A RARE occasion where a voice with certain specific flaws works VERY well and has enough dynamics to adapt to different songs very well.

It's crazy how talented and natural versatile Soyeon is, she's really a genius!

I enjoyed this!

they do have recording behind the scenes. very interesting to see soyeon work as a producer

I've been bugging him about this as well, haha. Perhaps, if they release a new recording video for Super Lady, it may be more appropriate for him to react to that. Also, not sure if this will entice him, but they released one recording video last album where Minnie was the producer (since he is Minnie biased)

Not you learning GarageBand in the middle lmao Thanks for reacting, I do like hearing about Soyeon's story, she just kept going. And every step, everyone knew how talented she was but she had to keep going, and eventually just say "fuck it" and do it herself. She's my top 1 in Kpop and its truly just her spirit that I can't get past. Even the things she makes, she clearly has her own style, but she also talks so much about writing the songs for the other members' sound, and also values their support so much. The video she talked about with the black lips and the sand was the concept trailer for their comeback here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_L_DZFdSNI) Also, I really think that the thing that makes her my favorite rapper is her phrasing, so I think it also carries over into her vocal technique and her singing. She does dynamics in her raps very well and adlibs and accents all over the place, so everything is very intentional. I think she thinks about her singing in the same way

The video Soyeon talks about is the first promo clip from their last album. In it, all members appear in simple black clothes, black lips, braids, and stare to the camera. It is a bit unnerving but awesome!

Koko3op

Aaaahhh that trailer eats! Yeah her phrasing is sooo good

I would love to hear Soyeon sing Only Love Could Hurt Like This by Paloma. Also, in re: to your comment about her phrasing, I think it's why she's such an exceptional rapper. I think those skills translate well to her singing.

One of the points you make during this video it that she is very good at phrasing. And that is exactly one of her biggest strengths, not only as a vocalist. But as a rapper especially. Soyeon as a rapper is one of the best at cadence, delivery and phrasing. And I can hear that it carries over very well during singing. I feel like she has such understanding of a song that she molds it into her own.

You’re so right about the phrasing!! It makes her singing so satisfying to hear because the timing matches so well with the music. The duet song: Love in the Milky Way Cafe is also my morning alarm!! The original artist 10cm also has a bit of a nasal tone which makes covers for the song not satisfying if the cover artist doesn’t also have a satisfying tone.
