So far Rory has died in: - Amy's Choice - The Hungry Earth / Cold Blood - The Pandorica Opens / The Big Bang (never existed) - The Impossible Astronaut / Day of the Moon (body bag fakeout) - This one He has NOT died in: - The Vampires of Venice - A Christmas Carol that's it.

the big grey elephant in the middle of the room.... amy did give up, but we don't talk about it.

The Doctor wanted an adventure! This had a good premise and touching moments but, as Darcie picked up on, the pacing was off - a bit frantic. The eye patch lady made a quick return from 'Day of the Moon' too...intriguing. The next episode is an absolute gem!

It was a happy Friday, and then I heard just an hour ago that Anthony Head died. And now I'm sad.

Not my favorite episode either, despite the inclusion of pirates (and yes, Amy made a great pirate). Fun fact, the Doctor names the pirate captain as Henry Avery in this episode. Avery or Every was in fact a famous British pirate, who pulled off a massive theft in the Indian Ocean in the 17th century, spurring a worldwide manhunt for him. Many of his crew were captured, but he himself was never caught and seemingly disappeared. Worth checking out the wikipedia page on him - he's a really interesting character.

Seemingly disappeared you say? Perhaps to be the captain of a spaceship...

Amy 100% gives up when doing CPR on Rory. It always bugs me whenever their relationship is portrayed as the pinnacle of the star-crossed lovers trope, when half the time she's emmasculating him for comedy, being all will-they/won't-they with the Doctor, or just generally acting like a selfish person. This is the biggest example of her failing to do for him what he would never fail to do for her.

I certainly agree Rory is the more doggedly devoted of the two. You can’t imagine her waiting 2,000 years for him without …distractions. She’s not unflawed, but then no person is without flaws. However… she does love him.

He didn't die in The Eleventh Hour!

Lais

you're right!! forgot that one cause it was before he officially came along, but any episode Rory stays alive is worth to notice!

Tooooooo many times. The dead-not-dead game that Moffat plays is kinda getting on my nerves.

There was bound to be a letdown after two arc heavy episodes (was there?) but I enjoyed this more than the last time I saw it. The idea of a paper cut being a death sentence is interesting. I also really appreciated there wasn't a long explanation of why he became a pirate & abandoned his family. The ending hit for me as well as they're now space pirates!
