NEW EPISODEEEEE!!

This one ended up being WAY more interesting than I expected lol.

We start with EVAN officially announcing his solo debut, I also touch on aespa's Japanese mini album announcement, IZNA, BOYNEXTDOOR's recent releases and the Hearts2Hearts plagiarism accusations iguyfyuguig before diving into a question I've been thinking about for a WHILE now...

Can a global boy group actually succeed in a post K-pop world?

I talk about Solidified, December 10, Santos Bravos and even Dear Alice and why so many of these groups struggle to connect, to varying degrees, not just with me but also the GP despite having talent, budgets and all the right ingredients on paper.

Like... why do so many of them end up feeling just a LITTLE bit corny?

Enjoyyyyy

I'll try to spare some time to listen to this pod lol. Regarding the global boy group, I have this feeling that cultural values play a role. Collectivism vs individualism definitely influence the experience you have with K-pop boygroups vs global boygroups.

I appreciate your take on western boy groups! I agree with you that santos bravos definitely have the potential to go very far. Watching all their promo/content they did in Korea really solidified that feeling for me. Definitely excited to hear more music from them in the future that showcases more of their voices. I watched their survival show and that’s really what made me a fan. The show really had such a good way of showcasing all the boys’ authenticity and humanity so it was hard not to grow that connection as a fan. As for soulidified, i’ve seen their instagrams and they can definitely dance!! i just need them to release more music because right now they literally only have 2 songs yet they’re about to go on tour. They need a creative director or just a plan on what their identity is going to be and then just go hard in that direction. the talent is there!! they just need the funding

Oooo interesting. I haven't even seen their videos yet!

Koko3op

HAHAHA No way!! It feels like we've kinda taken over lol it's insane

Koko3op

YESS creative direction and branding will do them wonders and thank you for listening!!
