Question for the culture: Anyone hate Kennedy? Anyone besides me?

Matthew Shields

Darcie's look at 27:12 is exactly the look I wanted.

Not me crying over Willow and Tara AGAIN. Nope...

Ben

I was so impatient for this one it’s so heart breaking that willow blamed herself love your reactions darce I stay up until 2am wednesday mornings in Australia just to watch haha

Apparently, Anthony had pitched the idea of Giles being a villain and this is the most they were willing to do. You can go back and check that Giles does not interact with any other character ever since he came back. It is pretty clever, but I think the idea only works on paper. Even after they seeded the idea that Giles might be the first in this episode, I never considered it a real possibility because the idea of killing Giles off camera was so outlandish to me. Maybe it would have worked better if they hinted in an earlier episode that Giles might be the first.

I really can’t stand Kennedy. Giles tells the potentials that they need to go on this vision quest thing and that it’s an important part of their training and Kennedy decides that she should fake being sick so that she can skip it and try to hook up with Willow while everyone is gone? What an egotistical idiot. It’s only the fate of the world at stake, trying to get laid seems more important for sure.

Another one of my favorite musical score moments! Christophe Beck is a genius and did so much of my favorite scores from earlier in the series, but Robert Duncan really jumped in and did an amazing job in the music of this season. "Kissed to Life" is the score that plays for Willow and Kennedy at the end and I absolutely love it. It sort of reminds me of the song that plays during Willow's moment with Tara's clothes in season 6, where she uses magic to kind of fill the clothes with Tara's form when she misses her. It's not exactly the same, but it has that same pretty/haunting piano vibe. And I love it lol, okay rambling over 😂

Oh man, that moment when Willow says "I let her be dead"... just rips through my heart. I think we can all relate to that feeling of enjoying a moment of fleeting happiness after losing someone, only to be hit a moment later with guilt and the sadness all rushing back in. Adam Bush and Alyson Hannigan both do great jobs of playing each other in this episode but Adam really impresses me here. And watching him cry infront of the window where Tara was shot- even though it isn't really Warren and we know it's Willow in Warren's body- somehow it still offers some catharsis hearing him say "I'm sorry". A beautiful scene.

I’ve been pondering this for a bit and yeah, I get that Kennedy is not the most popular of characters. Here’s what I’ve been mulling. Echoing something @StephanieB said, I think that Alyson Hannigan is a better actor in these scenes than Iyari Limon, and that part of the dislike is caused by that. Her delivery doesn’t feel as emotionally nuanced to me as Alyson’s, and I think difference in ability is apparent in some of their scenes together. It’s not off by /tons/, but something does feel off there to me.

This episode! I'm so glad Giles will be allowed to touch things again! He was getting pretty boring. lol. Warren and Willow, ugh, they destroyed my heart, as always in this ep. Willow tears are powerful. It's never a flower shop! When you were rooting for Amy I was just like, 'Oh no! She's going to let you down so hard!' Fricken Amy can't just leave well enough alone. I think Kennedy was really sweet in this episode. Just to put that out there. Lastly, as much as you like watching other actors play other actors I think you'd really like Dollhouse! Eliza Dushku is in it. Critics of it have valid points, but I think they are missing the bigger message of the show. Plus, it's only two seasons. IDK I love it and every time you mention enjoying watching actors play other characters my first thought is, "YOU SHOULD WATCH DOLLHOUSE!" lol :D

Darcie, I cannot stress this enough: *PLEASE* REVISIT YOUR DREAM IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE FINALE like, yeah. Plz.

Captain Hammer

That's a cute detail that they traded drinks. Good catch
