Bro it’s kinda frustrating listening to the beginning of this episode the fact that you’re discussing whether Dave’s funny ass special is funny or not just kinda comes off as hate. The special was funny period. I don’t understand the pointless dissecting they are doing. It’s literally babbling about nothing. Why can’t something just be funny? While I think the discussion could have been handled better and I don't think I would necessarily agree with Schulz, I think there is merit in the thought exercise of analyzing what techniques "work" in Chappelle's latest special, as well how universally Dave's approach can be applied. Let me offer a comparison; I've been doing Jiu Jitsu and fighting MMA for nearly a decade now, and being a larger guy, there are certain positions in grappling - particularly from on top of an opponent - that I wonder "does this only work because of my size, would someone who weighs 115lbs be able to get away with this the way I do?" and it's perfectly fair and reasonable to prefer techniques that don't rely so much on one's size, but I also think there's value in mastering your game to your body type. I say all this to say, that I think of Dave Chappelle as a 300lb 4th degree BJJ black belt, and while it could be argued that he gets away with certain things - dealing with serious subjects with long, long breaks between punchlines - I also think that in a lot of ways he has an obligation to the art to pair the characteristics of his body with his mastery of the art to explore the boundaries of what can be done, and to then venture out into what can't be. I think Andrew is absolutely right when he says that another comic wouldnt get away with the same set, but I would argue that it's due to them - for the sake of this analogy - being a 112lb blue belt; They dont know the technique as well, and the certainly don't have the size. if that makes any sense.

Okay so I thought I was the only one who thought it’s cringe af whenever Alex and akaash take turns stroking Andrews ego constantly until I read the comments. I love these guys but it’s starting to get annoying as hell. It’s like Alex and akaash have a competition each week on who can suck Andrews dick the best. Alex is up rn tho. And I love love love Andrews comedy. I’ve been to a couple shows and even brought my friends along too but to have this mentality that you’re the savior of comedy is just not true and it doesn’t help when his friends are yes men and agree with everything he says
