Episode 100: Death is your gift! Would you ever think, after watching "Welcome to the Hellmouth," you'd be this... emotional over the death of Cordelia Chase?

"I get that now." Doyle had said the same thing, right before he died. I just noticed that when Cordelia said the same thing, it foreshadowed her death. Also, David Boreanaz, Charisma Carpenter, and Christian Kane were all really close with Glenn Quinn who died around the following year that they filmed this episode. Apparently filming was very emotional for all three.

Oh my gosh. The way you predicted almost everything! Well done! On every rewatch I get so sad when Cordy pulls the curtain back so they can't see her body in the hospital."Miss one foot in the grave..." :'( They finally gave Cordy the ending she deserved and Charisma acted her ass off. Really takes the bitter taste season 4 left out. I love how she finally understood Doyle. Then that time when she almost told Wesley, "I know. Still... I'm sorry. I just wanted to tell you that before--" then miraculously found exactly what they were looking for instead of finishing her sentence, and all the mystical help she got when trying to shut down the machine. Season 5 has so much foreshadowing and nuggets, like this episode was an example of foreshadowing that Cordy wasn't ever really awake throughout the entire episode, but it was hidden so well that you were completely shocked when it was revealed. Then Lindsey doling out the facts, "Look at you, from champion to pathetic corporate puppet in just a few months." Also his, "You don't think they're angry, do you?" Then literally abducted right off the face of the Earth like an alien abduction! Oh man. Angel talking about beating up a tiny Texan. Ha ha. Gets me every time. I love Lindsey so much. He should've been on the show more. In the commentary they did talk about how hard it was on David and Charisma to film the scene where they watch Glenn Quinn on the tape, as he had passed away about 1 year ago at that point. <3 I love this episode so much. It really gives the closure we needed. 10 episodes left! We got this. It's about to get juicy! Not that it hasn't been already, because this episode was full juice. lol. That sounds weird.

29:14: Darcie: "What is this?" It's a love letter to Cordelia, and all who love her. Just watching your opening remarks, I have to say I am very impressed how spot-on your predictions were! Except, of course, the little surprise addition of Cordy. You think you know, what's to come... This episode is so bittersweet, but barring her permanent return to the show, I am glad that our Cordy at least got the send-off she deserved.

This might be my favorite Buffyverse episode full stop. That’s a perfectly written episode of television. I’m so glad that Charisma agreed to come back and give Cordy the send off that the character deserved. And that final scene never fails to make me cry. The women in the hospital bed on life support that Cordy says has one foot in the grave when Angel and Wes first see her is Cordy’s actual physical body. Something that you don’t catch until you rewatch it. This episode just gives me all the feels both happy and sad. Apparently Charisma only agreed to come back if the writers agreed not to kill the character off but when she read the script she knew that it was too good of an ending and so well written that she agreed anyways.

This one is such a bittersweet watch. But what a performance from Charismas Carpenter. I honestly would have wanted more from Cordey but this is an incredible way to go out too.

Even after all these years I still cry like a baby during this episode. Charisma walked back in and the whole show just warmed up and a joy set in. Cordy was always the heart, joy and warmth of Angel Investigations, and it is clear all the characters (especially Angel) are lost without her. Heartbreaking to lose her so soon after thinking we got her back, but darn if this isn't just the most wonderful, heartfelt send off to Cordelia.

Very nice of you to wear Cordy's cap for the 100th.

The thing with this episode is we're actually given a couple of pretty strong hints that Cordy is dead along the way, but we're usually just so happy to see her back that we miss them on first watch. Cordy's line about 'Miss one foot in the grave' is about her, she's drawing the curtain around herself, and then with Wes when she says, "I just wanted to tell you that before..." and then cuts off. Then right at the end she says that the powers that be owed her a favour, and this is her off ramp.
