The justification for Spike that was attempted in this episode is so off-putting, and I appreciate Dawn actually calling out how hypocritical and double-standard-like it is. Not one of my faves... but the comedic moments really outshine everything else.

I can work around it! 😂

A Fairly fun episode but doesn’t feel very essential to the overall story. Some of the jokes really land, I especially love the visual gag where Buffy is going to rocket launch principal wood and spike tackles her and it’s sort of framed in the background. I also love seeing The Breeders play The bronze. Kim Deal is such a legend.

Spike had a reflection in this episode

Wow I really didn't think this one would make you cry ;) lol

Naaaahh..laugh-crying still totally counts as crying! 😜 also, in the UK at least, chewing gum and bubble gum are different

I do appreciate the very purposeful use of music in this episode- except for the scene at the Bronze, it's very un-Buffy-like and very teen romance/Dawson's Creeky. Also, Oz in "Inca Mummy Girl", when a bandmate asks what he looks for in a girl: "Well, it involves a feather boa and the theme from 'A Summer Place'". The theme from "A Summer Place" (a 1959 teen romance film) is what is played when Dawn, Buffy, Willow and Anya each see RJ in his jacket for the first time. I guess someone in the writers' room has a thing for that song... And note Dawn's red jacket in the final scene, very similar in color to RJ's jacket- she's taking her power back!

This is such a fun one. I rewatch it a lot when I just want something easy and silly. Buffy and Spike outside the principal's window is one of my absolute favourite comedic bits! I rewatched just that bit so many times. Of course the epic speech to Dawn about how a guy isn't worth her life, not ever, from Buffy, even while she's under a strong love spell. I love that moment so much. <3

Not my favorite episode, but Darcie laughing through it made it much better. It's a good episode, for sure, but it's just a filler, in my opinion.

Since I was checking the wiki to confirm the band at the Bronze was The Breeders, I checked the guest cast list as well. *I* didn't recognize him, but apparently R.J. was played by Thad Luckinbill, who was on The Young and the Restless from 1999 to 2010. He played "J.T. Hellstrom". 🤷 He's been in other stuff, but it looks like mainly as a guest star.

Buffy and Spike fighting over killing Wood is one of my favorite moments in the entire show 🤣🤣

Glad you enjoyed the episode! The fandom hates on it ridiculously too much and doesn't just enjoy it for the comedy. It's not supposed to be taken seriously!

I love that Buffy still has Joyce's car and still drives like a spaz. Never noticed that before.
