I get it's a story, but their first times could have also been with the persons they made promises to, or at least Evan's. I don't recall if Airan made a promise or not. As in a comment I made in a previous post, it's not the act. It's the fact that Evean made a promise. He could have either not made the promise, or he could have later contacted Nathan and told him he was no longer willing to wait. I'm sorry, but this was a $#!t move. I always hope better choices for characters I really like. I'm not going to stop talking like reading. Love the story. Just hate how this was handled.
