I feel like getting David to be a benefactor so he could feel like he was a part of the demon fighting team would have potentially been a really good idea. Also, I bet Cordy could have "prostituted herself to him" with just the agreement between them that she be on his arm at social functions and it would have been a total win win, lol. He's a sweetheart, and all he wants is to be included and is happy to share his wealth. I feel like they're a little dismissive of him, tbh. Though I know it's played for laughs... and he is super awkward, lol.

DARLA! It’s neat how the show subtly built her up through flashbacks over the course of the season. It would be hard for a viewer to anticipate that her appearances in “The Prodigal” and “Five by Five” meant that she would be making an appearance in the present day by the end of the season (especially since she was, you know, dead) … and yet in retrospect it’s seems obvious that a big part of the purpose of those flashbacks, in addition to the parallels they had with the present-day stories in each of those episodes, was to prepare the way for this finale. (Side note, but when the demon Vocah is berating the lawyers for losing the scroll to Angel, he says, “I am summoned to perform the Raising—the very thing that was to bring this creature down to us, tear him from the Powers that Be—and *he* has the scroll?” Take that how you will.) There are some really interesting parallels between this episode and “Prophecy Girl”. Both are the first season finales of their respective shows; both begin with the Watcher character translating a prophecy that they received from Angel in the previous episode; and in both cases, the prophecy seems to reveal that the main character of the show in question is going to die. The difference, of course, is in how the main characters react to it. Buffy was just starting out in life, and had plenty that she still wanted to do; Angel has lived longer than anyone should, and—at least until the end of the episode, when the real meaning of “shanshu” is revealed—has very little to look forward to. (The title of the episode, of course, is a pun on “To Live and Die in LA”.) That said, I think Wes and Cordy were a little bit off-base when they were discussing Angel’s reaction to the news. He’s not *that* cut off from the world. There are clearly some things that matter to him… Wes and Cordy themselves being very high on that list, as the rest of the episode demonstrates. Really looking forward to next season! I don’t want to hype it up too much, but Buffy Season 5 is my favorite season of the Buffyverse, and Angel Season 2 is tied with Angel Season 5 for my favorite season of Angel. I really feel like both shows are firing on all cylinders next season, and it’s amazing to behold. :D

I just wanted to say how you've become one of my favorite, if not possibly my favorite, reactors to watch. You just have so much fun with everything and it's so joyous to watch you enjoy all of these moments. I don't think there's been a reaction so far that I've watched that I'm not laughing along with you, at something that I never would have thought was super funny before. Your energy is just so infectious, dude. Just thank you for being you, Darcie! Looking forward to many, many more episodes with you!

I haven't seen this finale in such a long time and watching this one was a blast! Season 1 of angel is a bit of a weird one because there's not a overall arc, at least that's how I felt with it, but it still has some amazing episodes, the angelus episode and the faith episodes are fantastic, but I still think this finale sets up Season 2 in a great way. Cannot wait for you to start the new seasons, it's gonna be great! Can't believe Season 5 is around the corner.
