In some ways, I don't think I needed to watch this cos I feel like I know his voice VERY well but I was still curious I guess!

When he showcased some depth I was gagged but I do think he really played it safe. His objective is to perform vocally and proof his skill rather than showcase something really special. I don't know if that makes sense but he sings like a PERFORMER which is great on stage but I would've loved to see him get lost in a song here and show something new.

Especially because I've heard him do some reaaally interesting things in the recording behind, my bar for him is pretty HIGH!

10000000000000000000% agree, I was more blown away by learning about HIM. And it was nice to hear that there's one feel-good heartwarming song that's actually a song on the new 127 album. I started off so excited for this service but it wound up being too safe for me vocally. I mean Haechan even has some lungs and there was no belting. He does such beautiful harmonies and he had Lee Mujin do the harmonies in their duet. No changeup, no personalization. I was surprised by how unsurprising it was. Of course, it wasn't BAD... because he's never bad. But I think I would've appreciated a few cracks in the middle of shooting for something higher (in terms of standards) than a perfect but safe service. I did notice that there were some songs where he had a lot of tension in his neck, particularly ones that were just singing a sample like singing MJ, so I wonder if he was battling some nerves or tension. A+ for personality, C for vocals for me

Your comment on how Haechan sings like a performer (hence is great to watch on stage but is not necessarily moving my heart on stuff like this) is so spot on!!

He definitely played it safe and i feel like it’s because he’s still recovering for his throat surgery. He had a very short break time after it so i’m actually worried about his voice tbh. It felt like he chose songs that he knew he could sing perfectly without difficulty. But it was still very nice to hear him perform as always because he has such a nice vocal tone and songs sound so pretty to me when he sings them like just his tone is enough for me !! I also feel like with age he became very humble and it feels like he’s not trying as hard to prove himself as a singer to others anymore, like this was a clear opportunity for him to show off but he was just chilling fr 😭😭 it feels like he just went to promote the album

Great points on your description! Kinda the same way i feel about how 127’s team chose to utilize haechan’s vocals in the new 127 album; knowing how versatile his vocals are and how he showcased it on his solo album- it was a bit disappointing (considering 127 is more sonically interesting than dream to me lately) but like others pointed out his throat problem has been an issue for the longest time (his encore performance for crzy win was amazing but his voice was hoarse back then) im glad he got his surgery for it. I will say tho, I do appreciate the covers in the lee mujin episode- the ballad one was the strongest cover i feel, the playboy cover i liked as well. I think this just made me more eager for his second solo album.

8:35 which I think is why I love him in a group setting - his voice is so unique that when you're hearing similar sounds and then get a Haechan line it's like a breath of fresh air. It is kinda crazy though cause I feel like it's possible for him - I remember hearing many different sounds from him in his album, but like all apparently do on this SINGING show, they play it safe.. 🙄 I do love his mindset on the team music - that if he doesn't love it, then how are we supposed to. It's a great way to look at it honestly! I also totally agree he sings like a performer - that's spot on!!
