You'll get a fair number of cliffhanger/2-parters with this show. And who doesn't like a good cliffhanger? That said, personally I hate the Slitheen. I'm all for a good "body snatcher" story - it's a tried and true sci-fi/horror trope and not hard to do well, but the endless childish fart jokes totally ruin them for me. Doesn't matter, this is gonna be such a fun journey!

The actress who plays the doctor in this episode is a main character in the spinoff series, Torchwood, so there is a popular fan theory that she popped up because the Torchwood Cardiff branch's doctor was hungover. She was covering for him with their boss. But yes, as Neil said, there are a fair number of cliffhangers in DW and the Slitheen show up multiple times in season one.

You were so good at calling stuff before it happened in this one, with the PM, ship's search for a ladnmark, spacepig coming back to life (and being scared), the Doctor zapping Slitheen & it saving Jackie, Mickey saving the day! As far as the concept of this ep goes, I was not a fan of the farting, BUT the Slitheen are otherwise very effective villains. Bc you mentioned it, I think some of the promotional stuff from 2005 for this series involved Mickey taking over Clive's website; it's cool to see you picked up on those breadcrumbs that made it into the show! Speaking of Giles, I was once getting a photo at a Comic Con with Anthony Head & the camera jammed so I ended up with his arm round me in a photo pose for two mins chatting whilst the photographer frantically tried to fix it 😂
