In this episode of Anatomy of a Song, I put HYBE boy group vocals to the test. Using tracks from TXT, ENHYPEN, TWS, &TEAM and BOYNEXTDOOR I strip the songs back and listen closely to how the voices actually sit once the production isn’t doing all the work.

HYBE groups often share a certain polish and vocal style, but how different do they really sound when you isolate the performances? I play snippets from several songs to compare tone, layering, vocal control and emotional delivery across the label’s biggest boy groups.

i’m obsessed with these anatomy vocal battles😭 also the voice you were like “who’s voice is THAT” during &team was fuma!! EJ’s tone is very bright when singing & only really gets lower like that when he’s rapping LOLL oh & at 22:30 during boynextdoor, it was riwoo singing! @25:32 it’s sungho singing! LMFAOOO wait you just said it NVM

Thanks for this. I hope you do more of these because it is so interesting hearing all the background vocals and harmonies

Did you read the news about Heeseung leaving Enhypen?! I'm shook! What will they do without him? I mean the others are great artists and (some of them) good singers, but he is maybe their best (?) vocalist. I'm so intrigued - what happened behind the scenes? Whata were their differeneces? Were they of a professional, artistic or personal nature?? Nevertheless, I hope he has an exciting and fulfilling journey ahead of him.

God I love txt’s old rnb stuff. I’d love to hear that compared with their newer rnb to see if they still have as many harmonies. BND is disappointing since I feel like in their recording behind we usually see them recording multiple layers at least but you couldn’t really hear that here. I’m not surprised about no harmonies though since they barely even wanna give a melody half the time😂 at least they seemed to have the least processing on their voices? I did expect more harmonies and layers from enha and &team just bc their songs feel so full usually? But I guess the production is doing more heavy lifting than I realize!

Since i woke up nearly 20 hours ago. It'll be an episode tomorrow

Yess its interesting seeing how much production does and yes I thought BND would do way more!!
