They will get you. We never should have said otherwise. COMMENTS!

I dunno, sure a walking skeleton is not normal, but their mortal enemy is a dog because they’ll chew up or hide all the bones. And there’s lots of dogs.

Jeremy Impson

I thought the notification said, "comments are scary" and thought, "oh-oh, what did I say this time?"

Just blame Lying Vincent Price for spreading misinformation

Just here to continue the gushing about Andrew Leman's voice talent. I must have listened to the three "Wendigo" episodes close to ten times because of the real weight that he put into narrating the snippets (and the C&C coverage, of course!). It's one of my fav weird tales and I've looked for narrations of the full story for background/driving listening but none match his delightful delivery. I'll have to try and find that Seaton's Aunt narration and check it out!

Isn't there an entire Neil Gaiman coming-of-age short story where, like Chris, the protagonist thinks Moorcock's dead?

Whoa huge slam on The Phantom out of nowhere! While it’s probably the least of the big three ‘90s smash flops inspired by ‘30s pulp adventure, we watched it recently and it holds up better than you’d expect for a movie about Billy Zane wearing a skintight purple onesie.

If chad is looking for a cheaper place to live, I have a cellar full of amontillado that has some space. Free Amontillado!

As Dylan Thomas had the ghostly Mr Ogmore say [you] 'must wear a flannel band to wars off sciatica'

On the NIN/Sharon Tate House: cEvin of Skinny Puppy has been doing live stream interviews on his Patreon through the pandemic. A few weeks ago he had Richard Patrick from the band Filter on, who was a member of the NIN live band in the early ‘90s. According to Richard, the band was looking for a place in Bel Air to convert into a studio. They chose the Tate house because the realtor told them it was scheduled to be demolished (because Jean Claude Van Dam bought the property) so they could do whatever they wanted to it. It was only later that they found it was the actual Tate/Manson house. He didn’t mention any backlash from the family of the victims, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it happened, for obvious reasons.

Real talk, anyone thinking about a big house move should consider climate adaptation and the impacts of the next 10-20-more years of more extreme weather. It isn't as fun as thinking about what's cool in a particular city or region, but might be worthwhile. Midwest and upper northeast (away from coasts) would be my picks, with micro-siting decisions to stay out of riparian flood zones.

Chris, your confusion over Moorcock's death may have its ultimate roots in the hoax biography in some editions of Breakfast in the Ruins, which claims he died at the age of 31. The joke apparently rebounded quickly on Moorcock, as this quote (reproduced in Neil Gaiman's One Life Furnished in Early Moorcock) reflects: “That fucking biography. Shortly after it came out I was at a Hawkwind gig, stoned out of my brain, and these people kept coming up to me, and I thought I was dead. They kept saying ‘You’re dead, you’re dead.’ Later I realised that they were saying, ‘But we thought you were dead’.” Michael Moorcock, in conversation. Notting Hill, 1976 If Moorcock dies, you haven't got to worry: he Bradburied himself decades ago.

Ben Gilbert

Bradburying? Isn’t that using a fake sick friend named Bradbury to get out of unwanted social engagements?

Chad, I can attest from firsthand experience that skeletons _are_ scary. As I might have mentioned before (Chris knows this from my participation on RWST), I’m a biological anthropologist, and I spent years gathering data from skeletons in various museums around the world. On one occasion, I was working in a European collection (which I’ll leave nameless to protect the innocent) where some skeletons were assembled and mounted on old iron stands. I had been given permission to remove them from their stands to gather data, and so I was hefting them from shelving to take them to my work area. I should note I was working alone in the collection (which is a much longer story). Lifting one of the stands of a fully articulated skeleton, my footing slipped and I fell, carrying this skeleton and it’s heavy iron stand down on the concrete with me. For what felt like a long minute, I was pinned on the ground by the skeleton and it’s metal stand, alone deep in the collections of this museum. All the while I was more worried about having potentially damaged the mounted skeleton more than my own, and eventually I was able to roll the skeleton off me. Thankfully both the skeleton and I were okay, but I’ll never forget the terror of getting attacked by a skeleton alone in a museum.

Thank you for reading my 'The Shadow' comment. However, I cringed to hear "unfortunately Mabel is not so fortunate". Clearly I need to work on my writing skills...

Another vote for "The Abominations of Yondo," yo. Amazing atmosphere.

Tomas Rawlings

+1 for Simmons' novel Drood. Excellent read.

Andrew Leman reading SEATON'S AUNT!!! Gimme! And to be fair to Andrew, I listen to him read the Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath. I'm sure you guys can understand falling asleep to that. Haha

Me: fist-bumping while drivinng as my name and comment are read out _again_ on the comments show; if I'm not fighting my way on, how do you explain these bruises and keyboard wear??

Phil Estabrook

You know, I’m not sure my comment regarding Chad’s hyperbolic take on this and my comparison to Terminator Salvation was fair. It was an unnecessary drive by that was harsher than intended. Terminator salvation is a great movie even sober! It should have been the next step in that franchise but instead they moved to Genesis and that last one which was horrific. Again, my apologies. I should be more careful wielding my immense influence.
