YES...

It sounds like they're heading towards really maturing in their sound and delivery and even the choreo being a lot more laid back which lines up with Hongjoong said in that interview.

This feels like a step in the right direction and it sounds like the next album will be a progression of this which I am very much in to.

The vocal work on Lemon drop was simply fantastic. A part me still yearns for a little more energy but this is WAY better and the lack of autotune and low larynx singing also made everything feel MUCH fresher and cleaner.

Loved!!

If you had to rank their Golden Hour series so far, how would you rank it? (in order of best to worst/least fav in ur opinion)

AlexD

This feels like such a grown version of Ateez. Choreo, visuals and sound all visit the sound they should be making at this point

It’s so fun watching reactions to Lemon Drop bc the first thing ppl say is “omg this sounds so familiar” lol 😭😭 But yeah I think they used a sample or smth bc it seems like this sound was pretty popular in maybe like 2014 - 2018. Ppl also said the beat reminded them of FAM by Stray Kids, Ty Dolla $ign, Don’t Tell Em by Jeremih, etc.

Omg I’ve been looking forward to this reaction so much!!

I had the biggest smile on my face watching this! I knew you’d love it 😂 I remember falling in love with Wave and this reminds me of a more grown and sexier version with even better production. The visuals in the MV were something else. Yunho 🤤

Koko3op

Very DJ mustard vibes basically

Koko3op

Yesss you weren't wrong!!

I don't know if you watched the episode of Ateez with Epik High and their "Blind Date" but Epik High gave them some really great advice about how to not fear what anyone says about changing up their sound. It's a fun little episode. But I really enjoyed this album from them. Its definitely a much more mature sound from the boys. I'm enjoying this road they're on for sure.

Honestly it felt like Lemon Drop and Masterpiece could have been double title tracks. For Masterpiece, they just needed a bridge and change up either the chorus or the start of the song so the impact of the chorus isnt taken away. Lemon drop was definitely my favourite title track of the golden hour era. I cant wait to see it in concert! But I am seated for the next album. The teaser at the end and the outro to this album sound so good. I would still love for them to work with an outside producer leading the track. I know how you feel about Dem Jointz but I honestly think he would fit so well with Ateez. Looking forward to what their last year before enlistment has in store for us 😭

Ayy so glad you enjoyed this album. They're finally in their redemption arc for u lool. It's so refreshing that they're out here experimenting with so many different sounds and switching it up so much each comeback. Obviously some are hit or miss for people, but it's nice to see them so willing to try different things. Also, it's funny that you referenced a Gallant song cuz he recently released a song with Wooyoung actually.

I really enjoyed this reaction and your points! This is also my favorite out of the trilogy. It makes me super excited for the future. I just want to move onto the next thing because I'm enjoying seeing their journey and how they experiment. I hope we see lots of changes with their contract renewal. I want to see more from the group; I specifically want to see more of Ateez's touch as individuals. I REALLY want them to try new producers. Their in house producers are very talented, yes, and it's not even that I want them to completely disregard who they're used to working with, but some new ears, new thoughts/opinions, new talent would do them some good for real. I hope Ateez are heading into that era when the members start shedding some of the dolled up aspects of being an idol and get more, idk, loose? They're still young, but not as young as they used to be, so I think loosening up a bit will be nice artistically. Maybe we can get more from certain members as well, such as Yeosang.

Koko3op

That's the interview I reference in the description

Koko3op

Haha I tease demjointz most of the time but i know he would eat with them! Oooh god I didn't even think they were close to enlisting yet. Proves why things feel different now

Koko3op

Yess this was a step in the right direction for sure

Gianma09

I think the last audio we listened at the end of the MV is gonna be for the next comeback and I believe it's gonna be their collaboration with DEM JOINTZ. He posted him, Hongjoong and the Edenary Team back when Ateez went at Coachella cooking something bts.

Vee

Hii, could you react to their dingo tipsy live too ?

Haru

I hope you do ateez variety shows

taceana

It’s so disappointing how much a lot of Atiny’s don’t like this album on social media. I saw someone call it a “filler album”. That just sounds so goofy 🤣 I really enjoyed how laid back it was, it reminded me of earlier ateez b-sides like light, aurora, mist, etc. They don’t have to always come out with hype-songs.

Koko3op

Tbh it's tooo short to really judge but thank god it's doing well in korea they deserve it!
