hey corn pops! 

well whatta ya know, it's that time again. another season complete, another rambling from my brain. 

let's chat season 3 - what did i like, what didn't i like, what was my fave episode? i bet you'll guess lol. 

please remember these are just opinions and im mostly wrong! thank you, enjoy!! :D

Yay I love your thoughts. Totally agree with you with a lot of them. I think season 2 had an amazing good Big Bad, so emotional and strong and interesting. But season 3 had a bit of extra maturity in it, like they got their stuff together and had a plan and a more cohesive story. I feel like season 3 has really good monster of the week episodes. "Anne", "Faith, Hope, and Trick", "The Wish", "Band Candy", "Helpless", etc etc are so good. Even the one shot episodes like "The Wish" had references, impact, and character growth. I love rewatching this season because of this. I'm super stoked to see you check out Angel! And continuing Buffy of course :D

Um, I love opinions that are different from mine! That's exactly why I follow reactors, to see the show through different eyes. 100% agree with you that Season 3 feels tighter and more cohesive, there's still a handful of episodes in the second season that feel like they stop the story dead in it's tracks (still love 'em tho). The relationships in season 2 do feel a lot more emotionally charged, in part because we're finding out a lot of these things and experiencing them with our characters for the first time. Can't wait to see what you think of season 4 and Angel 1! Also love the vacation add ons at the end.

Also, I never knew I wanted "Oz, Angel and Wesley meet in a cabin in Canada" spin-off until now :D . Naturally they would be attacked by a snow demon, and Angel would beat it off with his snowboard while Wesley was being chased by Oz's pet polar bear. It would have been epic.

The Zeppo was the first episode I ever watched. Xander was my favorite character because of it until I got to Becoming, lol. But, yeah, The Zeppo has a special place in my heart too!

Season 3 has always been the season of Buffy I’ll mostly skip over, with the exception of the few standout episodes that you mentioned (plus Lovers Walk, which I was kinda salty you didn’t mention cos of Spike, but then I remembered Willow and Xander make out in that episode so, you know, fair enough). What’s cool is as I was watching along with you why I was kinda wondering why I don’t watch it that much; it’s pretty funny, only one or two below average episodes, and the season is probably one of the most well structured and thought out seasons of all Buffy. But you hit the nail on the head when you compared it to season 2; it doesn’t pack the same emotional stakes that season 2 has. Even though season 3 runs like a well oiled machine, the lack of history or screen time between the mayor and Buffy makes the face off less exciting. Also just wanted to give my thanks to you, Darcie, for your sincere and funny reactions. When you’ve been in the Buffy fandom for so long you can kind of get weighed down in the nitty-gritty, nit-picking arguments and discussions about philosophy, ship wars, and all the rest, but your reactions take me back to the first time I watched the show and remind me why we all love this show; it’s a hilarious, entertaining story with a lot of heart. On to season 4!

Totally agree. I really like season 3 but I love 2, and 1 has a special place in my heart and I love that one too <3 And yes, one BIG reason is Cal if I'm honest. I know, I know, but it's not just Cal, it's her effect on Rupe, her effect on the story line. And YES I hate that they don't deal with Rupe v Angel. My theory is that after Helpless Rupe is so desperate to prove to Buffy that she can trust him that he just shelves the whole Angel hate and focuses on how Buffy is feeling about the situation. The up shot of that is that he seems to be able to work with him and sympathise with Buffy when he's leaving but we never really get to see what he actually thinks about the situation. Which is a pity because I want more cool Rupe in a sexy blue shirt pointing crossbows at a contrite Angel 🤣
