Bruh.

This was SOOO disappointing.

Their music is ALWAYS interesting, especially vocally but I don't know, they're singing like their in their 40's in this album and it did not stimulate me at ALL.

Oh well!

Next time.

After hearing your thoughts I definitely understand why you’re disappointed 🙌🏻 me personally I did enjoyed the album HOWEVER it’s definitely not my fav.. till this day beautiful mind is still on top especially with Diamond🙂‍↕️ but if I had to choose a fav from this album it would probably be Rose High Rise Thanks for the reaction and sharing thoughts 🩷🙌🏻

Do bands face more pressure to be easy listening rather than experimental/growing? I know my faves are at festivals almost every day this month and they chart in karaoke places, so i wonder if Xdinary Heroes is feeling the pressure to conform for that market.

Koko3op

Yesss they delivered on that albumm

X room sounds like a kdrama OST and maybe that's what they were going for, especially with that cinematography and storyline. It's actually my favorite, alongside Voyager.😅 I don't know if you'll be interested, but they have a recording behind for X room. It really shows how much Gaon and Ode's vocals have improved. I think you also mistook one of the parts for Jooyeon, but it was actually Ode.

personally, i enjoyed this album because i like songs that are easily digestible but i get where you're going frommmm. i do need more vocally interesting songs from xh. If you're interested, XH was in hello 82 and sang a few songs, their vocals were really nice there. Ode and Jungsu stood out to me in that video. Thanks for being honest as always!!

I AGREE with what you said about them going more digestable for sure, i mean it is the safer option for bands but my gosh i hyearn for the quirkiness that they had earlier even in vocal moments it doesnt help that this is their best selling album so im scared we're stuck here but lets hope not.... like everybody was gagging at x room n it did nothing for me lmaaooo love my guys bad but yh this is not my fav album by them at all

Koko3op

Yeahh i had that on the list for sure

Hiya!! Hope you are doing well! Thank you for the reaction anyway even though you were disappointed. I definitely understand some of your criticisms here, especially regarding X Room. It felt very Day6, in the most boring way possible lol. I think, despite enjoying quite a few songs on this album, my biggest critique would be that Voyager felt sooo safe as a title track. I thought after last year with Beautiful Life and ICU they would continue the trend of more quirky, unique title tracks. This felt like poundland ‘Pluto’ with a sprinkle of ‘Starlight’ by Muse, if you know that song. Regardless, I always rejoin your patreon when I see a new Xdinary reaction uploaded so I can’t really be complain if you don’t enjoy every release ahahaha. My conspiracy theory is that later this year they might come out with a second full album, as it would have been over 2 years since their last one. So maybe they’re saving their stronger songs for that? But what do I know! Thank you again for always providing honest reviews! :)

Koko3op

Oooh damn!! such a shame its sold so well lol

Koko3op

Oooooo this makes sense!! I hope so that would be fabbb

Xdinary heroes were one of my ults at one point but I've found the title tracks to be pretty lacking as of late. It just feels like what I've heard already. And while they are insanely talented, I need them to lean into that rock/experimental sound more! Troubleshooting was such an amazing album, and even their bsides of the last few albums have been great. I just want more of that.

I was very excited to see your take on the album, and my heart broke a little today... But it's fine! There are plenty of other channels I watch to validate my opinions, and that's definitely not why I watch your videos. We very rarely like the same stuff and we listen to songs very differently, which makes it very interesting for me to watch. I always tune in to see what you think, with the hopes of you praising at least on of my favorite songs on the project. Today was not that day, but I'll be there for the next one! In terms of their sound lately, I believe they are very inspired by 80s and 90s metal/rock music. It's very apparent with the frequent screaming and double bass in their latest songs. Even though I am quite young, I grew up on that era of music as well so it does bring me a lot of joy seeing that XH is exposing a young kpop audience to that sound, but I wish they would've kept building on their 'Beautiful Mind' sound. I think that era was close to the perfect mix of their own sound and some old school rock. Also I am missing some song variety in the albums, they had it in 'LIVE AND FALL' and 'Beautiful Mind'. But with 'LOVE to DEATH' and 'DEAD AND' the songs seem to be blending together on a continuous playthrough.

Koko3op

Yeahh the lack of variety really is something. There just wasn't as much to praise here

we very rarely like the same things so I'm not too surprised by this review. I'm more surprised when we have similar opinions on a song lol. but I get where you're coming from, because one of my first thoughts after listening to voyager is that it's their version of day6's melt down. a good song, but I can feel them going for mass appeal. I personally love this album and I think it's really cohesive thematically, but it doesn't feel like growth from, say, beautiful mind. my favourite is rise high rise!

Koko3op

i'm loving your comments!! But yeah they do seem to be aiming for mass appeal cos that song was a fucking SNOOZE. AKMU watch out odhfsiudh. But they still sound amazing

I just subscribed back after a while and tomorrow is a holiday so I'm on a catchup binge lol. on that note (the note is akmu catching strays) I've been so sad about not liking akmu's new album after looking forward to it so much 😢 but oh well
