I think Angel had already forgiven Wesley for stealing his son in the sense that he was willing to work with him again, but now Angel understands why Wesley did what he did after seeing what he was willing to do to his own father to protect Fred. What I find really interesting though is that Wesley tells the robot he thought was his father that he should have talked to him about the plan, but Wesley not talking to anyone about stealing Angel's son is exactly the problem I have with what he did.

I'm so happy you adopted Wesley, he deserves a good parent. I frequently think of season 1 episode 14 'I've Got You Under My Skin' where Wesley says, “A father doesn’t have to be possessed to terrorize his children. He just has to..." and to see the continuation of that throughout the series and the way it sort of ends here is profoundly sad. Even after all that he still called his father and his father was a fucking jerk as per usual. It really does shine the light on why he might want to steal a baby to protect him from his father. It hit him right in his most tender pain. However, I still get very angry at him for not telling anyone about that and scream at the TV, "JUST TELL SOMEONE!!!" But just like Angel, I kind of better understand Wesley now. I have a father who terrorized us and as I process through my own shit in life, with every rewatch, I better understand and sympathize with Wesley's character more and more. It's been quite interesting. This episode is often a skip for me because of my crap, but it really is important to the whole of Wesley's character. I do enjoy his little joke thing at the end with Fred where he tells her that if she's there to tell him about how she killed her parents that maybe it can wait, because we all absolutely adore Fred's parents. Angel had a shit dad. Spike's mom's story makes everyone queasy. But Fred's parent's are just as wholesome as she is. I miss them. <3 And darn Knoxy for always getting in the way!! We don't have time for more love triangles! Wes has been in love with Fred for years. We've only got this one season. Move aside Knox! lol.

I really like most of the Buffy side characters but for some reason I like the Angel ones more. I loved seeing the journeys that Wesley and Cordy went on particularly. Seeing Wesley turn back into the old Wesley with his father around and then his mental torment at the end of this episode just really hits me in the feels.

Ahh man.... when you think of that first episode where we met Wesley in Buffy season 3.... and then you see that moment where Wes, without a moment's hesitation, not only shoots what he thinks is his father, but walks toward him emptying the clip into his body..... How our Wesley has changed.
