I don't think it's Buffy that has to die to call the new Slayer. Shouldn't it be Faith? Buffy dying in S1 called Kendra, Kendra dying called Faith. Buffy died again in S5, but a new Slayer was not called. Therefore, Buffy is now out of the lineage.

Okay, but Dawn is kind of a badass even without being a Maybe. I never understood the Dawn hate in the fandom; when I was at SDCC forever ago I went to a viewing of Once More with Feeling and like the entire audience booed when Dawn appeared.

Dawns storyline and Xanders talk with her at the end was great. But most of the episode is very meh for me. More annoying potentials and boring Buffy speeches. This season starts off very strong for me but with the introduction of the potentials and focus on them we are in a big time mid season lul for me. I’m just not a fan of the potentials.
