Answering your question: I first watched Doctor Who right after the 50th anniversary, on Netflix. In my country at least, the episodes available were all wrong, there were a few christmas specials missing for instance, so a lot of what happens didnt make any sense, and i was like ??whattt???... after i finished it, i started to google and search for information and content on doctor who, that's when i found out that there were christmas specials, so i had to rewatch it all again, this time with the right episodes (piracy) and following wikipedia's episode order. After that, whenever I found out about a minisode, i'd rewatch it all again to see if the minisode "placement" was correct and if it were, i kept it in a list. If it weren't..... well, i would rewatch it all again to see if i could find a better place for it. Anyway, that's how this whovian was born!

I'm pretty sure that the first time I watched Space/Time was on the dvd box-set release.

River's recounting of how it feels to know and see The Doctor, in the way that she has too, is a real mind bender. There's her perspective, his, and then ours of course. I have referred to The Doctor's perspective of River as the Schrodinger's cat of interactions. It's a clumsy metaphor. But I like the symbolic duality. Even though that hypothetical box was open at the very beginning. To The Doctor she is both alive and dead. Not unlike so many people they encounter throughout time.

Man I forgot how hard this season hits... This is gonna be a hell of a ride. I definitely saw the little mini-sode before. When I first watched this, I just set it up on my Tivo to record Doctor Who on BBC America. So it just got recorded whenever it aired, and I'd check every once in a while and be like "oh hey, new Doctor Who!" and just watch it. So it must have aired at some point on the BBC. I would guess it must have been before episode 1, or right after the Christmas episode.

I only found out about the mini-sodes years after watching the regular episodes. They were not on the DVD’s I was getting from the library — which is how I first watched Doctor Who. (I finally started watching DW in 2016 or 17 after years of people telling me I wasn’t watching my favorite show.) I first heard about the minisodes from seeing/hearing them mentioned on fan sites/podcasts. You don’t really need them (with maybe a couple exceptions) to follow the regular episodes.

I LOVE THIS STORYYYY YES GIRL

All the episodes from here to the 60th anniversary episode are great. Enjoy it, this is the best era of Who. To answer all of your confused questions. Yes. 😈 If you check out the title of *last* seasons finale, you’ll realise it’s both a double entendre and foreshadowing ….smart man, that Mr Moffat. Also, nice to see Mark Shepherd, one of my favourite actors, in between his Supernatural manifestations…and his dad!

AHHHHHH HERE WE GO. This is one of those Doctor Who moments I wish I was reacting to at the time. But that was 2011 which sounds crazy. But I have been waiting for this moment. This episode had A LOT. Yeah, the death of the Doctor is A LOT. I didn't want Matt to go...And then, THAT HAPPENS. Seeing you almost in denial/having a blue screen of death moment was fun. The first bits in the Oval Office is just hilarious. "You think you can just shoot me" "THEY'RE AMERICANS" "12 jammy dodgers and a fez!" The "He's hot when he's clever" scene always kills me. AND AMY IS PREGNANTTTT! Btw, Older Canton is Mark Sheppard's (Younger Canton) actual dad (William Morgan Sheppard). Great to see Mark!

The early bit when they meet up with The Doctor & the gang was filmed in Monument Valley. Monument Valley is in Arizona & Utah. John Ford shot eight films there. His work & that location came to define what people think of when they hear The American West. It's a very beautiful location that still attracts a lot of attention artistically & from tourism.

Absolutely mad season opener that takes the massive stakes from the finale last season & scoffs at them.

So, I found out about the mini-sodes when I drove down to a British pub in Orlando that was hosting a viewing of this episode. I had no idea what was going on lol This is def one of my favorite seasons.

I had to fact-check Loving vs Virginia because I was about to say something wrong about interracial marriage lol But thankfully Google is free and reminded me that Loving was in '67 and this episode is set in '69

There were Doctor Who Facebook groups, there were YouTube channels, there were old school blogs like Kasteberous, before he got upset and nuked the site, because the Doctor could be a girl. Season 5 was when Doctor Who went all in on expanding their reach and it was all over every social media platform that existed.
