couldn't have said it better myself. I like the end point where you tell us to just trust Pixar. I have hopes that 5 is gonna be the most potent commentary about ipad kids ever or at the very least it'll just be a solid entry in the series

I'll admit, I've always been neutral on TS4. I've never had that intense hatred of it, but i also didn't really enjoy it much when i watched it, though that also could've just been me being in a bad mood going into it. Point is, I liked hearing your thoughts on it, and I do think Woody's arc is probably the best thing about it. I'm sure the 5th one will be serviceable, though idk if I'll watch it just cause all the bs Disney's been pulling as a company makes me super reluctant to give them money rn.

Full honesty, when I saw this in the theater back in 2019, I cried. It spoke to me, as I was in a REALLY shitty part of my life. I was where Woody was, lost. Directionless, going through life but not living. I found myself with a purpose again later, but seeing him find his had me tearing up in the theater at 21. No shame in saying it either.

I'm typically a lurker, but I felt compelled to comment on this video because I think it's one of my favorite videos you've done. Not just because I appreciate your perspective on it (and the quality video too), but because it's changed mine a little bit too. I've never seen this movie because as someone who grew up with major love for the first two films and thought the third was a perfect ending for the series, I have always lowkey thought a fourth entry wasn't necessary and I was bombarded by negative commentary about it online that put me off it even more. I appreciate your perspective on the movie and how you changed your mind about it over time. It's nice to see some nuance and it's part of why I follow you. You don't just approach things with a half empty approach or full blown negativity. You always find a way to express yourself and your opinions with care for the subjects you speak about and the way you discuss the themes of the series you talk about is very fascinating and compelling! That attentiveness and consideration sets you apart from many other creators in this space and keeps me following you. I hope to find some time to check out this movie!

I think Toy Story 4 was fine, but I REALLY don't like the idea of a Toy Story 5 that still focuses on the original toys when their story already ended twice in 3 and 4

ToonrificTariq with the GOAT takes. Yeah the online hate never made sense to me (most online hate doesn't make sense). I've always opened my heart to this franchise. I saw Toy Story 3 as a teen with my dad and this movie as an adult with my dad (both times his idea) and loved that experience as much as I love this movie. I loved that Woody and Bo reunion, every scene with Forky, Buzz being a little silly but also playing straight man with Key and Peele, Woody helping Gabby Gabby and that lost little girl. I love when Woody wants to stay with Bo but he hesitates again because he feels obligated to Bonny and Buzz says "She'll be okay... Bonnie will be okay." When the crew gives him the look like "We'll be okay, now go be happy!" Like that almost made me cry, this franchise knows how to make hits.

I consider toy story 4 to be just as much of a masterpiece as the other 3 films and I will never quite get the complaints that its trash. And yes, I'm extremely excited about a toy story 5. Its possible pixar could drop 2 masterpieces in 2026 if hoppers also turns out to be amazing! Tired of the pixar hate and tired of how some people dismiss pixar's animation as calarts or "bean mouth"
