Hey everyone,

I wanted to let you know that my website was hacked earlier today. It was down for about an hour while I worked to restore a backup from yesterday.Everything is back online now, and I apologize to anyone who wasn’t able to access it during that time.

I found out it was a hack because I discovered some malicious code injected into my site’s files. I’m currently working with one of my patrons to fix the damage and secure the site as best as we can. Unfortunately, any comments and likes left between yesterday and today were lost in the process… I’m really sorry if you took the time to share something and it’s now gone.

It’s a tough blow, I won’t lie. I don’t know what the hacker(s)' intentions were — there’s no personal or financial data on the site, so this was probably just an act of malice… or maybe someone trying to access content for free and destroying everything in the process.

It’s frustrating, but don't worry, it won’t kill my motivation.

I don't often say this, but thank you very much for your support.I appreciate it more than ever.Take care and talk soon!G-U-C

Thanks for letting us know I’m glad you got it back

FCKING bastard doing that! 🤬, G-U-C, can't you trace your subscribers on your patreon and find out who was active on your website recently or no? I bet anything, it's a recent subscribed user or someone that bypassed the login screen that hacked the website. (If so, thats a low c0ck blow, even for a human, god man...)

DragNovith

Do you know how the hacker was able to inject malicious code?

Thank you for letting us know, keeping us informed and for staying strong!

Thanks for letting us know, but don’t you maybe think that it is easier to just store data on Patreon like previously? You won’t get problems like those here.

A private website typically allows more control over content to the owner. Patreon can technically remove content they don't like, and in some cases even ban the author in question.

Thanks for the notice. You should inform your host as well, so that they may verify other sites they host didn't get hit too.

Yes, and to it there is always but It needs specialised way of security handling and for this you won’t get help from Patreon official security team and their technology. You need to do it yourself and this is not secure. I took a look at the website code and it is not very secure lets say. I did not penetrate it but I see some options for for example path traversals in image download endpoints

If G-U-C wants I can try some pen testing there

Kinda sad for someone to do this, luckily nothing got lost or damaged

G-U-C : Growth Under Control

I don't think it's a subscriber. It's not someone who logged into the website — they used scripts to inject malicious code into my website's files until it broke. :/

G-U-C : Growth Under Control

I actually have a lot of advantages using this website. First, it’s convenient for me to upload content with my own settings. It also lets me mix static panels with animated ones, like I do in some of my comics. On top of that, I can publish in much better quality (Patreon's compression is terrible), and it helps prevent the content from being stolen and reposted on third-party sites. I also think vertical scrolling on mobile is way more comfortable than having to view the images one by one on Patreon... And of course, if you'd like to do some stress testing, I'd be grateful, maybe you can help me find some vulnerabilities.

G-U-C : Growth Under Control

Yeah, I’ve been really stressed from losing everything. I think I’ll be a lot more careful with security and backups from now on 😅

Damn, low sh1t scum, thats a low ball move, i don't know why anyone would want to do that, but i hope you get your website sorted out and fixed, otherwise none of us members will be able to read your comics 😁

I'm glad to hear that. That you don't let it affect you and keep going! ^-^ I'm looking forward to the post (:
