A lot happened this week, so let’s get into it. I talk about KATSEYE’s Grammy performance, my thoughts on why people are slating it, are they hard on these girls for no reason? As well Kiiikiii’s disappointing sales.

The main event though is I-DLE. I walk through their discography and really unpack where things started to feel overly kitsch, hook-dependent, and gimmicky after Queencard. We talk about how losing Soojin changed their trajectory, how it helped them blow up commercially, but also left their artistry feeling a little lost for a while.

Mono got it's first music show win today! We also got an ultra rare (if not unheard of) babymonster doing their challenge with them as well (Ahyeon/Pharita and Minnie/Yuqi) I liked hearing your thoughts on i-dle and i knew going in generally how you felt about them as i have watched all of your content pertaining to them because they have been my bias since getting into KPOP (Twice, NMIXX keep staying right behind them lol). That said, I agree Good Thing was weaker compared to what they had been releasing, and especially because i really liked their most recent full album (2) so it was disappointing. I did like Shuhua's song as far as the b-sides went the most because it felt the most unique for them on that mini. I kind of wonder if there was some burnout due to them having so much going on individually and the pressure to come out with something attention grabbing post contract renewal led to Soyeon kind of overthinking it. Either way, super happy with Mono, and that the promotions this time around seem more varied and kind of like what we used to see from them years back. We even got a character Mono dance practice which was hilarious. Side Note: Klaxon to me was a summer song in the same way dumdi dumdi was so i never took it seriously and just enjoyed it for the fun song it was. I did like the b-sides from that album though as Last Forever, and Neverland are great songs to intermix between some of their other stuff on a playlist.
