Personally I think it is a very good first episode. Interesting encounters, nice feel of progress to it. Renders are top notch. I like mini games so I always enable them. That said, I feel I kept running out of time on the English test even when I made a list of words to enter. Could hit 70 but not 90+. Brawling was fun. Shuffle I didn't complete the puzzle even once, perhaps I'm just horrible at it 🤣. And finally the one thing that annoyed the piss outta me, the music choice is horrible. It's far too present and immersion breaking (doesn't fit the mood of the scenes at all most of the time). Luckily for me it's turned off with a few mouseclicks so no deal breaker, the important stuff is superb so keep it up!

DrPinkCake

Interesting. I could increase the time slightly in the minigame and try it. Something that wasn't evident in Episode 1 but hopefully will be in the future: Minigames becomes easier as you level up the skills by buying boosters and cheats. I will keep this feedback in mind and revisit the English minigame after another episode or two. Thanks for sharing! Also, the shuffle game had a horrible bug that I have fixed. In some of the cases, it generated a puzzle that couldn't be solved. It will be fixed with the next patch or release.

The brawling system needs work in my opinion. I believe it would be a lot more fun if you changed it from a chess like mechanic to anything else really. You could have it be role play based where if someone is punching with their right arm then you have to dodge right underneath the attack, or something along those lines but more complicated so it's not too easy. You could also have it be a retro final fantasy like combat style with attack, special attack, block, and dodge buttons and all of those buttons have varying degrees of success based on the stats the player has allocated. I'm not saying the brawling system as it is right now is bad, I'm just saying it was annoying to: 1- Fight while holding the CTRL button because its so slow otherwise. 2- Using rinse and repeate tactics to defeat opponents. I would literally move between two specific squares and win the fight that way. Its a bit cheap and boring if you ask me. All that aside, you have a wonderful game and story here and I look forward to whatever updates you release in the future. You have a wonderful way of portraying characters realistically. The moments of anger are justified, and the moments of happiness truely do put a smile on my face. I usually don't use patreon but your vision has convinced me that you deserve the support. I would also not mind if you need help with story ideas or otherwise, I've been told that I'm a decent writer in my time. Keep at it, Good man.

DrPinkCake

Thanks for the feedback, I will think about it. Making a new system will take a lot of time. Brawler took me 80 hours to code and render. I would rather improve upon it than scrap it. I do see your point, though.

I must say for a first episode, this was a well polished product. Did not have any real problems going through any of the games, except one, ans that was the shapes, but then I was trying to hurry up for the friendship scenes. kKeep up the good work.

I use to suck at sliding puzzles, but this game has a proven that it's worth mastering. I can solve that 3x3 in under 20 seconds now.

David Wilson

loved everything about the game except brawlers

First, I'd like to say that this chapter was a fantastic opening for the game. Already one of my favorite adult games because of it. I enjoyed the renders, I was interested in learning about all the characters, I even liked the MC for the most part. The environment set up also made me curious as well. The freeroam was an interesting aspect and I always appreciate when freeroam actually can lead to optional stuff as was the case here so that gets a plus for me. I really enjoyed the applications on the phone too with all the renders, stats, and bios and whatnot. The texts and calls were an excellent addition and I only realized I could call people in the final freeroam. The minigames could use work. I wasn't a fan of them but I enjoyed the fact that there are rewards (and good ones too) for using them. Wasn't a fan of the rewards being girls who I haven't interacted with yet though but it wasn't that much of a bother. The brawler game especially could use work. I liked the choices we were able to make so far. I stayed in a mostly neutral route but ended up just into the first chick bar at the end. I may have missed out on a lot of content but I had a good time nonetheless with what I saw. I'll have other playthroughs to try out different content so it doesn't bother me. I wasn't a big fan of the DIK/CHICK system. I like the idea behind it, but to me, it's a sign that I'll get locked out of events that sometimes wouldn't have a strong reason for me to be locked out of. I think of Mass Effect in this aspect where you're basically playing a specific good/bad character and I think that's a very annoying limitation, especially in a game like this. I much prefer having choices like in Witcher where your choices affect other choices without having a "morality" system. I do think there is room to make the system work though so I hope you find that balance. As for my favorite scene? Well personally I'm going with the Maya scene before the shocking conclusion. She's one of, if not, my top girl so far, and that scene had a great variety of animations to go along with it as well as interesting dialogue.

Steele76

I did like play the game, tough, I am playing the mini-games only for the rewards, because I don't like it. The English test was rough, I think the concept of clicking on a letter is too long, maybe the keyboard will be better. The thing I don't like is when you are a middle player, not a DIK nor a CHICK, you seems to don't have access to anything like for example giving a hug to you know who on the first day nor checkup a girl either. As for the freeroam, I found it interesting, but you seems to be limited of the place you are unless you are making a call. For the music, I will give a longer pause between the start of the same song, it's beginning to be harassing at long if you don't try shuffle or else.

- Freeroam: What did you think of it? Loved this feature! I have no idea if you were inspired by DeLuca Family or if it's simply a matter of Great Minds Think Alike, but switching between linear-VN play and Sandbox-style play is awesome. My only suggestion here is to let the freeroam be free-roamier! Incentives for leaving the dorm and exploring the campus during freeroam would be great. Secret scenes with minor nPCs that you stumble on because you roamed around campus at the right time would give the game’s “universe” a more complete feel, like there’s a real world to explore more than just a linear (although clearly branching) story on rails. Exploring Maya’s room to find some money and secret photos is one thing; imagine being able to explore the whole campus at different times because there’s a chance to stumble on an interhouse panty-raid or peeping/voyeur scenes or build stats by walking into a fracas and being able to choose fight or flight… So many possibilities! Giving the player a chance to explore open-world possibilities immerses that player into the game’s setting so that the story you are actually focused on telling is enhanced. - Minigames: Which ones were fun? Which ones were less fun? First the education minigames: It wasn’t that either was fun/less fun as much as one was extremely easy (math) and the other was surprisingly difficult even for a native English speaker (I imagine it was extraordinarily challenging for a non-native speaker). Also, the English class game didn’t make sense in terms of being a student in the class. Has anyone ever done anagrams in an American/UK English Language Arts class? That being said, it was definitely more fun to solve than answering grammar questions or “Samuel Clemens changed his name to Mark Twain because…” type of questions. My feedback here: First, don’t change it—we want updates, not rewrites requiring hours of coding! Second, maybe allow the player some kind of option to skip the mini-games when they are replaying the game on a different path. If I’ve played and won the first mini-games on the DIK path, and I want to replay on the neutral or CHICK path, being able to skip them would be a nice feature. (PS if we’re talking about hours of coding to implement this, then it is NOT worth it haha). Secondly, the fighting game. I realize I might be in the minority, but I actually really liked this game! It was new, intuitive, clever, and challenging without being overly difficult. I look at the left to see my possible moves, I look at where my opponent is, I either move somewhere I think he might go for my attack or realize there’s no attack options so I move somewhere he can’t attack me. I haven’t figured out the clinch thing, but I also only read the instructions once and never felt the need to revisit. Maybe if it eventually gets too difficult to win, I’ll need to figure that part out :). - Major choices system, it's still early in the game, but what were your initial thoughts? I very much like the extra “warning” that this-right-here-particular decision is more important than other decisions. Nice feature! However, I will find it annoying in the future if, say, several updates from now I find out that a major choice in this update precludes certain content for an obscure reason that was NOT intuitive at the time. For a purely hypothetical example, if choosing to fight your roommate or not in this release means that three or four releases from now the player can’t continue pursuing Jill because [reasons]… that is lame. Sure, we know enough about Josy and Sage where it’s intuitive to imagine how choosing to be aggressive or reasonable might affect how those two may react. So if the choice to fight affects our relationship with either of those two girls, okay. I just hope moving forward the Major Choice System gives the player a chance to use intuition and cleverness rather than random chance or retrospective elements. - DIK/CHICK system, what are your thoughts? This might be dumb on my part, so feel free to disregard, but by naming it DIK vs CHICK it seems like you’ve purposefully guided a vast majority of your players to avoid certain choices simply because of the CHICK label. I personally enjoy games where there is an option for the MC to be less of an asshole! But it’s weird that being Not-An-Asshole-All-The-Time means being a “chick.” In my first playthrough my status was very neutral at the end, and that was me playing without giving much thought to which category the choices might be in. I made confident aggressive choices in some situations and gentlemanly choices in other situations, depending on how I felt. So it’s actually super cool that making the choices I *feel* like making leads me down a certain path! I like playing without that nagging feeling of “which choice am I *supposed* to make?” But again, hopefully the first impressions of the girls give players intuition for their choices. It seems clear right that Sage likes DIKs more than Josy does, for example, so I just hope those rugs aren’t pulled out from underneath our feet as players. I dunno, I just think it would be pretty lame if several updates from now we learn, “Oh, Josy liked aggressive jerks this whole time, and Sage was actually a sucker for romantic gentleman. How ironic!” That’s just bad, melodramatic story-telling. Again, it’s weird thinking about choices with those “DIK” and “CHICK” labels, but I can get over that. CHICK rhymes with DIK, so it seems a bit lazy, but it’s fine :). - Any favorite scene? MC, Maya, and her brother on the bench cracked me up. The game needs more of those scenes! I mean, there will never be another Liam, but I hope the next release has a few more humorous scenes? I imagine the issue here is that the MC doesn’t have a lifelong friend like Liam where the banter and jokes played off each other, but I’m sure you’ll figure it out in this game! : )

Fealow

I don't hear anything about the music that I would describe as unfitting. However I do agree with what said about the english test and I also never finished the shuffle puzzle.

Beastman

The timer on the English puzzle was too short. I could never get over about 60%. The puzzle was impossible for me in the time allowed. The Boxing game was pretty cool and seemed balanced enough. It was challenging at first, but doable, and got easier with skill bumps. The Math game was super easy for me, but I guess I'm good at pattern recognition.

DrPinkCake

I will increase the timer with 25% and see if ppl find it better. It is supposed to be challenging but not impossible.

DrPinkCake

Impressive. It will be easier to solve them as I fixed a bug that generated unsolvable puzzles on occasion. Also with cheats it becomes a cake walk.

DrPinkCake

There will be neutral paths to take and consequences from choices too. One example of what I think you're getting at is josy in the start of the game. Texting with her in freeroam unlocks dialogue and choices that aren't there if you didn't. I will include more of this. Don't see the dik chick system as a compass. Think of it as the results from your choices.

DrPinkCake

Great feedback. Freeroam I will definitely do bigger and better. First release was me figuring out the mechanics and writing the fundamental code. It takes a long time coding it compared to creating renders, which is a welcome change for me. DIK and chick, yup its because it rhymes and is offensively opposites. I think some are putting too much weight on the actual word and should feel confident that it's the opposite of being a dick instead. Intuition will likely get you where you're supposed to be eventually. Some choices may be bigger than they seem, but major choices are used to shape your character and will have a significant importance in the end of the game. That's all I can say. Thanks!

Dracker Drap

Yep I saw this response from you on f95 so it set my mind at ease. I wish you luck and I'll be eagerly anticipating the next update :D

First off, amazing episode. Characters are great, there was a lot of content, and I had fun exploring everything in the episode. Story is shaping up nicely, as well. Very excited for the future episodes. General comments below: To echo a few others, the sliding scale system with two polarities is always a concern in games because you are frequently forced to choose one extreme or the other, else you will miss out on content or options. I do hope there is plenty of support for 'neutral' (or back and forth) type decision-makers and that we aren't consistently locked out of certain content because we don't totally align ourselves with one of the two extremes. I understand that it adds replayability, but it never feels good to be short-changed on content on a playthrough of a game when you ultimately made the decisions you *wanted* to make, and didn't lean enough in a direction. I think it's awesome that I want to make varied decisions in your game, that speaks volumes to the depth. I'm not just clicking whatever will get me to certain 'ends' faster. Think the DIK/CHICK distinction is also a bit out of place. I get the rhyming, but it feels like 'chick' is a weighted word that brings strange undertones when applied to decisions you make within the game (i.e. I didn't beat the shit out of my roommate, what a 'chick' move). Think it also could alienate certain people by labeling it that way. Not a deal-breaker for me, just the thoughts. Mini-games: I'll do them for rewards, but frequently it will feel like I'm just grinding (referring to the phone mini-games). Not sure I ever enjoy grinding during a game. I enjoyed all the test mini-games for your classes (math, english, gender studies). But that's a personal thing. I think the fact that there are certain in-game boosts will go a long way to reduce the grinding feeling, so that's a positive and I think a good design choice since not all games will be for everyone. I think the English test could prove difficult for non-native speakers as well, which is something to consider, potentially (again, I enjoyed it, though). Freeroam is fun as long as there are things to do. I think being able to text and call characters is a great way to keep the player immersed during these segments. I like that direction and think it should definitely continue to be developed that way. It's good to warn players about major choices, even though it breaks immersion a bit. It's always a feel-bad moment if a seemingly minor or innocuous choice ends up being a major thing later in the game because the context isn't fully developed. For example, taking Quinn's number seems harmless enough (what if you never use the service?) so the fact that I know it's being weighted heavily adds an appropriate layer of context. Enjoy the music varieties, and that we can go next on the player if we don't like the song. I think music is really underrated in games. On a similar note, I understand a lot of people enjoy voice-acting in these games, but for me, it frequently takes me out of it, especially if the actors are of varying levels of quality. Thank you for including the option to mute the voices, please keep this in the game! This episode is better than almost anything else out there, really excited to see where you take this project.

Antilles

Just an amazing first release! More content than a lot of games have after a full year of development! I'll add to the chorus that the English test could use a bit more time. I also think maybe starting with 2 movement in Brawler would help a bunch of people out with it. That's really all I've got for constructive criticism, otherwise I just want more of everything! Especially looking forward to getting some wild angry sex with Quinn!

CLAUS LARSEN

Fully agree here. I've yet to see a "Can't be neither Dik or Chick" option.

Wolvy

Amazing episode Doc! I am going to try and keep this short. lol - Freeroam: What did you think of it? I like the freeroam Doc. I like being able to roam and talk to some of the other characters, use the cell to call or play the games to earn cash. - Minigames: Which ones were fun? Which ones were less fun? I have always sucked at puzzle shuffle games and still do. I admit it's my least favorite but I don't mind playing it for the cash. I also haven't used the cheat yet to help with it. The brawler app is fun and pretty straight forward. Will there be other challengers or will those three be it? - Major choices system, it's still early in the game, but what were your initial thoughts? Is that where it says you have to be a DIK/Chick to make that choice? If it is then knowing that this is an important decision is nice. I like it. I like that you also give a warning about going to far down the road not to be able to go back. - DIK/CHICK system, what are your thoughts? I think it is an interesting system and kind of reminds me of some other games I play. - Any favorite scene? Can I just say all of them? LOL You really upped your game on this one Doc! I mean seriously, AL was amazing but you really have a hit here. The renders are Fing amazing and the animations are really smooth looking. If I had to choose one or two would be the MC and Isabella in the library after she caught him naked and Jill and Isabella after Jill talked to the MC. Isabella has my complete attention. I believe there is a story behind Bella and you haven't told it yet. =) I can't wait if so. I also get the feeling Jill and Bella are close from the talk and hug they had. I can't wait to see what episode 2 is like Doc!

DrPinkCake

Thank you for the feedback. I'm glad you like the game so much. Buy cheats and boosters for the minigames that you need help with and you will find them much easier in the future. There was a bug in the Shuffle puzzle in the current release that has been fixed for the next release. It will also make the game simpler.

2026-09-05 14:00 Overall: awesome game, I really enjoyed it! The good times and the bad. Good story. - Freeroam: What did you think of it? I quite liked it. It was a nice change of pace from the main story to have options available, choosing whom to contact and what order to do things in, and hunt for the hidden objects, which were hidden in a way that made a vague sort of sense. My only advice is don't make the maps too complex. - Minigames: Which ones were fun? Which ones were less fun? I really enjoyed the tests, especially English and Gender Studies. On the English test I clearly cheated because the time was too short, but I enjoyed pausing the game to find 100% of the words on my own. The time turns out to be about twice as much as I need to enter them all, once I figure them out. Shuffle is a little frustrating but maybe I haven't figured it out properly yet. Brawler wasn't much fun I have to say, especially with low stats but even with high ones. At the moment I consider both of them chores to get the associated rewards. One thing I would say is they're both very thematically appropriate: a fighting game and a sexy pictures game are spot on for the setting :) One suggestion: the biggest shortcoming of brawler as a game seems to me that it's really not enjoyable with low skills, so you're not motivated to try again and improve; but on the other hand the opponent that rewards you with more skills is the one that's hardest to beat. How about putting the skill point as a reward for beating the medium difficulty opponent? Another suggestion: other appropriate apps for the setting would be something like tinder, or social networking. How about giving, say, the bio app a social look and feel, or seeing photos taken by other people of events on campus, e.g. the MC getting a wedgie? - Major choices system, it's still early in the game, but what were your initial thoughts? Not sure yet. I think it's good to have the major ones signposted in a long game. - DIK/CHICK system, what are your thoughts? Seems good to me so far. Most of all, the choices themselves seem to be thematically appropriate, and none of them seem too far fetched or clearly pathological (like being mean and petty just for the sake of it). - Any favorite scene? I thought nearly every scene was well placed - plausible and thematically appropriate. I don't think I have a favorite scene, but I do have characters I'm more interested in than others, so maybe I like the Maya scenes because <3 Maya :p and her brother was just odd on his own but he's a great foil for her to be mad at! Sage also seems like someone with a good heart, I look forward to getting to know her better. Lastly, the music kicks ass :p Good choice!

Chicken Knight

Just wanted to drop a big compliment. Because of this you made me join patreon. You are crazy talented - especially if you do all that really by yourself. You have an understanding of realistic expressions that gave me goosebumps because I didn't expect to see that in a private project.

Chicken Knight

Just thought "I want this person to have my money"

Eldon Freeman

Mini games - Yes, but if the outcome enable content, I want to be able to retry them

xxilef

I enjoyed playing and don't have much to critize, however: 1 - The first Brawler games were HARD and I still only win by excessively saving and reloading. 2 - Would it be possible to color-code the DIK/CHICK choices 3 - give some immediate feedback on stat-changes.

Eldon Freeman

The Brawler game felt a bit repetitive. Perhaps it gets more exciting when you have more skills. The class minigames were fun! It's going to be hard for you to come up with new ones though...

Eldon Freeman

When picking up stuff in freeroam, it's nice if you can get a clue when you've found everything.

Fresh Prince

1- "Free-roam (Aka: Sandbox)": Not a great fan of it. I prefer mostly traditional VN experiences. At least here it was mildly tolerable, since it was not a major aspect of the game, but i prefer without it. 2- "Mini-games": One more time, not a fan of mini-games as well, especially in VN’s where I expect the story to carry through, not mini-games. I can say the most tolerable one was surprisingly the math mini-game. English mini-game was tricky, I’m a non-native but have contact with the English language close to 20 years now, did the IELTS not for immigration purposes but for padding my CV for job applications in my own country, and even then, I found it somewhat tricky. Had a better experience playing thought with the mini-games OFF, but it’s not properly balanced right now, since you can earn Extra points with them ON. Did an ON and OFF playthrough, my enjoyment was tenfold with this preference OFF, so I appreciate the option, but it’s a bummer that you can’t unlock images with then OFF, but I somehow understand the reason. 3- "Major choices system": Finally, something I can fully support. This right here can be a game changer. 4- "Any favourite scene": Will need the fully package to rank it, but as of now, mostly involving Sage, Isabella or Quinn (Hope she's not a side-heroine only).

Really to early to really give constructive feedback, Haven't even been able to work out if even a balanced path or just been an asshole or a floor mat, to be honest this alone keeps me putting off giving serious playtime. The apps in phone seem fine except brawler, thats just ridiculous and glad that you have canned idea of renders and such mini game only. Maybe if $ invested it might have more fun but with limit on dollars (both earnings and cap) you have no clue how much investing in mini game will cost you in main game next update. So as is you really only have choice on first attack and then obligated by cooldown so only choice after first turn is where to move and since you always moving first its random BS and all you can do is minimise angled or direct squares dependant on your attack available. Probably wait a few updates and try again but simply cant get into concept at moment.
