Chile everyone sounds the same.

These labels forget that you can have idols be homely and regular but they still need SOME personality to shine through somehow, damn.

And i'm not being biased cos i wouldn't say H2H were screaming personalities with the chase either but babyyy ONCE that choreo dropped? Cunty. Also the vocal hooks were plentiful. I'll look forward to their dancing because that may help.

ABD is probably my favourite tbh. I'll keep my eye on them

I don’t usually comment, but I feel like you’ve conceptualised something that’s been nagging me about Hybe/Kpop releases (coming from someone who genuinely is a fan of most of their groups), but gosh everything is just so “inoffensive” recently. I’m singling out Hybe specifically because I AM a fan of most of their groups and have been a fan of BTS literally since 2013. Even back when it was just BigHit and BTS, they didn’t really take risks and it wasn’t commercial so to speak, but it did do something musically. If we go back to like 2020-2022, Enhypen’s debut, NewJeans, even LSF - they were all distinct against their contemporaries without it being too experimental. Now, it’s like Hybe is either too scared to commit, or if we’re being more honest, they’re doing the bare minimum they can to get away with that makes the most money. Disappointing because I feel they give their groups good concepts/aesthetic packaging, but they no longer marry it with the sounds/songs anymore. I’ll never forget listening to the butterfly prologue mix for the first time and experiencing a song truly embody the concept/theme of the album. Bring back effort!!!

Thanks for commenting!! Yeahh everything is getting very safe and this is a western issue too with the Olivia Dean, Sabrina Carpenter Harry Styles safe retro music.

Amanda

Everything from hybe girl groups has been so shit this year that this sounds better than it actually is by comparison imo lol

The music production is good, but the vocals are an overall snooze fest. There's nothing exciting here. It's a pass for me.

The visual concept is amazing, a baby of New Jeans and Cortis. But music is underwhelming, it feels like new trendy coffee shop bgm.

Its interesting to me the discourse here over this debut, because its getting so much great feedback in most spaces. But my two cents is that often people project what they want a bit TOO much onto groups, specifically these new ones. I think there are plenty of groups making great music: for singers, for dancers, for casual listeners etc. Ofc, everything you outline is true for you, and i appreciate honest reactions!

Koko3op

Hmm yeah I think some people are projecting but there's a lot of valid critique that shouldn't be dismissed because there's great feedback elsewhere.

I think the production is to safe and I agree the vocals wasn't really there plus I think the girls debut too early we haven't all they can do from what we hear to far a lot of them have under develop vocals and a lot room to grown I am sure there great performer for the past few years hybe yet to debut a Vocal centre group yes they have new jeans but currently there nowhere to be found which really unfortunate and katseye they really under utilize interns vocals and Harmony the only girl group that Hybe the have straight up vocal is fromis_9 they being the least promoted group out of all the Hybe have which such a waste.....

I personally enjoyed the album but understand the criticism of the album being ‘underwhelming’ I think what helped a lot was watching the performances as well, their choreography is great and they are so in sync without being too serious about it. Sadly, hybe has their choice of having a group sound the sameish. I can only really pick out Jia who seems to be the main vocal and center. Apparently she also only trained for 8 month before debut

This was incredibly underwhelming for me. I did have high hopes bc of the producers. The main producers are GroovyRoom (you saw one of the duo in Lngshots pre-debut content), and they’re currently some of the biggest producers in Korea. They’re also popular with the GP because of how distinct their production is. The most that I can say is that the songs are cute but I wont be listening to them again. Anddd now I just found out that ABD’s CEO actually worked on LNGSHOT’s management during their debut preparations. She also built up her label management background at More Vision, which is probably how she ended up connected to GroovyRoom in the first place. I’m NOT saying this is some big undercover-agent conspiracy BS 😭 but when Hybes new bg comes out sounding like LNGSHOT, let’s not act shocked.

Koko3op

iuhiduhfsiuhiudsh and they really will sound like them. Also this production team does not focus on vocals at all which is annoying

kat

They will and people will deny it just like they did Waferboys. Im just hoping MoreVision gg actually us what need musically wise. We know they can sing and one of the girls just dropped a song with Jam Republic and she can rap her ass off without sounding whiney and annoying (it was lowkey giving latto but its okay LOL). Im so excited for them hehehe. Everyone needs to start gatekeeping their producers ASAPP

Geosamarquez

Not to be negative towards the girls because they probably worked really hard to debut but I was kind of bored with this debut.. I was a big newjeans fans so it’s not like I’m not a fan of slower songs but for some reason these songs weren’t it for me 🤷🏽‍♀️ music is subjective so for now not for me but I recognize they can improve so I will follow them from afar for now. (I do like their dances tho)

Seny

I enjoyed the debut songs tbh, I definitely enjoyed it more than Unchilds and OURBIRTHDAYS but i do see that it lacked personality compared to them. my favorite is flip flop but their next comeback will need more if they want to stand out.

HYBE, ever since they became HYBE, have shown a sort of clear indication to me that they are more focused on trying to promote their global identity with easy to digset, "catchy", and viral sounds that are easier to replicate and use on social media than trying to make anything substantial. From BTS to Illit to Enhypen to now Tuide we've been strung along wanting more from a company that use to be innovative an trend-setting. Instead it feels like they set the bar too high with NJZ an have been trying to chase that high ever since with lackluster deliveries. For any who remember, it feels like when Momoland overtook every other group with "Bboom Bboom" and then immediately made a song that was 95% similar and basically continued to overuse sax synths until that noise was blacklisted from Kpop. HYBE has become Momoland's producers on a wide-scale.
