Slight correction, there's only one "r" in Quatermass. KWAY-ter-mass

I love this movie and Hammer in general, Kronos definitely isn't as great as the older ones but it's still fun, but Twins of Evil which you mentioned is easily one of my favorite Hammer films, it's super dark bleak tone and beautiful cinematography really just puts you into some kind of dark gothic fantasy. It's technically a prequel to Vampire Lovers I believe, definitely hits some interesting notes, Peter Cushings character is an asshole but is torn by grief and in the end somewhat redeems himself, his performance is great it came from the period after his wife died and all the movies he was in in this time he really channeled his own grief into his performances.

The time traveling original screenplay reminds me of the 1989 movie “warlock” with Julian sands. Could be a good movie to cover in the future

It's a Ghost.

Loved this movie. I enjoyed it and laughed so many times.

It's a Ghost.

Also, thank you guys for enlightening me this week about how the presence of a vampire can bring a dead frog back to life and how there's a risk of a corpse turning into a vampire whenever a cat or other animal (maybe a frog?) jumps over a coffin.

Since Quatermass was mentioned during this study, I'm hoping that sometime in the future there's a study covering Quatermass and the Pit, both the 1958/1959 BBC series and the Hammer film version from 1967, released in the US under the title 5 Million Years to Earth. While the film has better and larger special effects, the BBC series is the better production, having more time to develop the characters and plot.

Chris- Danger Man was before the Prisoner and Number 6 is strongly implied to be the same man… but the P is really a stand alone Masterpiece.

Your discussion of preferring regular people fighting vampires reminded me of John carpenters aptly named “Vampires.” James woods is problematic these days of course, but man would I watch a series about his ragtag crew of asshole slayers. Also great on this is the Buffy episode (name escapes me) where the watchers take her powers and put her in a house with an insane vampire, and she is to figure out how to kill him as a normal girl.

The one and only time I saw Captain Kronos was thirty years ago, around 2 AM on WPIX or WSBK. I remember really liking it, in particular all the detective stuff, and just the notion that there could be vampires that consumed something other than blood and had weaknesses other than wooden stakes and garlic. I don't know how well this would hold up to memories of watching it in high school, but you guys gave it a thumbs up, so maybe. My understanding is that this was meant to spark a franchise, and that Kronos was supposed to return to fight other kinds of vampires in future adventures, but it didn't do well enough to justify even one sequel.

The original pitch sounded awesome as hell! That's like being called General Bloodrage and never finding yourself in a bloody rage. Curious, would Captain Kronos best the vampires in LifeForce though?

Being more familiar with lesser-known graphical art than campy vampire media I was surprised to hear Horst Janssen also starred in a Hammer film

I'd love it if you did the 4 Quatermass films, Nigel Kneale is such a giant.

To the Devil a Daughter is so dodgy, given the full frontal nudity of a 14 year old Kinski.
