I rarely have to post bad news, but today I must, so let's get it out of the way.

I've been asked to remove all songs from The Friday Prophets from the game.

When I downloaded their songs from Soundcloud, they were uploaded with the CC BY-SA 3.0 license, making them free to use commercially, but this usage wasn't what they intended.

I reached out to them four years ago about using their songs, and I got my reply this week asking me not to use their music and to remove anything I had added since.

It's sad for all of us, for me, the game, and fans, since the songs have grown to become iconic during that time. No replacement to Punk Rock Flu will give the same nostalgic feeling when you start the game or a new episode, at least not for many more future episodes and years to come.

I will respect their copyright and remove all their songs from Seasons 1/2, and 3.

Please, I ask you not to direct any negativity toward them because of this decision.

I truly believed I used their songs in good faith because of the licenses, and it's unfortunate for everyone that it came to this.

I tried my best to replace the songs with similar tunes to preserve the college feeling of the game. We'll see what happens in the future regarding the title song.

Patch v0.8.3 is live

I had to work with preparing new builds for Steam/GOG/Patreon this week, which isn't all that bad since it gave me the chance to include a bunch of other bug fixes alongside this.

This impacted the game development by a few days, but now I don't have to worry about patching Season 1/2 when it's time to release episode 9.

All work with the patches is now done, and I can go back to focusing on episode 9 again.

My team of testers and Discord staff have been awesome in helping out with verifying the bugs and builds, and they saved me a tremendous amount of time by helping out.

The new patches are live on Steam, GOG, and Patreon now.

If you want the latest bug fixes for the Patreon version, version 0.8.3 is available here.

You can patch your current Patreon v0.8.0/v0.8.1/v0.8.2 version if you'd like to receive all bug fixes. It is a smaller 415 MB patch for episodes 1-8.

If you can't patch your game, the full download (v0.8.3) is also available here.

There's no new content in v0.8.3, and I didn't post the patch as a big release post as I don't want to confuse anyone into thinking that episode 9 is being released with this patch.

You can find the changelog in the release posts.

Similar changes for Season 3 (Interlude) will come together with the upcoming v0.9.0 release, including episode 9.

Development news

Onto the development news.

Aside from work mentioned above with the patches, I started the week working on static renders.

I also wrote five more scenes for the episode, one per main girl.

I've started planning and working on the new main menu art for Season 3. I want the main menu to look as good as possible for the duration of Season 3. I have made nine new art pieces for the main menu and have 10-15 more to make. Next week's status update will show you a preview of the main menu.

I will continue my work next week to complete this task and then continue with static renders.

PCs have been rendering animations, and there has been no downtime regarding rendering this week.

Thanks for your support and understanding during this unusual time.

We'll get through this!

Have a nice weekend

F (so sad to see those songs gone) 😭

Connor

😞😞😞

JODA

Idk if this is gonna work but I have an old copy downloaded (the game), could start them up at the same time and keep it in the background just for that feeling

Ashley Adams

Sad to hear the songs are gone, but excited to hear some new found music at the same time!

Ruthless

Dang it will be truly missed

alexander higgins

What a mad cunt this bloke or shela continues to update us with new knowledge on the games progress 👏

Brash

Sad to hear...

D1pstick

Sad to see the bangers go but obviously gotta respect their wishes..

tollkupak

Is there any chance to buy the rights of using their song for your game? I mean if you choose them because they were free, now there is the opportunity to buy from them.

Nikuman

Punk Rock Flu is iconic, a shame you can't use it anymore.

Flip

F

Blue

Nooooooó

Samurioka

Ask Mayhem if u can use their songs :D

Aishkof

Sad... :( thx for the update Doc

DogCat Studio

Really sad news. I hope the replacement will be good. Soundtrack is one of the most important aspects of any game.

Ben Engledow

As if it took them four years to reply 😂

Luca Zipfel

What a huge bummer. You phrased it best. The songs became iconic.

BigDIKpappEEE

How ever long it may take, sad indeed but...with your taste, background in music, upmost confidence you slid in some other bangers, haaa. DPC we appreciate all your hard work. DIK army lesssss GOOOO

Alexir

Sad but understandable Gotta having a hard time to move on from those amazing pieces

Till Jagodzinski

It is sad you can Not use their songs anymore. I actually Always wanted to Look the names of the Songs Up to buy them as LP or CD never got around it. But eben though i Know now i can only find tthem as mp3 and i want a physical Copy. 😕

Legs

Sad to hear. Next episode is gonna hit different, but nonetheless hit as hard, I'm sure.

Matt Davidson

Damn dude that sucks hard. Your game is what got me into their music and I probably would never have heard them otherwise.

JOE

Would it be possible to start a project where we could raise money to get Dr.PinkCake to copyright the music, because I love “Punk Rock Flu” so much😢😢🤯

Error23401

Sorry to hear the reason I even know the band is you used there music sucks but not much to be done

opily

Sad to hear this😔

Eric Jones

I'm really digging the new music. I kinda prefer it to the original track.

GAZZA

Are they the ones that do the "Another lonely afternoon sitting all alone, with the TV and the phone..." one? That's my personal favourite. In all seriousness I don't see there's a villain to be angry at here - they obviously have the rights to control where their music is used, and you're doing the right thing by acknowledging that.

Jamison

yeah, the new title song feels odd. Definitely not the same feel as Punk Rock Flu. Not sure why, but Punk Rock Flu felt more college-like and also made me think of the movie Animal House... weird, I know.

Levi Sage

I would support this

Del

I suppose I wonder if the problem was to do with the type of game the songs were in, not a question of paying for rights. All due respect to the band, as it is their intellectual property, but I think they may have overlooked the advantages. After hearing the songs in the game, I liked them so much that I went to Spotify the rest of their stuff. I think any opportunities to get your music out there generally helps you. Case in point being that song played during that Bella scene (the "Run, Run, Runnin" one) as I'm pretty sure it was on an advertisement for Youtube like a month later haha. But like the good Doctor said, we gotta respect their decision.

NeverEnoughHats

I wonder how much it would cost to pay a band to make a few punk rock covers that could get around that messy situation? Oh well. Im sure whatever you pick will be fine.

Calszone

That honestly really sucks about The Friday Prophets. Being a dik introduced me to them and I've been listening them on and off for the past half year or so I don't understand why they made that decision Being a dik has done nothing other than advertise their music and also generate a lot of new fans of their music. A real shame but it is what it is I guess.

Calszone

I don't think it's about the money, They just don't want to be involved with this kind of project unfortunately

nicholas ferraro

Is there a walkthrough to get Quinn as a gf by chance ? I got it before on my old laptop

gkek

Yeah, no disrespect to the band, but it's very funny to me that they would consider something "inappropriate for punk rock"... Isn't that whole genre about not giving a fuck about societal expectations and individualism???

Chiss

As a musician myself I understand what they asked for, respect their choice to do so, and I congratulate DPC for setting an example and ask his followers to not go after them. Similar to other posters, I possibly never would have ever listened to the Friday Prophets if it wasn't for BaDIK, but I will wish them a well deserved success. While the music in BaDIK is iconic in many ways and in my mind will take me a while to get used to the new music, the core quality of the game that depends on DPC skill still remains.

Mr. Charlie

Don’t worry, herr Doctor. The game has outgrown their music. And we will support you no marear what. Thank you for being transparent and I hope all goes well

Teufelhunde DJI

That's a shame, Doc, it was only because of their music on your soundtrack that I learned who they are to begin with and have their songs on my phone. I won't remove the songs and keep them on my mix but I doubt I'll load any new ones.

Gabriel

Blows hard, but I think the game made the music more impactful, the scenes that were chosen to go with the music were great. But if it can not be then so be it. Your music choice is amazing when it comes to the game, one of the best soundtracks I’ve heard.

GalaxyXYZ

Can't we pay for it ? How expensive would be ?

Solrane

That is terrible news, I've really grown to enjoy their music. Doing a new playthrough in the future just won't feel the same without it. Bummer. Thanks for the update.

nykiwi

Very sad. Ironically I discovered them through this game and now listen to them on Spotify so they get royalties there…

Solrane

Yeah it's a bit silly.

Thomas Kain

A heavy hit, but I am sure you will find a right choice. The Offspring - "Want you Bad" could be a good substitute. They once had a cooperation with WarGaming, so maybe they are more open to this genre.

Theralyst

Definitely some bad news. The songs felt so perfect with the game and The Friday Prophets gained tons of new fans including myself. Its really sad to hear but I have faith you will find a suitable replacement. :)

AfterLife

They replied just in time right before any serious work has happened /s. Sad to read it, but understandable. These status reports of yours are one of the few things Im really waiting for in the last couple of months. Keep up the good work, Doc. We are with you!

AfterLife

Probably the sexual nature of the game.

AfterLife

Exactly. DPC gonna stay great and awesome with or without them. So as BaDIK.

AfterLife

Sexual content probably an exception... 🙄

Viking Son

Not sure it is the best business decision on their part. Bought three of their albums because of their inclusion in your game. (Betting I am not the only one). Would not have heard their stuff without BaDIK. Tough blow, but I am sure you will make it work.

LDOJoe

silly question, but will these patch changes affect our save files that transferred into Interlude to continue in the next season?

DrPinkCake

No. No saves should be affected, S1/S2 or S3.

Mangetsu

Many people have already stated this, but DPC, you made Punk Rock Flu iconic to me. And I even went and bought the album that had that song on it. If they don't want their music to be spread to a larger audience because "reasons," sure whatever, it'll definitely be their loss going forward. Perhaps they'll see the error of their ways, but prolly not. Either way, you chose those songs to match the game, not the other way around. I sincerely trust your judgement! Still super excited for ch9!

Dave Davidson

Not trying to be negative but that's so stupid, I'd wager nobody even heard of them before this game.

Mangetsu

I believe DIK tier has access to all available walkthroughs. However it's for the entire game chronologically, so you'll have to keep the big picture in mind to maintain the relationships you want. Without getting into spoiler territory, that's the best description I can provide 😅

mAd hOuse Games

I've been working on a project myself and can attest to the frustration of dealing with the music community. If you make a game of pure violence, you can use any music you want. If you have sex in the game, about 95% of available music is no longer allowed.

Pedro Barbosa

No worrys, the game is grather than those songs. Stiller cant wait for ch9!!!!!!

snip_cz

No, that song you mentioned is: Melodic In Fusion - EmptyV

ChickenBall

It's hard to say if it's the band themselves who are making the request or if it's something on Bandcamp's end or their label's end that are legally forcing their hand. Either way, the music industry, whether major or indie, have some strict rules to follow when it comes to stock media. Former filmmaker here - I left the industry because of these woes.

Chris Jacks

Have to say, never heard of these guys until the first time I played BaDIK. No telling if it was the band themself or the label, but still a very sad day.

Littleletterman

I came here to say something similar. The music industry includes far more than just the band. So, yeah, maybe it was them who wanted their music out, or maybe it was "suggested" to them by a potential management, label, booker, etc. It sucks for us who really enjoy their songs in the game, but I applaud DPC telling people not to go after the band because we may not know the full story. Plus, who knows if one day minds will change but that for sure won't happen if people go off on them for their decision.

John Vue

No amount of words can describe how I am feeling right now.

Michael LuPayne

well this Majorly sucks, the music is what makes the game so good...........there really seems to be a campaign by some to hurt this genre of games by any meens they can

J S

Well, too bad the songs had to be taken away, but, still, the most important part of the game is still the gameplay and not so much the song. So, I wouldn't worry that much.

Clanker0059

Can we not just tell The Friday Prophets that Punk Rock Flu will conjure the image of Maya anyway? Think it'll change their minds?

Thor von Fiddle

When you said bad news, I had the thought that you accidently hit the delete all files button for episode 9 and this time it wasn't backed up in a cloud save. Too bad about the music stuff though. You would think The Friday Prophets would be happy getting play time and acknowledgement for their songs but I guess not. I'm sure DPC will find excellent substitutes for them though.

Galaaz

It is indeed sad about the Friday prophet... If I had a punk rock band i'd pay you to use my songs and gain visibility but oh well... I guess they don't see how many people actually know of them thanks to you DPC. I actually never heard of them until looking for the being a DIK soundtrack. oh well... their loss. I hope overall it wont cause too much extra work for you. Cheers.

Jiji-kun

Hear me out.... What if another artist/band did a cover of Punk Rock Flu for you to use in the game? I mean, surely they can't do much about a cover from a free song can they?

Ya boii Krunch

Sad to hear the news, I started to hear the Friday Prophets because of this game! While the music selection is great, your hard work into the writing and design of the game is what really makes it great. Keep working hard but not too hard Doc!

Grob Az

@afterlife69 have you ever heard of The Sex Pistols??? But seriously, most of these "Pop Punk" bands aren't real punk at all. They're just poser frat-boys who like upbeat music but have no idea what punk is really about.

GLP2007

We’ll, at least I was able to download their music from my Apple Music subscription…now I can “catch” The Punk Rock Flu whenever I want…

Blacklabyrinth

That sucks DPC but seems to be a wider issue for AVNs right now. While the music is iconic, the story is the real star.

Aerdan

Unfortunate but completely respect that you are going about things in a professional manner. Keep up all the great work!

William

did they not offer to buy a license or is it just the content was not something they didn't want and no amount of money would be OK? If it's the latter, that's not very punk rock of them lol.

sp49

Sad to hear this news, but we love u DPC. So many thanks for your effort!

Jimsave

Question: How much would it cost to license their music? I would be willing to donate to that fund to get the music in the game.

Kurosong

I like many others have discovered their music through your game and now listen to their tracks very often Wish they knew how much exposure they got through this game and will be very sad to not hear their great tracks in the game.

Brandon Mare

I feel like we as a community would donate to try and get Punk Rock Flu purchased for commercial usage.. starting the game up and hearing anything else just isn’t going to feel right.

Exorikk

Not at all surprised by this development, honestly. They've had comments turned off on all their official YouTube videos for the songs for a while now.

Jacob Welander

In my opinion they owe DrPinkCake, i would never have listened to their songs with without his incredible game. A real shame they gone. Its hitting alot of devs that make these incredible games.

Sadie Adler

*cries in Punk Rock Flu* 😢

Flover

First they made their music free for commercial use WITHOUT RESTRICTIONS, so that anybody and their dog can use it as they see fit. Then it took them FOUR F*CKING YEARS to finally message DPC to deny him the use of this tracks? SERIOUSLY? It was basically FREE advertisment! They probably made money hand over fist from all the people that bought their albums. DrPinkCake is a SAINT for showing the respect he does. I am no saint. So this is what I gonna do: As long as nobody tells me that version 8.3 will change any of the stats or relationship points in the game, I will keep version 8.2. F*CK respect and F*CK their copyright! After four years of not giving a sh*t, those tracks are fair game! So from now on everytime I make another playthrough, I will enjoy Season 1 and 2 as they were meant to be played. Listening to the incredible tracks of the Friday Prophets. And whoever it was who FINALLY decided to respond after all this time and try to ruin it for us: KISS! MY! *SS!

Ish My Ale

While it's probably not the worst thing that could happen to this game, it's definitely high up there. I'm not gonna lie, the music is one of the things that hooked me on Being a DIK, and it's sad that this music that has become so synonymous with the game is going to have to go. It's going to be weird going into the game and not hearing Punk Rock Flu, but I'm far more invested in the game than I've ever been, so I'll just keep on keeping on.

Wesley

Hmmm I guess mentioning the name of another AVN author breaks the rules since my comment got removed. So without mentioning any names, another AVN author had all of their music removed from their game a couple of months back due to the music service they were using changing policies about AVN’s, so he has had to spend time and money contacting each artist to buy the rights to use their songs in his game. Its unfortunate but some music services and artists have a negative view of this genre. Hopefully the issue doesn’t extend beyond The Friday Prophets.

Hao P

Dang, I guess I'm saving my previous versions of the game then.

Paarthurax

Woah... Really bad news I really attached the game wiht the soundtrack as one, it will be weird after the new release... Hope they change their minds or something, but whatever... We're with u DPC!

Scott

Reminds me of that Scrubs episode where they sing "Talk Dirty to Me". TBH, it'd be pretty fucking punk rock to create or commission a song with similar energy and maybe a few sly references to the game, then see if DPC likes it enough to add it. Would be amusing if it gained mainstream popularity. "Everyone's talking about this song. What inspired you to make it?" "Funny story..."

Worthy Fate

That is such a bummer, hope you can find a solution for this. If not, then I'm sure whatever replaces it will be great.

Jakevsnake

Im so sick of my favorite games having licensing issues with the music. There has to be a better way for developers to obtain licensing agreements that dont allow musicians to back out after the fact. Im not blaming you DPC, its a real problem in VN world.

Tj

Won't lie, I like the new song better, just needs to be a little louder. To each their own though

This or That

If anyone else can find or knows of any free for commercial without restrictions music to replace The Friday Prophets, then post it! If it gets enough attention the maybe DrPinkCake might consider integrating it as a replacement.

This or That

Crazier things have been done. Ever heard of the Italian song that is straight up gibberish but reached #1? Prisencolinensinainciusol by Adriano Celentano. If there is a fan out there who loves Being A Dik enough... it can be done.

AfterLife

Meant to be sarcasm, forgot to add. With the rest you are right.

DrPinkCake

One better way is the one I do these days, since I reached the music goal thanks to every patron. 9 out of 10 times I buy my songs with a royalty free license. The issue when I started making Being a DIK was that I couldn't afford that and I opted for the CC0 type licenses, which can be a bit more risky since it can be hard knowing if CC0 is the correct usage or not.

Taryn Jane Noone

What if there was a new feature that allowed players to upload their own music into the game? I mean, you couldn't necessarily prevent every single player from downloading TFP's music and adding it on their own. No?

Pentaur

While it pains me to have TFP’s music removed I applaud and agree with the decision. Ultimately it is their IP and needs to be respected as such. I also view it as a lost opportunity for them to get their brand out. Thanks to BaD I looked them up and bought the album. I wonder how many others did as I did and how many more may have as well. While ultimately getting a commercial free to use license is the goal. Have the ideas of a small royalty on future Steam/GoG sales been explored? While TFP’s may say no this post also had me wondering if Main Street bands such as Flogging Molly or The Dropkick Murphys may agree. I could see several of either bands songs easily replacing TFP’s

My Name is Nobody

You would think getting your music out there to help promote yourself to make money considering they are next to no mainstream ever heard of garage bands from decades ago but I guess they lived up to the games name being a DIK :(

Aanon

Why do you think TFP wait this long to ask DPC to remove their songs from the game? It’s funny how everyone here assumes this move by TFP’s is a clueless/short-sighted one. But forgot that it has been years since DPC introduced their songs to thousands of people… They got their exposure. They got their copies sold. And now, they think their music can do better than an *adult* game. Plain and simple.

Valcali

No big deal it was just a minor change in the game. Bad news is when there's a setback in the next update. It's all good Dr. PinkCake.

EMT-Fields

Just downloaded the patch. I have to say, I actually like the new title music way more.

Edward

Yeah, which means they aren't punk rock. They are posers as stated in SLC Punk! No one would have ever heard their music if not for DPC. I'm sure more than a few found their music online and bought it. Using the music in game generated exposure they would never have gotten otherwise. That is the quickest way to get people to not support your music and pirate said music out of sheer spite. Almost like Noah Katz and his torpedoing of his company "Artesian Builds."

Edward

Wow... I guess mentioning a couple of other VN creators having had the same issue bite them in the rear recently as well was against the rules? I don't see why, as it is brining attention to the fact that the terms of using music in these types of games can be changed at any time in order to squeeze more money out of an indie developer. The rights holders seem fine with the use of their music when said games are small and still building into the great stories some of them end up achieving. Once the rights holders see this, suddenly, they change terms and demand more money to keep using their music. Rather than the one time flat fee for each song or package of music at the beginning, terms are suddenly changed to needing to renew. So the developer gets bent over as if they have the money to be able to pay for ALL the music at once rather than adding new music as the game is developed. "Oh, look! Indie Developer's game has gotten really popular, which means they are making more money now, and I/we have to have some of that so I am going to change the terms and make them buy all the music all over again each year. I think one was faced with either paying 6 figures, or having a silent game. Some people seem to think it costs nothing to develop a game. Pretty sure money taken in on Steam, Patreon and the like is all pure profit when most of the money brought in goes into development and the tools needed for said development. Web hosting, servers and testing all cost money, especially paying beta testers. Also the production of exclusive merchandise for backers of a certain level costs money especially for very limited runs, many times even losing money to fulfill the promises. It's just a real scummy thing to do, screwing over developers who actually bring positive exposure to music that would otherwise be totally unknown.

C. Pawlak

I have always been curious on the machines that are doing your renders. I am a DIY computer builder as a hobby. I am just curious if you are using workstation or HEDT level computer. Could you give the specs of the hardware?

Martyn Romaine

Such a shame that all that music had to go. every time i booted up the game and the music started i would think Hell Yeah Lets Go. But yeah you have to respect other peoples content and work and if they say no you can't use it then you have no choice in the matter. Disapointed but it won't stop me from loving Being a DiK

EulogizeMBG

I mean, they are good songs but not _that_ good. The line "I reached out to them four years ago about using their songs, and I got my reply this week (...)" speaks volumes.

Brett

This. They were some good songs, but not something to cry a river over. There are plenty of other good songs out there - better ones even. Music just forms a powerful association for people, so a lot of early players are going to associate those specific tracks with the game for a long time to come.

Mellee

yeah that sucks i never heard of them until this game definitely helped fan base but this will definitely take some away no more reminders

roseopium

I don't know, guys, but I don't think this new theme song is good enough. In my opinion there other songs in the soundtrack that would fit better for this purpose. Take for example "Summertime - My Heart", "Nicolai Heidlas - Rockin' Riff", "Melodic in Fusion - Empty V" etc.

snip_cz

I've read this opinion elsewhere and I also agree that Summertime - My Heart is probably the best fit to replace the TFP intro theme. It's the same type of music, gives the same vibe and it's already known by the players. edit: the only concern I guess would be what licensing is used for this song and if there's any similar fear for the future that it might end the same way

Staffy88

Damn, Amsterdam and Social Wreck were among my few favorites

Jdog

I was kinda hoping for "At a Medium Pace" by Adam Sandler.

Brian West

Yeah, this is definitely a bit of a dick move on their part, but I think DPC is handling it with a lot of class. I’d never heard of these guys before this game, and I’m sure some other band I haven’t heard of will be thrilled to get a BUNCH of new followers.

Doggs133

Take a scroll through past posts - I recall this exact question coming up & DPC answered. Might have been sometime last year (from my shady memory)

Darren Robinson

My compliments on handling this issue well; too bad at least P.R.F. couldn’t be agreed on, truly a bummer 😢 However B.A.🔺Is so much bigger than one song, your work is phenomenal and I look forward to all the journeys your taking us on.

Peerless Girl

I can't express how sad this makes me. All of their music was so iconic within the game. I went and checked out their other music and songs purely BECAUSE I heard their songs here in Being a DIK. I wish there was a way to express to them how much we enjoy their music in the game, how much of a difference it makes, and maybe some way to license or compensate them. I guess this won't happen though. Something imperceptible is lost with this. After patching my game, it just doesn't feel the same starting up anymore. I know you did the best you could, and it's certainly not on you, but I am sad nonetheless.

Thomas J

Wow, do they not realise the global reach this AVN has done for their music? They were literally unknown to me until I heard the songs in this AVN. Do they think they are some big main stream success and want big bucks for their music? Such a shame as I enjoyed the songs that were in the game for sure! Multiple great tracks that fit perfect in this AVN but hey it's their loss too as they will lose exposure to new players of B.A.D. I am sure you will find alternative replacements but I guess it still will be difficult updating the game with replacement songs that are right for each scene. Anyway keep up the good work DPC, I hope you realise how much people truly appreciate and love your work! I am a huge fan and can't wait for Ep9! All the best TJ (UK)

doit toit

I respect your decision to respect their copy right and avoid a legal battle, but after 4 years you have a strong case for implicit consent. After contacting them so long ago, implementing the songs into your game, and them receiving benefit from the usage, for them to now say they never intended for you to use it in such a way is unjustifiable. There is a difference between being respectful and allowing yourself to be bullied. It is like if you asked someone if they are going to eat their sandwich and if not can you have it. They fail to answer and walk away from the table. You take the sandwich they left behind and then a week later they insist you pay for the sandwich because they didn't intend for you to eat it. They now see value in a song that in large part you gave value to and now want to remove you from being able to use it.

Gaby A

I’m an audio engineer/music composer and punk rock is my specialty so if you want me to whip up a lil summ I gotchu 🤌🏽

Byron

Could you just let us know which songs to play for various scenes? Then we could stream them ourselves. Maybe make us some playlists? That way, the artist gets their 2 cents per song (or whatever streaming services pay these days) and we get our music. :) I assume Ren'Py isn't capable of telling spotify to stream songs, which is a shame.

Theralyst

Just throwing this out there, but of the songs currently in the game I think Summertime-My Heart would be the best replacement for the main theme. Punk Rock Flu captured the feel of the game so well, but I think this one would be acceptable.

ezPI

I always get this nostalgic feeling when I start the game after not playing it for a while. This was the first AVN I ever played, and for me it's still the gold standard by which I rate all the others. The intro song was iconic, simply the perfect song to set the proper mood for the game. I'm sad to see it go.. 😔

ezPI

I agree with you. It's got some of the same vibes..

ezPI

You're totally right! I don't give a buttery fuck about the Friday Prophets. Hearing the intro song brings back memories of the very first time I played the game. That's all it is for me, a nostalgic feeling that's gone the moment I leave the main menu. I'm sure DPC has found some great replacement songs.

ezPI

They're just a bunch of pussies..

Ville Topi

finally checked all their songs that were in the game... damn, liked them all; oh well, their loss

OB

I'm a lawyer and, depending on a couple of small details, I am fairly confident that you have a legal right to continue using their music, regardless of their attempted withdrawal of consent. I understand you want to be friendly, but I would personally argue it is nasty of The Friday Prophets to benefit financially out of this situation and then cut you out of it. It's so sad that you had to remove those songs, i think the 'Amsterdam' was the perfect song for the cutscene with Derek when you walk in the school in your jackets for the first time, but i guess it is what it is. The game is great regardless keep up the good work man!
