Lorelei was just trying to share an epiphany she had, so I know she meant well, but he has a point. She didn't really consider the implications, or how he would take it.

I really love the balance they struck with Sherry's character here — like, she obviously is a very different vibe to Lorelai and Rory haha, and seems a little high strung, but clearly has good intentions with wanting to connect with her boyfriend's daughter. They very easily could have just gone with the "evil step mom" trope where she resents having to go meet his ex and daughter or something, but I think they did a great job making her just a Different Vibe rather than a villain. Also, I do just love a Friday Night Dinner that slowly descends into disaster haha, it never gets old!

Oh, how I have missed you. I hope everything having to do with the wedding went incredibly well and that you got some much deserved rest! But selfishly, I am very happy to have you back haha This episode is so snappy. The dialogue, the plot, the arguments, the comedy--it all feels like a ping pong match with a lot of great back-and-forth moments As for what you asked about Christopher at the end, I think it's a bit of both Lorelai more or less blaming him for not being able to move on and also confronting the fact that maybe if he had gotten his life together earlier that it could have actually worked out between the two of them. This is one of the very very few times where I will back him up but Lorelai might have dressed it up in a pretty gift box with her kind tone and warm voice but she was, essentially, putting the blame on Christopher. She clearly wasn't aware of the extent of it but yeah, she more or less said "Maybe if you'd gotten your act together sooner, the three of us could have actually been a family together and I wouldn't have had such a failure of a love life for almost two decades" I'm glad she came to that realization herself because it is a good stepping stone into moving forward but good lord, that was not the way to share that revelation with Christopher haha

I get what Lorelei meant, but even though Chris's reaction was a bit strong (no need to yell), I'm totally with him on how he felt about it. It's perfectly fine to come to whatever realizations you can about your own life and how you've been living it; it's not fine to tell someone "I haven't gotten my shit together because I was secretly waiting for you to get your shit together." That IS a tremendous amount of guilt/responsibility/baggage/whatever to put on someone, and sometimes honesty is NOT the best policy, and it's better to simply learn the lesson, internalize it, and move on. In short, Emily was way out of line, even though it's probably good that it drove Lorelei to her epiphany, but Lorelei was also out of line. Sherry is definitely a little intense, and I think I get where she's coming from, but also, she seems so weird about it. Maybe it's just me, but she gives me weird vibes. The heist (reverse heist?) was chef's kiss. I'm with you on Paris & Rory. I hope we get to see them become actual friends. I think Paris could use a real friend.

Sherry, in some ways, reminds me of my stepmom. She was different in that she (my stepmom) is the one who pushed my father to get his life together and have a relationship with me, but she also (like Sherry) made it clear to my mom that they didn't need to have a relationship. Which makes it hilarious that she and my mom ended up being Facebook friends years after my father and I finally stopped pretending to have a relationship, and even after she left my father, which is how I found out that both my grandparents, one of my cousins, and one of my uncles died (because my stepmom still talks to my father, apparently). They might actually still be Facebook friends, idk, I deleted my Facebook years ago.
