In this episode of Anatomy of a Song, I put 4th gen boy group vocals under the microscope by stripping the production back and listening closely to what’s actually happening vocally.

Using songs like Action Figure by WayV, “Butterfly” by P1Harmony, “Love Language” by TXT, Adrenaline by CRAVITY, and “The Letter” by ATEEZ, I compare how each group approaches tone, layering, delivery and emotional expression.

4th gen boy groups are often defined by performance and intensity, but once the instrumentals are removed, the differences between their vocal identities become much clearer. Some rely on texture, some on energy, and others on blend and restraint.

I think when it comes to Ateez, the harmonies in basically all of the songs from The World albums (specifically The Ring, Cyberpunk, New World, This World, Dune, Outlaw, and Wake Up) is best for this. The complexity as well as the sheer amount of them is just stunning

Yess there are quite a few songs of theirs that could’ve been used. I would like to add “Bop” into the running as well; it’s full of delicious harmonies/backing vocals. Here’s to hoping they’re included again in future episodes!

i had to think hard for TXT...but i wonder how No Rules, Can't Stop (jp) or Blue Orangeade would sound. its hard to think of a latest song of theirs when everything is so short nowadays you sneeze and its over with -.-

WayV!!!!! Thank you for showing so much love to them. I agree an expected a bit more on the bridge but oh well, they def have better vocal songs lol. Look forward to the next episode!

idk if im late but for Cravity i would DEFINITELY recommend their song Secret is one of my personal favorites and the harmonies are beautiful! If u want a title track i’d recommend Now Or Never that’s also really good!! Thank u for considering them in this! They get always overlooked in 4th gen despite having a fairly strong vocal line especially Woobin their main vocal (he goes OFF in Secret!). I hope my recs won’t disappoint!
