Artistic identity is the biggest selling point here

This is an album ONLY Nmixx could've done and that gives it massive points. I'm also really glad it's performed really well and korea is now on board with them.

It's a shame there werent many vocal moments that really grabbed me considering how fantastic they are vocally. They could EAT up a song that is completely acapella like Brandy - Acapella (something is missing), they would do soooo well. Doesn't have to be R&B either but just a vocal showcase.

Either way kudos to them paving their own lane and sticking by it!

Enjoy!

Only NMIXX could've pulled this album off, I love the concept and the production is LUSH, I just wish they had more vocals like in Spinnin on It (best song of the album?), I mean if you have the best vocalists of this generation you should use them???

Hailey

They released Blue Valentine in full acappella on spotify!! Just the title track but when I tell YOUUUU hearing just the vocals made me ascend

I am led to believe the audio on Apple Music is a huge problem here lol can anyone confirm? ADORE U is mixed perfectly to me? The Apple audio sounds really buried to me

Jesse

And sad you skipped the final 2 b sides…but can’t be helped. Hope you can give them another listen!

Sorry if you've addressed this idea already, but your comments on their simple melodies I agree with and I hadn't thought about the album being a production focused album which is a good point. I felt the same thing. But they probably pick and choose which songs they go all out bc performing at a concert would be difficult if every song was vocally demanding. Lily has a lot of lines in both spinnin on it and blue valentine so I thought it was cool how they gave some high notes to jiwoo and bae else where in the album. But outside of that I did think the autotuney voices and some of the songs were over produced. I also appreciate how honest you are. Not many reactors would just flat out say I appreciate the song but I wouldn't listen to it lol. I respect that. I'm typing this on a tiny screen rn so sorry if something didn't make sense. I look forward to checking your other stuff out!

aespa concert please 🙏

the production on this album is kinda crazy??? like i heard the beats with some of them and was shocked like what the actual hell is going on half the time?? /pos i do certainly agree that the melodies do feel predictable and are not super exciting, but I think some might grow on me since I like the soundscape they chose. i can't wait to see what's next though, like they've truly made the concept their own and it's nice to see. praying we get stellar vocal melodies and ad-libs soon!

Koko3op

I think i'd enjoy these songs more if they streamed a concert for sure!

Koko3op

It could my ears lool with some genres it's like that when it's harsher

Koko3op

Haha makes perfect sense and thanks for joining and commenting! Glad you related

NMIXX is my favorite group but actually you're so right about them needing to bring the vocals forward in the production and do more with the melodies, I've felt that literally since their debut. Actually the debut and first comeback had the worst problem with that stuff and it has gotten better IMO. But it can still improve.

yeah, I definitely think you hit on why they tend to have a lack of the really crazy vocal acrobatics, riffs and runs etc. NMIXX songs are made to be performed live, and they sing every part of them, including ad-libs, always. Often also with choreo, and often with little or even no backing track. While those types of vocals can make a track more enjoyable for sure, many of the groups that do them simply never perform those parts live, and that's just not NMIXX's thing.

You have to react to badvillain thriller!! They have a dance practice and performance video too but the choreo EATS DOWN and the aura is on 10000

I enjoyed the album for what it was but I have to agree with you on all your points, I really wish their vocals were brought more forward in the songs

Apple music has this weird way of taking away vocals and pushing the production in more and its SOOOOO annoying. Adore u is a victim of this unfortunately, sounds way better on spotify and youtube.

Koko3op

Aaahh i thought i also played it on youtube to check

I agree with a lot of your thoughts. Predictably, I also love their vocals, I just think their music isn't for me, which is totally fine, I'm glad they got the attention and success they deserve with this release. I don't know if you've seen their tiny desk performance but I'd love for them to release a project in a similar style to that.
