Good intentions or not, Wesley stole the baby. I have no idea how many times the good intentions defence has worked in kidnapping cases, but hey you can try it. He had friends to consult, to look for an alternative, he did not. There are repercussions to acting alone, and getting it wrong, Wesley is experiencing that right now. Rightly or wrongly, that's how things work.

As much as I love Wesley, he completely stuffed up by not talking to anyone about the so-called prophecy. He took the gamble to handle it himself, but without proper regard to the stakes that were not his with which to bet. His actions directly led to Connor being taken and for that he must accept his culpability, even is it means he has to deal with it alone.
