Jane and Loki stood there speechless as Thor, the lost God of Thunder opened his palm, and his axe flew into it. He looked disheveled but it was still Thor.
Jane didn’t hesitate for a moment. Her hands went to her silver half mask and pulled it off. Her blonde hair tangled in it for a moment before it slid free and she dropped it to the ground. She dropped Mjolnir as well with a thud.
“Thor?” She asked again her voice a quiver. Loki stood off to the side in awe of seeing his brother alive.
Thor’s eyes flashed as they washed over Jane and her voice rang out in his head. He took a step towards, the axe dropping from his hand.
“Jane?” Thor embraced her and thanks to being in her god of thunder mode, he didn’t crush her to dust. She hugged back and he let out a little wince.
“I can’t believe you’re alive.” She said just holding him for a moment longer. They embraced what felt like an eternity. A tear slid down Jane’s face to match one that slid down Thor’s. It had been so long, they had missed one another so much that words could hardly describe.
The dragon’s roar in the distance broke them out of their emotional moment.
“Where have you been?” Jane asked as they broke the hug. It was a question all of Asgard was wondering.
“Hela, she kidnapped me as I was using the Bifrost. She wanted me out of the way before she launched an attack on Asgard.” He quickly said. He picked up his axe.
“Then why is she here on Earth?”
“She needs to increase her army’s size before launching the attack. No better place to gather souls.” He explained as Jane picked up Mjolnir and her helm.
“How did this happen?” He asked her.
“Your father stopped by and thought that I’d be best person to watch after Mjolnir. Apparently, you told him that.” She said searching Thor’s face. He blushed a little.
“I did, but I didn’t think it would ever come to pass. I had thrown the hammer as I was falling. I knew father would retrieve but I had no idea he’d bring it to you but honestly.” He said looking at her again and smiling. “I am glad he did. You make a worthy God of Thunder.”
“I try.” Jane said blushing at the compliment.
“Uh, yes. Hello brother.” Loki said finally stepping up. He didn’t get close to Thor like Jane did. They had a lot of history and animosity.
“Loki, I’ve missed you. I am glad you were here to help protect Jane as she got her footing to wield Mjolnir.” Thor said.
“Yeah, I protected her.” Loki said rolling with it. Jane shot him a look.
“Well, actually father dropped me off as I needed to lie low because you went missing and I being me everyone assumed I had a hand in it.” Loki said dancing around the subject. “Which, I hope you know I had nothing to do with it.”
Thor let out a loud laugh.
“Oh, Loki I didn’t suspect you for a moment.” Thor said laughing.
“Well, that’s g-.” Loki tried to say before he was cut off.
“Hela’s plan was more focused and straight forward than your plots. The moment I landed from the Bifrost she was upon me, and I was in chains.” Thor said as Loki grew a little red.
“I might have thought you took part, but Hela dissuaded me from the start. I thought she hated me, but brother she truly despises you. She would have kept me in the dungeons forever, but you she talked about flaying you a live only to reanimate you and do it all over again.”
“Yes, well. She can be like that.” Loki said.
The dragon roared again in the distance.
The joy in Thor’s face left as he grew grim again. As the dragon’s roar ended a distant cackling echoed through the ruins of the city. Jane turned and grimaced at the sound.
“I should handle that.” Thor and Jane said at the exact same time. They both smiled for an instant before the seriousness of the situation sank in again. Jane cleared her throat.
“I guess you want this back.” She said offering up Mjolnir. Thor was the rightful God of Thunder. With his return it was more than right he should take it up again. He smiled at her, but it was a strange one. Like he was happy yet sad.
“The right person has the hammer, Jane. Never forget that.”
Thor hefted the axe over his shoulder.
“I also have Stormbreaker here.” He spoke. Loki let out a small gasp.
“I was going to ask about the axe.” She spoke.
“Hela has a lot of things in her vaults.”
Jane nodded before getting back to the task at hand.
“So, which one do you want. Dragon or sister?” She asked Thor, who answered without hesitation.
“The dragon. I’ll fight the dragon.”
“I thought you’d say that.” Jane said as she took a moment before mentally prepping herself to face off against Hela again.
“Loki will tell you, she is terrifying. I’ll handle the dragon, you handle her and we celebrate after?” Thor offered.
“After I kick your sister’s ass, you are taking me to dinner.” Jane said giving him a cocky smile. Thor laughed.
“Deal.” Thor said as he stretched his arms.
“We’ll I guess me and Thor should handle the dragon.” Loki said walking towards his brother, who let out a snort.
“Really, Loki? After everything.” Jane said indignantly. The trickster shrugged.
“Hela is more of a one-on-one kind of fight. A dragon needs multiple people.” He said. Thor stepped in snorting another laugh.
“I believe you were put under her ward brother not mine. I think best you stay with her.” Thor said and before Loki could offer any kind of comeback, the returned God of Thunder hurled the axe into the air and lifted with it, flying off to fight the undead dragon revenging the city.
“Well, I guess I’ll go with you then.” Loki said giving up as Jane glared at him.
“When this is over, we are going to have a chat about loyalty.” Jane said as she grabbed the smaller trickster around the waist. Jane twirled Mjolnir and tossed the hammer into the air, flying with it.
They flew over the remains of the city looking for Hela, which was much easier than expected.
The queen of the dead had left a very clear path of destruction. They found Hela in the park; she was devastating it leaving grass and trees burned.
Jane backed off from the park and landed on a rooftop two blocks away.
“Shouldn’t we be confronting her?” Loki asked as she put him down.
“We will, but first does she have any weaknesses?” Jane asked. Confronting her head on without a game plan seemed like the worst idea imaginable after last time.
Loki put his hand to his chin deep in thought. Jane was worried that even though Loki was family, he would have no idea what kind of weakness Hela might have. From everything Jane had seen Hela was just as strong as her in God of Thunder mode, if not stronger and craftier than Loki possibly.
The trickster stood in thought for longer than she expected and Jane began to worry. If Hela had no weaknesses, an already difficult fight would be even worse. Loki began to nod his head as something triggered his memory.
“Only thing I can think of is her cloak.” The trickster said as he scratched his chin. “Yeah, just that.”
“Her cloak?” Jane asked confused. She thought it was just a piece of the outfit, not an essential item for Hela to wear.
“She was a sick child, so Odin had crafted a powerful cape she could wear to jump and play with the other children. But as time went on Hela enhanced the cape even more with more power making her stronger, faster and more deadly. With the cape she is extremely powerful, without it she returns to her natural weakened state. She’d barely be able to walk let alone fight.” Loki said explaining.
“So, all we need to do is get her cape off and she loses her powers?” Jane asked.
“It's technically a cloak. I think Odin called it the cloak of death or something, I don’t remember but yes.” He replied.
“I think I have an idea.” Jane said as she and Loki hatched out a plan to deal with Hela. It wasn’t much of an idea but it was the best Jane could come up with.
“We’ll, if we die it’ll be worth it.” Loki said as the pair put their plan into motion.
Down below in the park Hela was cutting down trees with her magical blades. The goddess of death laughed as a breeze blew her black cape and black skirt. She hadn’t changed since Jane had last saw her, still dressed in her almost all black outfit with dark greens around her big, sharp and pointy helm.
“I see Enchantress underestimated how long it would take you to get down.” Hela said cackling as Jane landed a dozen feet away.
“Don’t worry, I took care of her.” Jane said swinging the hammer. She knew she’d have to strike fast and hard. Without another word, the goddess of thunder flew at the goddess of death. She swung Mjolnir with lighting fast speed, Hela in turned moved even faster dodging the blows. Jane made one swing to many before Hela started striking back. Now it was Jane’s turn to be on defense as Hela’s magical knives began striking at Jane.
While Jane had practiced a lot, Hela was more experienced by a few hundred years. Mjolnir was knocked from her grasp and before Jane could summon the hammer, a hand was wrapped around her throat lifting her off the ground. Hela’s hand tightened which destroyed Jane’s concentration to summon Mjolnir as she struggled to breath.
“You stupid thing. You had a chance to run, you could have hung where I left you, you had so many choices, and you still came back to face me?” Hela asked. Jane couldn’t answer as her throat was being crushed.
“Some would say that was admirable.” Hela said, her face lightening for a moment before growing dark again. “But not me. I say it was very foolish.”
“And now I will kill you.” Hela said. Jane kept trying to break the god’s hold on her neck, but there was nothing she could do. Hela was stronger than her and they both knew it. The goddess of death pulled her hands back, a blade appearing in her hand ready to disembowel Lady Thor.
Jane’s vision was just starting to blacken when she began to see Hela’s skirt slide down. Time slowed down as the skirt dropped completely. Jane could barely breath, but she did smile.
Hela’s skirt was pooled around her feet leaving her pale legs on display. Even with the threat of death, Jane couldn’t help but let out a chuckle at seeing the goddess taken down a notch. Hela was wearing a pair of black bikini panties.
The goddess of death’s face went from one of glee to confusion to anger. She dropped Jane to the ground, who fell to her knees taking in long ragged breaths. The knife disappeared from Hela’s hand as she bent down and struggled pulling up her skirt. Her normally pale face turning red with rage.
“Who dares to embarrass me?” Hela screamed, looking around for the culprit. The death goddess had just about gotten her skirt around her waist as she turned looking for the invisible Loki, who Jane had tasked with distracting the goddess of death.
Jane reached her hand out and summoned Mjolnir.
Hela turned to face Jane, just in time to get a face full of hammer. The goddess of death flew back, her helm flying off her head. Hela landed on her back and for a moment Jane thought the death goddess was out for the count, but Hela sat up and wiped a small trickle of blood from her mouth.
“You are dead.” The goddess of death said getting to her feet.
Jane would have been worried, but Loki, still invisible, followed through with another distraction. Hela’s cape, or as Loki insisted cloak, was thrown over her head and draped around her. The goddess of death was blind for a moment.
Jane wasted no time jumping in. As Hela was untangling herself, Jane began smacking her with the hammer. The goddess of thunder began pummeling her adversary. Hela went from standing to on the ground again. The blows would have liquidized a normal person, but just severely bruised Hela. The death goddess had never been hammered like this, even from Thor. She also hadn’t been embarrassed or knocked down in a millennium, which threw her for a loop.
Hela was stirred from her shock as she felt two pairs of hands on her cloak. One set began pulling on the cloak, the other was focused on unclasping it from her shoulders. Now the goddess of death began to fill with rage. Those so far beneath her dare to touch her cloak, that was something she couldn’t abide.
Jane and Loki were thrown back as Hela unleashed a wave of energy that threw them both back. Loki flew farther and landed in a heap. Jane managed to land on her feet, using Mjolnir to steady herself. Hela was enraged. The goddess of death stood to her full height. With her helm removed her pitch-black hair rolled down her shoulders, her pale face reminded Jane of porcelain except around the eyes, where Hela looked like she had black eye shadow running down her face.
“You dare try to remove my cloak? You weak, pathetic worm. Have you no decency? I will rip the flesh from your bone.” Hela said as blades began to appear in her hands, which she began throwing at Jane.
Lady Thor had no choice to go on the defense as she used the hammer to block the incoming blows. Hela was crazed with speed that pushed Jane to her limit. It was like a rapid-fire machine gun as Hela launched her dark blades.
“You will die.” Hela screamed as she began marching forward.
Jane knew she would soon be overwhelmed if she didn’t do something quick. They had almost removed the cloak, but it hadn’t been enough. Jane had an idea, but she hoped Hela was enraged enough to let her guard down.
Jane had one chance as Hela got within arm's reach. Without any warning, Jane used Mjolnir to throw herself into the air. Hela was in enough shock she threw an extra blade at where Jane had been standing a moment earlier. The goddess of death watched in confusion as Jane went up and over her, landing behind her. Jane had landed directly on Hela’s cloak that dragged on the ground due to length and the first attempt to undo it.
Jane landed and released the hammer straight at Hela’s face. The goddess of death took the blow on the chin, which threw her back. While Hela was thrown back from the blow, her cloak remained under Jane, who was using all her strength to keep the cloak under her feet. The goddess of death realized what was happening but could do nothing about it.
“Nooooo!” Hela screamed as her cloak slipped free of her body. The moment the fabric left her body; her voice grew weaker. Nothing physically changed about Hela, but she landed on the ground barely moving as her energy left her body.
Jane stood waiting for Hela to get up and continue the fight. It would have been a lie if she said she had believed Loki about the whole cape situation, but Hela was down and barely moving.
“Good work.” Loki said striding up to his downed sister. He looked a bit dirty, but besides that no worse for wear. The trickster gave his sister a good kick in the ribs, which she barely managed to turn away from.
Around the city, the undead were still roaming, the dragon had stopped roaring, but it was still a place of destruction and chaos. While Jane had stopped the head of the problem, it seemed like it all had spun out of control. She marched over to Loki.
“How do we undo this?” Jane asked as Hela weakly tried to claw at her ankles.
“Great question, not sure.” Loki said as he too looked around at the chaos still unfolding. He leaned down over Hela. “I do have an idea though.”
Loki tapped a finger to his older sister’s head. He closed his eyes and after a moment opened them. He stood up and looked at Hela disappointed.
“Really? Just toss you back into the main gate will drag all your forces back and close the portals What kind of lazy spell work is that? Who came up with that Amora? What kind of jackass stupidity is that?” Loki peppered the weakened Hela with questions, not hiding his disdain.
“Wait, wait, wait, I just have to toss her back into the pit she crawled out of, and it drags all that stuff back in?” Jane asked.
“Yes.” Loki said still disappointed at his sister.
“That’s it?”
“It will suck in her armies of undead and close the portals. Rebuilding and fires it won’t do, I don’t think but based on the stupidity of the spell it might make sunshine and rainbows and everyone gets a puppy.” Loki shot his downed sister another disappointed look.
“Perfect.” Jane said as she reached down to grab the goddess of death. Instead of grabbing her by the waist like she had been with Loki, Jane reached into Hela’s long skirt and grabbed the black bikini briefs just under the surface. The goddess let out a small eep.
With a twirl of her hammer, Jane threw Mjolnir up and followed it, flying through the air. Jane dragged Hela by her black bikini briefs through the air. The goddess of death shouted, but even that was weak. Jane wished she had time to fly around the world, let Hela get dragged by her undies for maximum discomfort, but there was too much chaos and it the sooner it was over, the better it would be.
The portal to Hel was open, but nothing was pouring out of it at the moment. Jane hadn’t gotten a good look at it till now and it wasn’t pretty. Inside just seemed to be lava, rock and the undead. She put Hela down for a moment.
“Oh, thank the all father.” Hela said quietly as she rolled onto her side, too weak to even pluck her underpants out of her cheeks.
Jane investigated the portal and hung Mjolnir off her belt. She saw the perfect landing spot for Hela on the other side of the portal. Jane reached down once again to grab Hela by the bikini briefs. The goddess of death let out a small sound of discomfort as Jane began to spin her by her underpants. Jane was surprised the other worldly undies didn’t rip as she let go, sending Hela flying through into the portal.
“Don’t come back.” Jane shouted as Hela landed somewhere in the fields of Hel. Before Jane could say anything else, the wind began to rush louder than she could have imagined. It was a magical hurricane that grabbed the marching undead forcing them through the portal. First it was just a few skeletons here and there, but soon Jane was dodging masses of undead that were thrown back into the portal. The dragon flew by at one point, but Jane could barely see with all the bodies in the air. Soon the wave of undead turned into a trickle as the last few were sucked into the city. Loki even came, holding onto a flying undead only to drop next to Jane. Finally, the last of the undead flew through the portal that closed the moment it was through.
“That was easy.” Jane said looking at where the portal had been.
“That was lazy.” Loki said at the spell work.
A small impact got them to turn. Thor stood smiling at Jane. He walked right up and lifted her into his arms for a hug. She hugged him back as Loki looked away rolling his eyes.
“You did it.” He said with glee.
“We did it.” Jane corrected as without Thor keeping the dragon busy, Jane was sure she wouldn’t have succeeded on her own. They held each other for another few moments, until a loud sound drew their attention above.
They all looked up as a jet was landing in the center of the intersection that had once housed the portal to Hel. Jane grabbed her hammer ready for another fight, but Thor held up a hand and smiled.
On the side of the black jet was a big, stylized A, for Avengers. The jet landed and the back landing ramp descended. Three figures walked down the ramp. First down was a mousy looking man with five o’clock shadow, a grey button-down shirt and black slacks. His brown hair was a mess and his skin was pale. Anyone who looked at him quick would just see a small, strange man. Anyone who opened a newspaper for the past few years due to the man hunt, super heroing, trial and not guilty verdict knew he was Bruce Banner.
Also known as the Hulk.
The next was a woman and she was in costume. Her long black hair was loose down her back. She wasn’t as tall as Jane in her Thor form or as muscular, but she was athletic. She wore a red and black jumpsuit with a yellow spider symbol on her chest. A red half mask covered her face.
That would be Jessica Drew, Spider-Woman.
Last but certainly not least was the most stylish of the trio. He wore custom shoes, custom sunglasses with an expensive pair of dress pants and a sports coat. Under that was a red button-down shirt that looked a lot more expensive than Dr. Banner’s and a lot less buttoned. Besides the first sprinkles of chest hair peeking from his shirt was also the start of a round disk imbedded in his chest that glowed with a white light. His black hair was cut short and clearly cropped. He had a small goatee and mustache that looked perfectly groomed. He wore a watch that looked like it cost more than most people's cars.
He was the one, the only Tony Stark.
“Well, hot damn. I miss all the fun.” Tony said as he walked over to Thor and offered a hand. The much larger man took it and pulled him in for a hug. It wasn’t as emotional was the one Thor and Jane had shared but it was friendly.
“Good to see you, buddy. What uhhh.” Tony looked around. “What happened here?”
Thor let out laugh that was heartier than it needed to be.
“You know family stuff.” Thor said smiling. Tony looked over Thor’s shoulder and lowered his sunglasses to see Loki and Jane. She had only met Tony a hand full of times, she was pretty sure he didn’t know her name. But in her God of Thunder persona, he had no shot of recognizing her.
“They family, huh.” Tony said checking out Jane for a moment longer then was necessary.
“Yeah, so.” Tony said fixing his glasses and clapping his hands.
“Listen, I need a god of thunder. I don’t care which.” Tony said as he looked between Jane and Thor.
“I mean I’d rather the hot one, personally but whatever.” Ironman said looking to Jane.
“I got my Hulk and my spider person.” Tony said getting a wave of a hand from Bruce and a disgusted look by Jessica Drew.
“But I need you quick so.” Tony said gesturing to the plane for one of them to get in. Thor looked from Tony to Jane, then back.
“Tony, I just got back. And I must teach J-I mean the new God of Thunder about her powers and responsibilities.” Thor said slowly hoping not to get pushback from Tony.
“Mhmm and that’s nice. It seriously is, I promise she’ll still be here when we get back but if you don’t come with me, Earth might not be here when I get back. So, you see my dilemma.” Tony said talking fast and trying to keep his voice down.
“What is going on?” Thor asked, lowering his voice.
“I’ll tell you what, get on the jet and I’ll tell you. Got a whole team waiting.” Tony said.
“You are my friend, Tony. You can tell me what has happened.”
Tony took off his glasses, rubbed the bridge of his nose and put his sunglasses back on.
“Thor get on the god damn jet.” Tony said.
Thor turned and walked over to Jane.
“I...think I have to get on that jet.” Thor said a bit defeated, but Jane could only sigh and laugh. She was used to this; Thor was always off righting wrongs and fighting bad guys. Jane was always left behind, but unlike in the past she felt a bit more secure.
“Well, don’t wait so long to come back or maybe I’ll be gone.” Jane said as she grabbed Thor by the remains of his shirt and pulled him in for a deep, long, passionate kiss. Loki took a step back. Tony looked disappointed.
“Wow.” Jessica Drew said.
Bruce looked to her and asked. “Didn’t he say they were family?”
Their lips parted and another few seconds passed as they looked into each other's eyes for a moment before Thor turned to Tony. He hefted his axe over his shoulder.
“Alright, Tony. Let us go.” The God of Thunder said as Tony ushered him up the ramp.
“Thanks, buddy.” Tony said as Thor and Banner shook hands. Jessica Drew followed them up. Tony looked over at Jane again and slunk over.
“Hey, how you doin? Appreciate your work. If you need anything.” He pulled a small business card from his pocket and offered it to Jane. She took it and Tony locked eyes with Loki. The trickster just gave him a small wave.
“I don’t like you.” Tony said to Loki before turning on his heel and walking to his jet. Jane and Loki watched as it took off leaving them behind.
“So, what now?” Loki asked as the jet flew out of sight. Jane sighed before she looked over at him.
“Now, we discuss how you tried to abandon me.” She said towering over the trickster god.
“Oh, come on now. I was kidding.” Loki said throwing his hands up and backing off from Jane. She cracked her knuckles.
“Haven’t we been through enough?” Loki asked begging off as Jane grabbed him. The sounds of fabric stretching and groans of discomfort.
“Feel better?” Loki asked as he waddled away from Jane. His yellow boxer briefs hand been yanked up to his chest from the front, back and the sides.
“Yes, I do.” Jane said offering the trickster her hand. “Let’s go find a place to stay.”
“I will get you back.” Loki said his voice a bit higher as he took Jane’s hand. He used his free hand to slowly start the process of dislodging his underpants. Jane threw Mjolnir into the air and they were off.
A few months had passed since Hela’s attack on the city. Jane was amazed at how much had been repaired in such a short time, almost like the entire Earth had practice for when major events like this happened. Thanks to help from Tony Stark’s secretary, or whatever she was Jane wasn’t sure, she was able to get a new apartment that was about triple the size of her old one till she could get on her feet. She was also given some money for new clothes and necessities that had been destroyed when Hela attacked the city.
Loki had been swearing he’d get her back since the end of the Hela crisis, which was more annoying than if he got her back. He had been annoying enough she gave him another wedgie, not even in God of Thunder form just to get him to shut up. As fun as it was to give the trickster a hard time in her super powered form, there was something more satisfying to do it as just Jane.
There was a knock at the door that had gotten Jane out of bed. She was wearing just a pair of pink pajama pants and a muted green t-shirt.
“Loki?” Jane asked wondering why he didn’t answer the door. The Asgardian didn’t sleep much, which led to its own series of problems. Jane got to the door and opened it.
She was confronted by a group who didn’t look like they were from around here or from this planet.
There was a tree man standing behind the group who had to duck or his head would hit the ceiling. He gave Jane a small wave. On his shoulder appeared to be a racoon in a jumpsuit, who looked bored if racoons could look bored.
In front of the tree man and to the left was a blue woman. She had no hair and her body seemed to be half made from cybernetic parts. Half of her head was robotic. She wore a sleeveless purple shirt and purple pants.
In front of the tree man to the right was a green woman. Her reddish hair was loose and stopped about her neck. Her face was beautiful and had black markings around her eyes that went down her cheeks. She was wearing a white and black jumpsuit with a sword attached to her back.
“Uh, hi.” Jane said taking in the group.
The green woman stepped forward.
“I’m Gamora, we are the Guardians of the Galaxy, and we need your help.” She spoke.
Jane opened her mouth as she had so many questions. Who were the Guardians of the Galaxy? Why did they need her help? Was that actually a racoon or some alien?
But those all flew out the window as she felt a tug on her pajama pants. Before Jane could do anything, the pants were yanked down to her ankles. Her hands instinctively went to cover herself.
“Loki!” Jane shouted, turning around looking for her annoying house guest. She heard him giggle from somewhere further in the apartment.
“Why is her butt covered in moons?” The half robotic blue woman asked, scowling at Jane’s rear end. The scientist turned superhero spun around as she realized she just turned her butt to the group at her door. She blushed hard as she pulled up her pants to cover her black brief cut panties that were in fact covered in white moons.
“Why don’t you come inside and explain what you need my help with.” Jane said as she finished adjusting her pants.
It is going to be a long day, Jane thought to herself as the group shuffled inside.
