Matt-er of Time | Vol. 1 — What's to Come! (Patreon)
Content
I’m usually working on multiple projects at once. They take time, and I often find myself wanting to share what’s currently on my desk. Sometimes projects get paused only to be picked back up months later; other times, the discoveries I make during the process get repurposed for an entirely new idea.
Thankfully, in this post, I’m sharing three projects that will definitely see the light of day. They are either finished and waiting for the right moment, being polished with final fixes, or currently in development with some truly promising results.
Quick Save Button | Build Buy
Following the release of Quick Save Button, a lot of people asked for a version for Build Buy mode. Initially, I struggled to find a spot for it that wouldn’t conflict with other mods (especially Better Build Buy by TwistedMexi, since so many people play with that one). I’m happy to say I finally found a great spot for it that no other popular mod touches!
I’ve added the saving feature along with a few new additions, and I’ve readjusted the design of the floppy disk icon to better match the surrounding UI. After a bit of trial and error (and the headaches that recompiling code brings), I’ve managed to fix everything, and the mod seems to be working perfectly now! It will be launching in Early Access soon for you to try before the public release.
Phone UI | Rearrange & Hide Apps
I started tweaking the Phone UI a few weeks ago. I initially released "More Apps Per Row" because I wasn’t sure if I would ever add more features to it, and I didn't want that small tweak to go to waste. However, more ideas followed soon after, and I’ve since developed two more features:
Drag and Drop: You can now move apps around to change their order.
Hide Apps: You can hide selected apps to keep your phone screen much cleaner.
These changes save per Sim, so every Sim can have their own unique layout. A recent game update broke my work-in-progress version, so I’m currently rebuilding it, but I’m planning to have it ready for Early Access within the next month.
Early Look: "Challenge Tracker"
A recent conversation with a friend inspired me to try something completely new. We were discussing playing challenges in The Sims 4, and I said, "How cool would it be if the UI actually showed you your current goals?" And I immediately thought... well, maybe that’s something I should tackle!
From one experiment to another, I started building something I’m currently calling the "Challenge Tracker." It’s a UI mod that displays a new panel within the Aspiration section. The idea is that all the information—the titles, text, icons, and goals—is defined by the player. This allows you to easily see what goals your custom challenge has and check them off as you go.
It’s important to stress that this does not automatically track tasks within the game; the tracking is done fully manually by clicking on the goals to tick them off. Regardless, I think it will be a very useful tool for bringing community-designed challenges directly into the game, allowing you to track your progress without relying on external documents or tools. This project is still very early in development, so stay tuned for more information!
