Dandelo’s back?!! Omg, I love that guy.

Yes! I am referring to the Erckmann-Chatrian story! It's on the literature of Lovecraft audiobook by HPLHS "The collaborators Erckmann-Chatrian enriched French literature with many spectral fancies like The Man-Wolf, in which a transmitted curse works toward its end in a traditional Gothic-castle setting. Their power of creating a shuddering midnight atmosphere was tremendous despite a tendency toward natural explanations and scientific wonders" -Supernatural Horror in Literature

Another vote for an Extra Credit episode devoted to Uzumaki. If you are worried about branching out into Manga you could stay in your traditional wheelhouse by covering the 2000 film adaptation. This was my introduction to the material and more generally to modern Japanese horror movies (J-Horror). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uzumaki_(film)

Also maybe not another cults book but maybe a Conan setting book? There might be one already out there but exploring the Eldritch horror of bygone ice ages would be pretty sick with some massive thews!

The horror anthology which features the giant snail story is called, Alfred Hitchcock's Supernatural Tales of Terror and Suspense. I also borrowed it from the library when I was 12 or 13 years old and I remember the story totally creeping me out. Alfred Hitchcock licensed his name to a huge series of horror and suspense anthologies back in the 50s 60s and 70s. I read a few of when I was a kid and loved them all the weird and creepy stories ❤️💀❤️

Can't wait for the Junji Ito extra credit!

I love your pitch for the new Shaun of the dead sequel. “Nightmare on Ed’s Street”

Whoa. When the “Dandelo” sound played near the end of this episode both of my cats looked up, ears alert, as if hearing a message from beyond.

I'm pleasantly surprised that Chris read my grousing about Shea, and I appreciate Chad providing a clearer summary of my objections than I could. I've listened to nearly every episode of this podcast, and I always enjoy your coverage, even when the story doesn't speak to me; and on the flip side I've encountered so many great stories that I'd never have otherwise found. Thank you, Chris and Chad, for so many great years of listening

I’ve been catching up on Strange Studies, currently on Episode 53, but I’m also trying to stay current with the new episodes as they release. When I’m listening to older episodes Spotify auto plays the next episode, but when I’m listening to the newer episodes it reverts to whatever other podcast I’ve subscribed to that is newest. So I finish the feedback show, the next episode plays, and I hear Arnold’s voice talking about being a good person and exercising. I totally thought it was Chad doing his Arnold impression, but he was being pretty serious about Monday motivation. Turns out it was Pump Club, not Chad. Does that count as a strange story? In all seriousness it’s been really great listening to you guys and catching up on the show. The nostalgia has been a nice break from the stress of a new move and job. Your production really is top notch and I just love listening. Also I would second or third the request for Uzumaki coverage. One of the most disturbing things I’ve seen. So disturbing. You’d love it!

I don't know if y'all are aware that Dick Trickle was a NASCAR racer; I got the impression that you may have thought the name was made-up.

Uzumaki rules & Ito rules! I actually edited the English edition of the Uzumaki manga so any awkward phrasing or weird dialogue choices are entirely my fault. The Japanese Uzumaki live action movie is worth seeing too. It came out before the end of the manga IIRC, so it has a different ending, which isn’t quite as epic as the manga ending but is messed up in entirely different ways. Anyway, I’ll be excited if you do an Ito ep!

I'm very excited for the coverage of Junji Ito. I've been into his works for a few years now, but I have recently been spiraling even deeper into the rabbit hole on his works. Chad, if you're casting about for a good starting point on him, I highly recommend the short story The Enigma of Amigara Fault. It's a short read, maybe 15 minutes maximum. But a great introduction into his style. https://imgur.com/gallery/comic-dump-junji-ito-enigma-of-amigara-fault-AjfDC

I’ve been reading Tobias Buckell’s wonderful collection, “Zen and the Art of Starship Maintenance and Other Stories”, and he has a story in it called “Chi’s Cargo” which is his answer to Godwin’s “Cold Equations”, and its everything I wanted to scream at Godwin’s story. So satisfying. It needs to be read widely.

Fools! Those ten dollars are as good as mine!

I love that Chris turns denouement into a kiss.

How can the brain cell collector be sure it was roast beef?

Emily Reilly

10 dollars? How long has it been since you have bought bikini Chad?!

The Quest For Blank Claveringi and the slow but implaccable and fatal snail is so reminiscent of an old meme that I wonder if it was the inspiration for it. About 10 years ago a video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HINYhLtaaxc) asked if you would accept $10 million dollars but in return a snail will follow you the rest of your life and if it touches you it kills you. This thought experiment (with the addition that both you and the snail are immortal until you touch) launched a wave of Reddit posts with strategies to survive and short-story prompts (such as you and snail surviving the heat death of the universe).

I'm afraid that this has led to us singing 'Boys, boys, boys' of Sinita fame. This is because you are 'the boys', as far as we are concerned. It also means that we need you both to release, for Christmas, a cover version of that song. Thank you
