Your reading of Kidder sounded like the Cumberbatch Sherlock in some ways. He just wants to ask his little questions and do his little tasks for his own entertainment/fulfillment. And Johansen is the Watson BFF that Kidder gets to keep. AND as soon as you said Kidder called to ask if he could hang out with Johansen, I shipped them. They're probably both ace. I'm sure the internet, in its infinite depths, has a fanfic somewhere.

You should do a random conversation episode about AI art! I know you got AI thoughts!! 🔥🔥 At least more thoughts than people on my FB wall, who seem to have flipped in 2 years from “look at this cool new stuff” to “all AI art is evil and antone who uses it is evil”

You don't think Vampires doing the dishes would be funny? You don't want to see What They Do in the Shadows?

Just finished listening to the episode, and ran to the computer to confirm that Regent Square is in fact a neighborhood of Pittsburgh, though I think it might be outside the city limits proper. But I see the link to the store in the notes, so its already been covered. Anyway I will definitely be checking the store out when it opens. And i 2nd a Strange Studies event at the store.

According to modern panpsychism, consciousness is a property of fundamental particles, so there is nothing, including mice, bacteria and atoms, that is not conscious. You can hear all about it here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m001vl96. I struggle with it, particularly when posited by scientists who seem to have forgotten the fundamentals of science.

One day I might be making deliveries out by Pittsburgh so it's good to know there's a bookstore recommended by Strange Studies out there. Any other bookstore/places in Pennsylvania or New Jersey or New York that you'd recommend?

I feel a bit hypocritical, as an omnivore, bringing this up but rats are actually very sweet, very affectionate, and clever animals that make fantastic pets and companions. You wouldn't torture a cat or a dog, would you? Don't treat rats like that either. [The hypocrisy comes from knowing pigs are similar, but loving barbecue ribs all the same.]

I want to chime in and also reassure you guys that I love the episodes where you discuss creative processes etc. like the high concept episode. As an amateur writer I love hearing about how others approach storytelling. Unrelated but have you guys ever checked out the game Soma by Frictional Games? It goes pretty heavy on transhumanism concepts and I found it really thought provoking. Their other games are really great too and all are heavily inspired by Lovecraft, even so far as the game engine is called the HPL Engine. I definitely recommend checking them out.

Hey all! Thanks, guys so much for the mention. The bookshop is open for business! Our grand opening (which for one thing is just a deadline to finish some little projects) is next Friday 4/5 but we are doing a “soft opening” as they say and opened on my 40th birthday 3/19. We’re going to have some great local authors read on Friday and I’ll tell a tale or two to the kids on Saturday to kick off our programming. We are starting a horror/spooky (not sure what to call it) book club. Voting on our first book soon! We are also going to host other events (smallish space but cozy is good haha) and I’m serious about strange studies night! We can do a live recording and the like. :) There’s a twin peaks bar on the same block. Are we not all convinced now? Thanks for the well wishes, Chad and Chris.
