Rose - “You’ve got slaves?” Lady - “Oh don’t you start. She’s like one of that lot, the Friends of the Ood” Rose - “Well maybe I am yeah! Since when do humans need slaves?” Guy - “Well the Ood offer themselves. If you don’t give them orders they just hide away and die.” Rose - “Seriously? You like being ordered about?” Ood - “It is all we crave. We have nothing else in life.” Rose - “Yeah well I used to think like that…long time ago.” This episode is a great follow up episode to this entire one little conversation that was had in the Satan Pit two parter. I’m glad the Doctor and Donna finally got to take care of it. I will admit tho every time I watch it I’m sad that Rose doesn’t get to see it happen. Call me sentimental whatever it just would’ve been nice lol.

Tim McInnerny (The baddie salesman) has over 100 credits. The thing I associate him most with besides Doctor Who is the Kate Bush video for "This Woman's Work" https://youtu.be/UXzx--YefD8?si=qy2bkFTfugVtjwNe It's a fantastic wordless performance as the husband in the hospital waiting for news about his wife. Just thinking about the video makes me tear up.

THE OOD, MY BELOVED 🐙❤️ I love this episode so much! Bringing back an amazing alien design and making an amazing storyline.. ugh 🫶🏼 LOVE the DoctorDonna 🥹 But also that Ood transformation was wild and watching that man peel his scalp off suddenly felt like a LOT 😭 but also sick af lmao Also another gentle reminder of Rose without even mentioning her 😭

For some reason I was convinced this episode was a 2-parter and that the episode was going to end just as the Ood are approaching the handcuffed Doctor/Donna, but now I’m realising that might’ve just been where the “Next Time on” ended in the prior episode lol 😅

Jonathan Giles

One of my favourite episodes so far.

Discretely Obvious

almost caught up. this episode parallels the transatlantic slave trade so closely. it has the issue that a lot of media has though where they make most of the villains in this poc and the saviours white (superman 2025 had a similar issue). if you ever have the time to watch another creators reaction i highly recommend watching syntells. they're both black men who can speak on this more than i can and its really worth a watch if you have the time. also i dont think anyones corrected you since the premiere but silvia is donnas mother not grandma. shes wilfreds daughter, if i remember correctly.

Hey love the reactions as always. Just a heads up, it's started doing a weird thing on mobile. Every time I change the orientation (sometimes by accident) it reloads the page and the video which is really annoying lol. May not be the only one experiencing, thought I'd let you know in case it's anything in the settings. If it helps I think it's partly due to that playlist thing that automatically pops up 🙂
