For the most part, this went exactly like I thought it would.

I feel like i may have been hyper critical but that mostly stems from my frustration of him being stuck where he is and seeing how the shortcomings of his approach become much more obvious under the microscope.

Now, the none live songs were much more interesting and i wish he did those in full instead! But at least I got to hear him in a different way.

His tone is still special and unique but man the possibilities!!

Enjoy!

Loved this reaction! I love Jungsu’s voice a lot and it’s so pleasant to listen to. He’s one of my faves in kpop 🥹 I think he’s put himself into a bit of a box by labelling himself as a “clean vocalist” and it seems like that’s preventing him from exploring other parts of his voice. “Clean” doesn’t just mean singing in straight tones and no depth. But he’s clearly capable of doing it, I hope he explores more. I love him 😌

someone asked him about his choice of songs and he said he had other songs he wanted to do but because of copyright issues he could only choose korean songs... i wonder if those other songs would've suited his voice better and i think he really needs to let himself go, iirc in one of their latest concert behind videos he was practicing a certain note bc it was coming out a bit raspier than usual and when the members told him it sounded good he was like "it needs to be clean, and if i add rasp in every single song it'll become a habit" which makes me think the "clean vocalist" label might start to become a burden for him ? like babe get out of that mindset i'm begging you, you don't need to be super clean and perfect 24/7 you can add variations and experiment more

Ohhh wow yeah he's obsessed with cleanness omg makes sense. The copyright issue is interesting cos there have been SO Many diff songs on here?? Even BEYONCE haha

This!! like clean can be rich too!

I feel like wanting to keep a "clean" tone for him is mainly so his and jooyeon's voice are as different from each other as possible, maybe pushed by the company as well, but i think it definitely limits him

shana

yeah that's odd...

Yesss and tbh he could get warmed and clean up his technique without losing that clean tone but he may not know how to do that

Yeah I doubt they have vocal lessons at this point in their career, but he (and anyone/everyone tbh) would definitely benefit from it at any point no matter what stage in his career he's in! Baekhyun is a great example of that, such an established singer who's still learning all he can!
