Content

corrrrn pops!

this is going to be a long post so apologies in advance but i wanna chat with you all about some content stuff and get a feel for things i might possibly change!

this past year was SO much fun and i've thought a lot about how to potentially move to doing this full time (or close to) because there are genuinely SO many things i wanna watch with you all but working full time alongside doing content obviously leaves me a bit limited in time.

i spent a lot of time this month going over my analytics for 2024/2025 and i've noticed that whenever we come to the end of a season, i lose a large chunk of patrons when going into the wrap up and they don't always come back. the wrap up videos also have a significantly less viewing percentage than the rest of the episodes and now that i am in other reactors patreons, i notice that none of them really do them either.

the wrap-ups take much more time to do than regular reacts because of the prep time, and then i also end up recording longer which in turn makes editing longer. it doesn't seem to be a productive use of my time with the drop off and lower view counts so i am thinking about getting rid of them and just moving into the next season.

i would likely still keep notes along the way during the season like i always do, then maybe just go through them quick at the end of finale, maybe with finale treat lol so it would be a longer outro, but i wouldnt go as in depth etc as the usual wrap ups.

i am open to having other options etc, and ill add a poll to this post to see BUT either way please be nice to me cause i AM SENSITIVE AND I WILL CRY so if you hate the wrap ups just vote for them to go lol.

ANOTHER REASON (i told you this was going to be long) is that i wonder if we do get rid of those, it might free up other time for more content. i am not sure what i am doing with bonus thursdays yet because SUPERNATURAL has been floating around in my head for years now and an absolutely LOVELY human has actually sent me the ENTIRE dvd set so i could start watching with OG music and extras and everything! but its such a long show i really would want to try and do 2 a week........maybe thats a discussion for another post but just so yall know whats been floating around in this little brain of mine. :)

anyway thanks for reading and of course im interested to hear what you all think. im not saying this is a defining poll, but i wanted to get a read of the community. ALSO I SHOULDVE SAID THIS HIGHER UP but any of the current seasons we are in will be getting a wrap up ANYWAY cause ive already started them lol so this would take effect next season. (So doc who series 4, AoS S4, Charmed S4, OB S1 and GG S2 will get og wrap up videos)

okay now i will go away thank you and please be nice okay love you bye! xo

i say drop the wrap ups bc they unfortunately never do well (i relate). also will open up more time for orphan black so sounds like a win win in my book!!!!! also more time to react to stuff with ME

The wrap ups are fun but I’ll admit I don’t watch all of them! It is very fun to watch bonus content together - maybe there’s hybrid option where if there’s bonus content there could be a little mini video? Hopefully would take much less time than going through notes for the whole season. Just a thought though, I’d love more show reactions, so whatever enables that I’m on board with!

DaniJay

From a personal standpoint, I love the wrap ups! lol but I completely understand that those videos aren’t performing as well as the reactions. If you’re trying to transition into this full time, it totally makes sense to get rid of things that aren’t serving that purpose. I really like the idea to do a mini wrap up at the end of the season finale videos! It’s great to hear your overall thoughts on the stories and the characters each season, so I don’t think people will mind a longer outro ☺️

Jamie Revell

I do watch the wrap-ups, and I find they work well... but if they're a hassle and don't get much response, I can easily do without them, and a longer outro seems a good compromise. I've decided to vote for the long outro as the simpler solution, but I'm happy either way.

carly powell

I love the wrap ups with going in more detail and answering our questions, including what your thoughts for the next season. You put in so much thought and detail into it and its unfortunate that there is lower viewership. I understand if you are willing to give it up but I do hope you continue the bloopers and bts.

Shaun Houghton

I'm not voting, but I like the wrap ups. Do what works for you. If they go, I'll miss them, but I'll live.

Connor

I love the wrap ups so I'll be sad to see them go but do what you gotta do. Would you consider just 1 wrap up for the very end of the show to share some character/season/episode favourites and least favourites? I love hearing those. Congrats on the move to (maybe) going full time, that's major!

AJ

I love the wrap ups and i voted for keeping them , however if it's decided to quit those a long outro at the end of the last episode of a season would be great too

Michael Murray

Hey Darcie me & my partner are huge childhood doctor who fans and we love watching your reactions together! It’s so cool seeing someone watch for the first time something that defined & shaped our childhood and that we’ve seen thousands of times! I was wondering if you’d ever be open reacting to the spin offs like Torchwood & the Sarah Jane adventures? I’m only subscribed to you for Doctor who so it would be really cool to watch some more with you 😁

Matthew

I agree with most of the comments already. I really enjoyed the wrap ups. You might miss out on things like the AoS DubSmash. But I understand your predicament and would rather you do whats best for your business. Is there a middle ground? What about a live stream for the wrap up that you wouldn't need to edit?

Death Lego

I'm here either way, you know that. What works best for you time and energy wise is all I care about.

dwp

I'll be honest, I'm only really here for the Doctor Who content - and I guarantee you'll start getting way more views/patreons when you reach series 4 on YouTube. Anyway - I like the wrap up videos, but they are a retention killer. Being Doctor Who specific I think it makes sense to have longer outros for your thoughts on the series, then maybe a wrap up video for each Doctor's era? I know another creator does this for Doctor Who and it works really well. I also think if you eventually move onto the spin-off shows like Torchwood and Sarah Jane (even just trying them once in a while) will help with sign up's as they will be getting more than one DW video a week.

Denni Caid

I do generally watch your wrap ups but I get if it's too much effort... I like the idea of overall thoughts at the end of the season finale, a full show wrap up, and random bonus content like bloopers wherever they fit ... sounds like a nice compromise

Superplin

I personally adore the wrap-ups but I agree they don't seem like the best use of your time and platform. Maybe you could offer an extra tier with a live wrap-up and discussion session (so you don't have to go to the trouble of editing and can be a bit more spontaneous, plus people are paying extra for the privilege). I also like the idea below of having a series-end wrap-up to help you and us process the end of an era before you move onto a new show.

Eric Haefele

I do enjoy your wrap-ups. But given the choice between a wrap-up and a regular episode reaction, I would take the regular episode reaction every time. Anything that helps you gain and retain more patrons is good, with one exception. It definitely should be something you genuinely enjoy. It is too much like work if you pick a show simply to get more patrons. It has been my experience, that the larger a library of content that a reactor has accumulated, the longer I will continue with a reactor. You are the exception for me. I will re-watch your content multiple times because your value added within a regular episode reaction is the best that I have seen from any other reactor. For me, you have the perfect reactor personality.

J

I love the wrap ups personally, but I totally get it. Perhaps, if you decide to stop them, you could post a q and a poll and just answer them in the comments? I would say I'd love for you to keep the bloopers going, again, even if it's just at the end of the finale while you have you treat.

Lais

Personally, I like the wrapups very much, and look forward to them while we're watching the season. I like this moment we take to talk about stuff that might get passed by when you leave it to talk about at the end of the show. BUT, i also feel a little bit sad from the pause we get between seasons, like for instance, s05 of doctor who will only begin in like, 2 weeks or more... I like to send bits of contents and stuff, and if you find a place to keep them, i think it would be super fun... just like someone else said it, like a middle ground, maybe doing it live so you don't need to edit them, or even maybe little 10min videos through the weeks if it could fit in your schedule. But, just like the majority of the comments, I'll be happy either way, because more time means more content (and i was gonna suggest Supernatural also so...), and we all understand that time is a limited resource, so you do whatever works for you and we will follow along.

James B.

I voted for straight into the next season. But if you find you have the time, you could just do a slightly longer intro at the beginning of the next season's first ep where you churn through a few random q's. You always try to answer everybody's questions, but you don't need to. That's how you know you've made it...when you can ignore people.

Michael Fallon

I think, for some people, it breaks the cycle. I would recommend, like you said, doing a smaller wrap up after the finale, plus you could do longer outros after each episode, to give deeper thoughts on that episode and how it ties in overall with the other episodes - A bit like an ongoing wrap up. This puts across your thoughts but also keeps the episodes rolling. Just give an extra ten mins or so after each episode .

TJ

I do watch the wraps & they are always fun, but I’d also be ok with a longer wrap up on the finale video with maybe extra video content just added in sporadically (surprise us) as you have done with bloopers/ behind scenes etc before or however, you choose that works best with you. One thing that I think I would really miss is the getting to interact with you through viewer questions so maybe keep those & instead of doing a whole video just answer them here for people to read & reply, just a suggestion if wrap ups do go bye bye. I have to add please think about Moonlight for DH substitute it’s only 16 episodes so would be a quick add & then open again for a fun new show. I think you would really like it refer to our private chats for reasons 😉

SeeJay

I say go into the next season but a longer outro, not because I don't like wrap ups or they aren't a good idea, but if the data says they actively damaging your business then they should go. Sometimes the best ideas end up forever just being an idea, and it doesn't mean they weren't good or valued in the first place, just that they aren't right fit at this moment.

DaniJay

Also, since it’s out there—would be SO FUN to see your reactions to Supernatural! While I do think the series did go on a little too long, so much of it was great! (and as a random note, it’s one of the peak tv shows for bloopers)

TheLoungingPotato

As a content creator myself, I completely understand wanting/needing to kinda understand the analytics and base your work of off it I think the longer outro for finales would be the perfect middle ground. Viewership wouldn't drop and people who want to hear your thoughts on things like myself would stick around and enjoy the discussion

Sean Ellingham

I can only think of four reactors I've supported including yourself who do wrap ups (and two of them don't any longer), however I like them because it's a way to get more thoughts about a show/season as a whole, plus it's a way to ask questions that you can be sure the reactor will actually read and respond to - which in my experience generally doesn't usually happen for comments (which in turn is why on the whole I don't leave comments on the majority of reactors I support). I'd also suggest that people who can't be bothered to hang around for an extra week to cover a wrap up between seasons weren't going to stay past that season anyway, so I'm not sure that dropping them will make much difference retention wise.

SunnydaleClassof99

That stinks that wrap-ups are actively hurting your channel. The more I think about it seems like no one else is doing them. So I guess they gotta go🤣 I enjoy them. I'll echo what a lot of people are saying that a longer video on the season finale will probably be fine & if you wanna do a Q&A in the comments that's cool.

Andrew Nicholson

I tend to only watch reactions to shows i like, so that limits my views. Go with what works for your channel, if the stats says longer outros rather than series reviews, why not give it a try. I’m sure most of us will forgive you a bit of experimenting, especially if you keep clearly communicating, which you are good at. It’s difficult to give enthusiastic encouragement without it sounding a bit weird… but i find your reaction videos interesting and fun, and your style charming and appealing… so i enjoy sharing your Dr Who journey! I’m sure at times it might seem upsetting when you get negative feedback…, just remember that for every 1 negative, theres 10 more of us who are cheering you on from the sidelines. … (and while you’re working on the daily grind , remember theres loads of us all around the world looking forward to hearing your latest adventures & wishing you every success.) Knock em dead, Tiger.

SunnydaleClassof99

1I wish I could co-sign Supernatural but I just absolutely can't. They still have a pretty big online following so think they can weather my tiny little voice of dissent 😄 This comes from a place of having seen every single episode & many of them twice. If it wasn't nearly 230 hours of your life just watching I'd say go for it. The time commitment is massive & the juice isn't worth the squeeze IMO. I won't deny there are MANY great episodes & several compelling arcs. It's hard to register my concern without veering into any kind of a spoiler. I'll just say ultimately it boils down to an abundance of poor writing. I say this as someone that's seen more TV than could be considered remotely reasonable. It's far far far from the worst show of all-time, it's just not remotely rewarding enough for the time commitment.

JameseyReacts

Just gotta say I love watching the shows with you and you’ve been a huge inspiration for me to dip my toe into the world of content creation for tv shows and video games. I usually only watch creators who react to shows that I really like and I love hearing the thoughts and feelings and discussions you have in all the intros and outros of every episode it feels just right! I would love to see you react to Supernatural it’s such a good one!!! You’re awesome sauce!! Keep it up girlie! 💜

apollo (plural)

We totally understand why there are so many supernatural shooters but as someone who has not watched much of it but has a lot of friends who has we just can't emphasise enough how many of them have a deep loathing for it as a piece of work overall and it's that fact that keeps us from watching it and saying that we just don't have it in us to give it a chance (even tho watching new shows like doctor who and orphan black alongside you has been a surprising joy).

Katie 🫶

Ill be honest i dont watch the wrap ups cause i dont have the attention span but always finish a video. So i would deffo watch till the end if u just added it to the finale episode. ❤️❤️

Neil Silverman

Please don't cry, I think you're an awesome person and I love spending time watching shows with you in this weird parasocial environment of patreon and youtube! But I will confess I only watch the recaps about 50% of the time. I think mainly because they are long and I only have so much time in a day, and really, what's there to say that wasn't said over the course of a season/show? Sometimes I will jump around the wrap-ups, because there are a few interesting topics, like favorite characters, plotlines, or moments, but I think those can be covered in an outro. I will say I'm not sure I have the intestinal fortitude to sit through a full watch of Supernatural - I watched the whole thing as it aired, and, well, I feel like once is enough and let's leave it at that. I think I'm of the same mind as SunnydaleClassof99 on this one. But maybe I'll watch a bit and see how it goes. In any case, I'm having a lot of fun following your watching of AoS, Ted Lasso, Gilmore Girls, and Orphan Black, and discovering most of those shows with you, so it's all good.

Izzie

I LOVE watching your wrap ups but I'm happy to say goodbye if it's essentially wasting your time! so I've voted for a longer series finale outro :)

Lizzi Mellon

I absolutely love your wrap ups!! But can see how they would take a lot of time and may not be as rewarding so if the stats are more favourable for longer outros go for it. Just please don’t give them up completely😊

Paflad

I personally enjoy the wrap ups, and would be sad to see them go but if it makes your life easier, and potentially means more shows being covered sooner, I'm not gonna be mad if you go in that direction. At the end of the day, you gotta do what's good for the channel, and more importantly for yourself

Jeff Walker

Watched your Buffy reactions and then joined again for Orphan Black. I would definitely stay on if you followed Orphan Black with "The Magicians". Voted for no wrap up video.

Samanthadiane

I'm literally so torn! I love them, but it seems it would be more helpful to you to cut them. I remember when you ranked Buffy episodes! It inspired me to do the same. I think I'm okay getting rid of them, but I'll be sad about it for a while, like the concert tees I can't wear, but can't let go of yet. Lol. I do appreciate that you'd do a longer finale episode. I really like your commentary and thoughts. I think it's a good middle ground.

Em

Selfishly I want them for Doctor who specifically but that’s because I feel like there is so much to talk about😂 so I did vote to keep them but I did totally get that it may be best to not Would love supernatural! I’m currently somewhere in s11 but I do agree it’s a 2 a week type situation

Ray D

I’m not going to vote because I’m fine either way. I watch most of (but not all) of the recaps for the shows I watch. I do like watching the behind the scenes stuff but honestly, if it’s costing you members then girl you gotta do what’s best for your channel (and wallet). As for Supermatural? I’d probably be out on that one. I watched like 1 and a half seasons and it just didn’t stick for whatever reason. I know it has a lot of fans though.

Steven Winthrop

I enjoy the Q&A bit so if you can work those in at the beginning of the premiere that’d be fun. Otherwise I’m ok with the wrap ups going 🙂

Becky Mitchell

I think longer outro is the way to go, for your channel. If the wrap ups don't have a time involved and benefit match, they should go. I would love to suggest the show Killjoys as an alternative to Supernatural. I don't hate Supernatural, but I never made it past season 2.

MarsLander

I voted yes but I’m here for whatever is best for you. To be honest, I really only feel recaps are crucial for Buffy and S.H.I.E.L.D. lol

Rae

I voted to go straight into next season, but only if you do a somewhat substantial wrap-up at the season finale. Obviously it couldn't be as long and in-depth as the separate video wrap-ups, but I definitely want to hear your final thoughts on each season as a whole. I think you would be fine to cut the Q&A portion, but I really like hearing about your favorite and least favorite episodes, your final thoughts about the season's storyline, and which characters you loved and hated. I also LOVE when you do the bonus features and other extra content like the behind the scenes videos and bloopers, but those could maybe be a short, lower-effort, minimally-edited separate video? In other news, I would totally watch Supernatural if you choose to bring it to the channel. Your YouTube video about the pilot was hilarious. It's definitely not about aliens.

Sarah Frost

SUPERNATURAL!!! LET'S GO!!! Voted for option B because I want you to do whatever you feel is best for your channel.

Erica Schaefer

I might actually get the gumption to rewatch all of Supernatural if I have you to watch it with. LOL.

Xander Martin

I love a good wrap up tacked on to the end of a season finale. At the end of a finale I like your thoughts, but it’s when I’m most hyped to see your reaction to the start of the next season that having to wait a fortnight is painful. So, please keep sharing your season thoughts, but I’m also here just as much to see the look on your face as things happen. Much love either way!

Pooga

I've been playing catch-up the past week or so. I never stopped being a patron, but I kind of got busy and stopped watching sometime towards the end of your Buffy reactions. I always appreciated your end-of-season wrap-up videos, but honestly I tended to just watch the BTS & blooper vids. So I'm part of the problem. WRT watching Supernatural... I'm somewhat indifferent. There nothing wrong with it, but it never hooked me in like the Whedon shows, Doctor Who or Orphan Black. It sits on the same level as Charmed for me. If you think you might want to try something shorter, considering how much you always gush about heist episodes, I suggest Leverage. Basically *every* episode is a heist episode! Plus, it has Christian Kane (Lindsey from Angel) as a main cast member. Just a suggestion. Whatever you do, I'll still be following. 😊

Jaci

I voted to keep them, but I've always loved a good wrap up and BTS reaction. If I'm honest though Buffy & SHIELD were the only wrap ups I've watched as those shows hit hard and dive deep. If losing the wrap ups makes your life easier, helps retain subscribers and leaves room for other content then I can deal. Perhaps certain shows can have and an end of season bonus video with BTS rather than you doing for all the shows.
