It had been an exhausting few weeks for Sadie Miller.

The last tour with Shep had come to a close, and they’d gone back to see their family in Michigan for a couple of weeks. Until they came back, Sadie was alone in Beach City, living in the basement once again. It felt more than a little chafing, but honestly, she was so tired she simply appreciated having somewhere to sleep at all.

She needed a break. Lars, Buck, Sour Cream and Jenny had scattered to the four winds, so there was no one to hang out with; even Steven and Connie were off sharing an apartment at Jayhawk nowadays. She supposed there was always Ronaldo, but she honestly preferred him in smaller doses.

She let out a long sigh as she lay on her bed, flicking through the newspaper. It wasn’t as though she was invested in the news - it was just something to read.

Presently, her eyes fell on an ad in the classifieds.

WANTED: HUMAN VOLUNTEER FOR HYPNOSIS ROBOT EXPERIMENT.

MUST BE FREE FOR THE NEXT TWO WEEKS.

CONTACT PERIDOT AND AMETHYST IN LITTLE HOMEWORLD.

Sadie pondered, raising an eyebrow. What were they up to now, she wondered?

By now, the town was well acquainted with the bizarre things that tended to happen when Peridot and Amethyst were bored; Beach City had a special law banning fifty foot transforming robots because of them after all. Going over to see what their plan was seemed like a dangerous idea; but on the other hand, there was very little going on in Beach City right now, and it would be nice to have an outlet with which to kill a few weeks.

She put down the paper, sat up and picked up her phone, searching for Amethyst in her contacts.

“...hey Amethyst, it’s Sadie. What’s this thing about Peri wanting volunteers?”
