Comp assignment. These are supposed to be real people, talking to each other in real time. Yeah, some of the phrasing doesn't sound natural when looked at from the perspective of a live conversation, but real people don't speak in Essay. So a lot of this "poor word choice" can be chalked up to maybe try speaking to real people again. Or just wait for the damned guide to come out after the entire season releases like the rest of us.

Tim Anderson

Awesome Dr PInk, keep kicking ass.

2026-09-05 14:00 are you doing a new game after this one is done

I hope this one isn't done for a long time... I don't mean Episode 12, I mean Being a DIK. I want more seasons.

CST1992

Based on what I'm reading about the scripts, it seems you are getting rid of a bottleneck. Does this mean more renders in the same amount of time going forward?

Jamison

Season 4 is the last for BaD
