He wasn't only eating a salad. That's forgivable. He was eating a salad with NO dressing. That's worthy of capital punishment.

Lorelai’s face in that last frame summarizes my opinion on Christopher lol. That is all. Its funny I also get slightly defensive over woman in starring tv roles back then because they were such pioneers. Lucy Ricardo (Lucille Ball) also being mentioned this episode. So I always defend shows like “I Love Lucy” as being super progressive for their times. Older shows are actually very interesting to watch and finding all the little moments that are actually pretty progressive. But yeah Dean wasn’t talking about that, this whole dress up dinner thing was so weird. They could’ve made a much better commentary on it than they did lol. And Dean just comes across like an ass, it would’ve been cute if he insisted on making the rolls himself while she relaxes or something.

I think that all of rorys boyfriends are perfect for what they are and she learns something from each of them. Dean is the perfect first boyfriend imo - sweet and thoughtful and treats rory like a queen, but not the forever guy. He doesnt challenge her enough, but he definitely gives her an example for how she should be treated.

Wednesday is back, baby! Was going through withdrawal symptoms but I am sincerely very glad you took some time for yourself

I just discovered those budget home decorators within the past couple of weeks and THOSE WOMEN DESERVE PRISON TIME--NO BAIL!! One of the few instances where I can't support women's wrongs

carly powell

It is fine when a woman cooks, but I think what we are getting at is that she does everything for the man, and he doesn't help. He is getting all the treatment when he should be helping her and doing things to balance it out. Maybe we see things so differently now in a more progressive way, we can see how it should have been than how it was portrayed, and probably was in some cases.

Listen, I as a gay man would LOVE to be a housewife. Maybe not in the stereotypical sense but let me marry rich while I cook and clean our home for my mans--I am totally happy with that and if anybody regardless of gender wants that then it should be okay too What Dean is doing though, or at least feels like he's doing, is assigning outdated sexist gender roles as an ideal. If he had said that a husband doing the same would be nice for his working wife then that would make me think otherwise, but he seems very uhhhhhhhh traditional in how things should be in a marriage. And for that, this episode gives me the ick towards him lol

Oh hey, it's Christopher (derogatory). Showing up and immediately thinking he is the only person who decides whether or not Rory gets on his motorcycle??? Ugh, gone for so long that your own daughter didn't even recognize you until Lorelai said his name. What a bummmmmmm But obviously please form your own opinions. That's just the immediate vibe I get from that singular scene at the end haha

I know, that stupid outfit. Makes me cringe too, and it ruins an otherwise, perfectly good episode. They could have done that part without it, with Rory just cooking and acting the part, it would have worked fine, I mean, where did she even get it from, lol.

I used to think for a very long time, being a housewife meant a lack of independence but then saw the movie Mona Lisa Smile and it changed my opinion on it, I think this show is really difficult sometimes as a lot of people have at least one love interest that they would defend unapologetically, for me it’s a guy who shows up in the fifth season despite him not winning popularity polls

Easily one of my top 5 episodes of the series. And IDK what is wrong with Lorelai, she has more self-restraint than I do because if Luke looked at me like he looks at her... some things would've happened on that diner floor. 😆

DaniJay

My ears IMMEDIATELY Perked up at the Cary Agos of it all😉…Darcie, I truly cannot wait until we get to him too lol

I've only seen this show once through before, but this episode always sticks out to me for two reasons. The entire dinner thing makes me nauseated and I think it's where I really start to not like Dean. And secondly, Jared (Dean) looks at the camera SO much when they're all outside getting caught. He straight up makes a O_O face right at the audience! It makes me laugh so hard!! It makes one of the most painful episodes, for me, quite hilarious. 🤣

I like Christopher and Lorelai together. I am well aware of all the flaws in Christopher (and Lorelai) and this relationship, but I can't help it. They have insane chemistry and I love their story.

Shameless confession....I actually have an orange gingham dress like that! and a matching petticoat XD
